We are from Texas so reserved early. Nice table outside, lovely clam chowder and coconut shrimp. Warning...crab and shrimp Louie is huge! Could not eat it all.
Our dinner for 4 was a wonderful experience. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The food was so delicious, our table was well situated and our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable.
The seafood chowder with smoked salmon and pepper was A+. Lots of fried foods. No table cloths. Busy robust clientele - mostly tourists. Overall good, but not great, not worth a diversion, but if you are there decent fare.
Staff was very accommodating for our large group of 27 people, even when a few more relatives showed up unannounced. Food was excellent and was served in a timely fashion. Love this restaurant!
I am a fan of Ivar's Acres of Clams. This time I had family from Europe and they were in Seattle only for 2 full days, therefore Ivars for lunch was the place. Radford was her wait person, he was polite, attentive and our orders were served as ordered.
Very good food and price. We were meeting family from Europe and had a wonderful 2 hours talking at our table without any pressure to leave. Good job Ivars.
Our server Brent went over and above to ensure our meal was a great memorable experience even making a special dipping sauce to accommodate food allergies.
Skip everything order the cod
Excellent seafood. Tomato, fennel chutney was to die for.
Terrible. The waiter checked on us once, the salmon was over cooked which was so disappointing. The food was pricey for the quality. The green beans were overloaded with salt and pepper. So many other better options in Seattle. It’s the McDonald’s of Seattle seafood.
They were aware ahead of time and again at the meal of a 1 year wedding anniversary. Nothing significant done to recognize it. No complaints. But I do wonder why the restaurant wants to know if there is a special occasion?
Large portions. Great location on the water. Good was good but not great.
Nice atmosphere, good food, good service. I need to have gluten free food and our server totally took care of it.
Our server, Walter, was extra nice. Food was tasty and well presented.
Food and view are amazing. Service is top notch!
We were told this place was the best for seafood but was a bit underwhelmed. The setting and ambience is quite nice but we went on a busy night so that took away from it. The food was good but frankly not worth the value. A tad overpriced considering the great options otherwise in Seattle.
Service took 2 hours. We had 4 kids who had to wait an hour and a half to get food. Someone stole a sweatshirt from us and the restaurant did nothing to help.
Great food and great happy hour!
We all enjoyed our lunches! The view of the waterfront is terrific and it was a spectacular day in Seattle! Thank you for the nice service!
Loved everything about this place!! The food, service and ambiance were wonderful. Just wish I lived closer so I could eat there more often!
We chose this restaurant because it was relatively close to our hotels, on the water, had a variety of menu options, and was somewhat reasonable in price. We sat inside, but did have a view of the water. There were five of us including one teenager. Our server was nice and we had quick service. All of this was good. We ordered two halibut entrees which were really delicious (but expensive), fish and chips, fried clams, clam chowder and salad. The salad was small, fresh, but also overpriced. The fries were really salty and the fried clams were just ok. All in all, it wasn’t a bad meal, just more expensive than what is was worth.
I have been to this establishment twice and both times have been so impressed by the food and service that I now make a point of re-visiting. Love this place (and so does my 9 year old).
My party was reserved at least a month in advance. We had a group from the 2019 International Association of Professional Landscape Designers in Seattle. I was looking for a great waterfront view, short walk from most downtown hotels, and great seafood. Ivar’s was a great success! We were seated on their remarkable outdoor patio with spectacular views and gorgeous hanging baskets of plants( great plus for plant geeks).
I would wholeheartedly recommend you go here for a larger party, medium party, or just the two of you. Amazing history, amazing atmosphere inside or out (less noisy on patio).
Food was outstanding. The fruit salad followed by the salmon and crab combo was one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. Server was wonderful but kitchen seemed a problem. Main course arrived before half the salad was finished. Fairly pricey but worth it for an occasional splurge.
The food is good enough, though not great. However, being raised in the Pacific Northwest, it is a Seattle institution we take visitors from out of town to. The food is not the main attraction. I do enjoy a good crab/shrimp Louie, but theirs is mostly veggies with a wee bit of crab/shrimp, so not as enjoyable as in the past.
We arrived for dinner at 630 and were promptly seated. We all had seafood, of course, and loved it. I had king salmon with a huckleberry sauce, delicious. My husband had the cioppino, which was very good as well. He was disappointed in the size of the clams in the dish. I gather (based on the size of Manila clams we saw later at the fish market) that these clams are quite tiny. The prices were on the high side, but overall, a very nice first evening in Seattle.
very slow service
salmon was almost dry
complimentary white breads and butter was just cheap white bread cut thinly
server didn't offer dessert
when reservations were made online I noted that we were celebrating a birthday. no one said anything to us about that event.
Great service for lunch, the best clam chowder I had out there in Seattle, alot more clams in the chowder than anywhere else
Great food and great view from the patio. Server was slow and inept.
Great waterfront ambience (make sure to request to sit in the outside patio). Very little wait with opentable reservation. Good food, good service, but the main thing is beautiful setting.
This place was wonderful! We requested inside seating by the harbor and they were happy to accommodate. The food was very fresh and tasty. We had the clam chowder appetizer and loved sampling their three different flavors. Fish and Chips, Shrimp and Avocado Cocktail, and Clams and Chips were all very good. We would definitely go back! Loved it:)
Great service, good oysters and good gluten free options. Incredible view of Harbor.
Our server was fantastic! He was very patient and kept a cheerful attitude even when having late diners. I was very impressed with the service we received.
Delicious king crab legs!
Awesome food. Great service. Lovely restaurant. Worth every penny. A must when visiting Seattle.
Excellent window view- awesome service!
It was great! It was our first time in Seattle. The food and service was excellent! We loved being on the water.
we ate with old friends all of us have been in the area for 40 years but nice to come back
Everything was perfect! Lived up to the hype. Great quality food and good service.
