Excellent meal overlooking the docks. Staff was very attentive and the food was delicious. Halibut has just come in season, and wrapped with their bacon, it was wonderful!
I attended Easter Brunch here a couple of years ago and just returned to the Seattle area prior to this Easter and thought it would be a nice to visit again, this time with family. Unfortunately the visit was not the same. Food quality has declined as did the overall excitement of it. Last visit there was a full time oyster bar with a shucker and various sauces. This year was just a bus tub on the bar that held no where near the demand. There were additional choices of fried clams with the fish and chips and a chicken option and pasta option, etc. This year the impression less welcoming, more of a make a few things and keep turning the tables. Anyway, I am sure there are reasons behind the change, it was just deflating to be so built up to dine there and build the expectation for my family based on my first experience to what we actually experienced this year.
All seafood was cold and some things were severely salty but love the ambiance and the views and the energy in the building.... service was great....
Delicious, prompt service. Food and drinks were perfect! Definitely will be back when we are in the area again.
Food was good.....quick. Overall good but pricey.
Ivar's has been a regular for us whenever visitors are in town. One of the best things has been the breading on the calimari appetizer, as well as the fish 'n chips is gluten free...well...it WAS GF. The flour was just changed this week. My wife can no longer enjoy. I am not GF, but can absolutely say the new breading, especially on the calimari is awful. Heavy and holds tons of frying oil. I think from now on might just stay on Bainbridge and go to one of the 2 restaurants that have very good calimari with GF breading. Ivar's, stop trying to be cheap and squeeze a profit and go back to the original flour.
Family friendly. Beautiful and huge. Great food options. Better value than some other places near by.
Though this is a chain, and definitely aimed at tourists to Seattle oh, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It is right on the water, so our table by the window gave us a wonderful view of the harbor. The menu at lunch time had all the things that we were interested in. My lunch companion and I both had there dozen oysters which were among the lowest priced in the city. The oysters were delicious! That left only room for a shared Caesar salad, which was divided and serve to us on two plates. I recommend the experience and we'll go again next time I'm Seattle.
I came to this restaurant twice while visiting Seattle. While the food is very good and the view is beautiful the service both times was terrible!!!
Terrific food, service and view. Always a favorite.
Food was good. Service was exceptional. Value was par but for the location.
Best gluten free calamari and seafood chowder. Highly recommend!
We had a group of 14 people and everyone loved Ivar's! The food and drinks were delicious. The view was amazing, especially the sunset. The halibut was very fresh and perfectly cooked.
Great food and service for our meeting in Seattle nice view
Food was delicious, as expected. Waiter was not on par. Did not offer appetizers, soup, salad, extras. Just took order for drinks and mains. He could have worked harder and offered more. Had to ask for bread three times. But food was the best. Had a great view from our table. Highly recommend.
terrific! that’s it.
Great ambiance with view of the water. Clam chowder and calamari were pretty good, so we were looking forward to the entrees. We we're disappointed; the salmon was dry, the kids' cheeseburger was dry, and the cioppino was too salty with overcooked fish and shellfish. The waiter seemed friendly, but he committed my one pet-peeve: he grabbed the check before we left the table; which I find pretty insulting. I will not go back, and I can not recommend Ivar's.
The food was good and in a prime location however the service was terrible. The waiter would walk by our table multiple times without asking if we needed anything or checking on us. We had to actively get his attention and ask sometimes multiple times anytime we needed something like more water or the bill. Just frustrating experience.
Nice view. Sunset was beautiful! Food was really good.
Awesome! Food and service incredible every time. Will always eat there when visiting Seattle!
Good food but way overpriced. It’s in a tourist area, so something to be expected. I have never paid $20 for a fish and chips basket. Crazy.
Best seafood we have ever had! The Calamari was out of this world!
Amazing cioppino, my favorite dish. Ambiance is fantastic, whether you on patio enjoying the Seattle waterfront or inside amongst the hustle and bustle of a very busy restaurant!
Their halibut fish and chips are delicious! And I love their garlic fries but they only serve them in the bar so I wish we would have been seated in the bar this time.
Made reservations for 6:15 dinner to take advantage of Ivar's birthday special. We were not seated until 6:45. Service was slow even though there were many open tables near us. The gratuity was incorrectly figured and the price was just moderate, even with the birthday discount meals.
Fish was dry
Great deal food slow in coming and the don’t heat their bread. Waitress did not come around enough. Food was excellent. Ate outside weather and view PERFECT
Delicious seafood, plus the view of the Sound and the Olympic Mountains is amazing!
Ivars has a nice view of Puget Sound and the mountains beyond. Many of the tables can see the view.
Both my husband and I enjoyed our entrees. This was the second time we were there in a few months and enjoyed it the first time too.
It was good! Service could have been better though - waiter did not come by often
Ivar's Acreas of Clams is consistently an enjoyable dining experience. This dinner evening was no exception. Service was excellent and food was plentiful and delicious.
delicious chowder so creamy and hits the tongue with pleasure
Ivar's is classic Seattle; however, the waitstaff was pathetic. Hostess made us wait for seemingly no apparent reason as we had a reservation and there were plenty of empty tables. The waitress did not mention the wine specials and when we asked we got the special menu. She forgot to bring us an appetizer and I just skipped it. She noticed when we put our coats back on as the place was freezing and said she would speak to the manager about turning up the heat. No discernable difference following that statement. The waitress brought the bill without the discount on the wine we ordered and was oblivious when we mentioned it to her. She then admitted it was her first day on the job.
Thankfully, the food was good.
Bob Donnegan needs to step up the training/hiring protocols!
Freshest options for seafood and local fare. Grilled Halibut was outstanding. Dockside views and excellent service all around made for a wonderful evening.
Our food was excellent - tasty and just the right sized servings.
Our server brought a basket of old, dried bread. He later found some fresh bread.
The waiter's attention to our needs was problematic - long gaps between courses and a particularly long wait for our dessert.
Food was really delicious but it was a littlw pricey. Came from Canada so it was a nice treat. Overall, they had great service and the food was amazing.
Love the tradition of this place and the clam chowder! I never liked it before I tried Iver’s! Great server as well. I always come to Ivers when I visit Seattle which is a lot !
It was an okay experience. The fish all tasted the same and wasn't a great blend of flavor. It is one big open area. It definitely seemed more for tourists.
Enjoyed a nice quiet dinner overlooking the water! Highly recommend the chowders - we enjoyed the clam and the salmon chowder. Our main dishes (salmon and bacon wrapped halibut) were delicious!
