Always fantastic! I'm so glad we were able to finally come back!
Relaxing dinner with friends at table window. Beautiful view, food was delicious, service friendly and efficient but not overbearing. Recommend for a special occasion with advance reservations to get the best table!
Great time with family!
Great place on waterfront. Highly recommend Ivar's Acres of Clams
Ivar is a tiny, mediocre step above a trucker stop diner. Nothing wrong with those, but if you expect upscale dining experience, which one might given the prices, you will be disappointed.
Clam chowder was more of a creamy potato soup, than clam chowder. I ordered the manilla clams, which were okay (not incredible), but the bread that accompanied the dish was stale, sad, tiny… cracker? Sad given that a proper slice of sourdough could’ve elevated this dish from 2 to 3 stars. Maybe even 4!
The rest of the dishes were also mediocre at best, if not downright sad. Oh, you may wonder why didn’t I ask for bread, let me tell you - I did. And, I was served 3-day old bread rolls that were likely purchased at Costco.
So, skip Ivar’s. Let it stay a legend in your mind.
What you’d expect from a bayside tourist restaurant.
Host was super kind to our child, who we were celebrating an achievement with there. He even brought her a piece of chocolate cake after our meal.
Crab Dip is fantastic.
View is incredible, a little pricey, but it's worth the entire experience for sure.
If you are a tourist in Seattle a fun trip is to take the ferry to Bainbridge at Sunset then ride it back so you see the city at dusk then you can walk by here for dinner and know you're getting top-quality Northwest Seafood.
Food and service was good.
Just wished they would’ve taken into consideration my note in the reservation that we were there celebrating a birthday.
I got the three course meal special, which included 3 different wines. Great deal.
Mike was our waiter -extremely attentive, prompt and helpful. We got in even before our reservations -all staff were pleasant and accommodating. We had a great time, will come back in the future. Thanks!
Seattle classic...staff seems inexperienced
Cioppino was pretty blah
Nice waiter, great food.
Love Ivar's acres of clams on Pier 54 and make it a point to go there every time I visit Seattle. Great food, drinks and views; and the service is outstanding!
Not a tourist type of meal like I thought it could be. Ivar would be satisfied. Chowder just like old days. Many years since last visit!!!!
This is an amazing restaurant right on the water in Seattle! The service was outstanding and the food was delicious! Will absolutely come back!
Always have a great time at Ivars. I fee like since Covid, the batter for the fish and chips has changed and no bread brought to table. It was still very good. Will be back again.
Raw bar was closed, out of the specials and they closed at 8 (including last call). I was really hoping for a nice night but all that made it very disappointing.
It was okay, but not worth the price. There are many other restaurants in the area priced about the same, including Elliott’s that are better…much much better. Will not be returning.
Great restaurant. Food was good, fish and chips are amazing!! Chowder was also awesome. Kids meals are a good value. Can’t beat the view.
The lack of gluten free options. Servers overwhelmed. Bread stale. Food mediocre for price. Ivars seems to have gone downhill since previous visits
Not an "aha" restaurant but absolutely solid with its cooking and presentation of appetizers and entrees. The clam chowder has always been a favorite; the batter on the fish and chips was light but crunchy. Service was attentive, but the kitchen pass was a bit fast - entrees arrived within five minutes of soup and salad ("I didn't want to leave it to get cold" at the pass, so the mains got cold at the table while soup and salad were finished).
I used to go there as a kid. Best clam chowder and sourdough bread. They no longer have sourdough bread. They ruined a classic!
Had a great experience. Just what we were looking for. Wait staff was engaging and attentive. Really liked the atmosphere.
Asked for outdoor seating. We were seated inside with no explanation.
Fish was tremendously over-cooked and Brussels spouts were practically raw. The smell was not good. It was such a disappointment
Took a group of 6 there after playing golf. Was definitely not treated the best probably because we were in gym clothes and not the casual nice clothing everyone else was wearing. Salmon was over cooked and after hyping up pnw salmon for a week the group was disappointed. Would not recommend for the price
It was a great experience. Food was fantastic, service was really great and the environment on the water is really great for entertaining or a simple dinner! I would highly recommend the Halibut!
Iconic seafood restaurant on Pier 54 since 1938. Clam chowder can’t be beat and their specialty is fantastic fish and chips. Right on the water. Go there!
Just okay. Touristy.
Food was great. We had a nice table. But the tables were not set as far apart as I would expect if the restaurant was trying to keep people socially distanced. I understand not being able to put them 6feet but we were right up near another table.
The food was fast although there were a lot of people there. The cod and halibut fish and chips were good but not very tasty. I think they didn’t season the fish before putting the batter. But it tasted fresh.
I had not been back since their reopening after Covid closure late last year until June of this year. I was surprised how slow it was. All that said, the service, food, drinks were all very good. I had the grilled trio of salmon, shrimp, and halibut which was very good being prepared just right. Will return for sure.
Good food, Bad service
Food was good, but not worth the $150 price tag. Our server forgot about our table due to a large party that he was waiting on. Never returned to refill our drinks or check on us or even check us out--not once. We waited 30 minutes for our check and had to ask 2 other servers to bring it before it arrived. There are plenty places to eat along the water...choose a restaurant other than Ivar's.
I explicitly booked an outdoor table due to the pandemic and not wanting to eat indoors. Despite the confirmed reservation, outdoor seating was closed. I was not called or informed of this change until I arrived at the restaurant. Not cool at all, as I would have gone elsewhere.
This restaurant is one of the first five established on Seattle’s pier and you can tell by its hidden charm! I was between the cod and halibut fish and chips. When I asked the waiter what to order, he asked me where I was from. I thought that was an interesting way to gauge what I would like instead of simply giving me his personal opinion. Needless to say the food was incredible! Definitely the best fish and chips I’ve ever had (and for the record, I had the halibut). The view was beautiful as well. I went on a quieter evening for an early dinner, but I imagine this place would be lively on a Friday or Saturday night. Looking forward to visiting again!
We sat outside and it was beautiful. The seafood trio with salmon, halibut, and prawns was absolutely delicious!
No crabs, no mussels, out of oysters,, one choice of clam. What kind of seafood place is this?
We dined here on the patio on a probably the last gorgeous summer day in Seattle to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The view here is amazing as the ferries come in very close to the restaurant. Everyone fully enjoyed their meals with halibut, calamari, fish and chips and fresh clams. Everything was so well prepared and very fresh tasting. A very memorable dining experience.
