Ivan Ramen imagines the Classic NY diner as seen through the Japanese lens. The food is incredible, the service outstanding, the menu is uniquely Ivan Orkin. Ivan Ramen celebrates Ivan’s creativity through the lens of his life journey. His effortless blending of: his New York roots, his classic French training, and his deep understanding of Japan, color the menu and the restaurant. Ramen here is clearly a must, but you should not miss out on the amazing array of other dishes, which are perfect for sharing while you enjoy a well selected sake. Casual, comfortable and quirky with splashes of art inspired by pop culture and movies, Ivan Ramen is simply a fun restaurant.
What Insiders Are Saying
Ivan Ramen is an extremely popular ramen spot from Japan, now in the Lower East Side.
Great service, refreshing take on ramen, great spice in the spicy chili ramen
Fun and delicious
Great place, great food and great fun. We went for a birthday celebration, and we had a great time.
I went and had the spicy green beans and the charred corn to start. The corn was incredible, with just the right amount of spicy and flavor to awaken the pallet and the green beans were delicious and packed with a great amount of sesame and spicy to balance it out just right. Follow that I had the chicken paitan, which in my mind was like eating the most flavorful, a complete polar opposite to your moms bland matzoh ball soup. It was loaded with flavor and each slurp hit you in the face like a NYC bus with flavor and umami. It was the perfect balance of flavor and was literally everything I hoped for and more after watching chefs table and waiting for my chance to have it. After having NYC favorites like Totto Ramen, Nakamura, and Ichiran, I would absolutely recommend it to friends and will definitely be going back.
This experience exceeded our expectations!
We were visiting NYC from Toronto. Having seen Ivan Ramen on Chef’s Table and read his cookbook, we were excited by the chance to try the menu. Everything exceeded expectations. It’s a fun restaurant, service is friendly, and the food was delicious. The Tokyo Shio Ramen was fantastic. I would highly recommend dining here.
amazing food, great environment, creative flavors!
The Chicken Paitan Ramen was amazing! The broth was rich, flavorful and not overpowering. It had a darker color than is typical for chicken paitan but came together nicely with the egg yolk and the minced meat. Would definitely get it again!
Amazing service! Our server helped us with recommendations and was very attentive. The restaurant staff were even able to accommodate us when we arrived early for our reservation. Best ramen around!
Perfect food. Incredibly tasty.
Ivan Ramen was always on my bucket list. So I had to go. I made a reservation 8:30pm. I got there hour late so I understood what the situation would be like. It wasn’t extremely busy but it had traffic. I approached the front and the hostess said it would be 10-15 min wait. So I thought that’s cool. But then another host person came up to me with a very snarky rude tone. And said “ because u came extremely late and u missed ur reservation you have to wait 10-15 min wait”. First of all I was already told that. And second of all there’s no reason to be rude. Anyways I waited. Started off with a bad taste in my mouth. We finally got a table. The ambience is decent. Very small cramped. I’m ok with that because I love small Japanese ramen spots. But it wasn’t comfortable. Sat on the wall table. The server we had was extremely great bless him. But the other workers around him were to casual at moments. I ordered the fried chicken, tsukemen and about ramen.
The fried chicken was in a sauce that was good but it was too strong. It had a very vinegar salt taste. It was cool for the first couple bites but after that it got too much. The tsukemen noodles and pork were dope. The pickled greens on the side was also too strong. Didn’t care for the them and the dipping broth needed more broth and came out almost cold. The shoyu ramen had a smoky flavor to it. It was good. But not amazing. Overall everything was overpriced for the experience and taste. Nothing special.
Awesome place with extremely delicious food
Ivan Ramen is always a hit! Great food, great staff- always willing to accomidate and recommend what to try!
Vegetarian ramen was really good. Only thing was that the broth was a bit more watery than expected and I would have expected more richness in it. But still great ramen.
A great place for great noodles!
We loved it, and we'll be back!
The food is outstanding. We sat at a small table outdoors that was really cramped. I wish that we could have had a bigger table or more space, especially once we got all of our drinks and food on the table. Service was good. Would come back for the ramen definitely. Best I’ve had so far!
This was an amazing experience. Food was very delicious and well presented. Staff is so friendly and welcoming. Had a great time.
ramen broths are not that developed to be that pricey, and the ways the table are set up doesn't let you feel comfortable either.
This is my third time at Ivan Ramen, and I think it's one of my favorite places to eat in NYC. The food is excellent, and not too pricey. The combination of different flavors and textures that you experience eating the starters is out-of-this-world, and the Ramen is absolutely delicious. BTW there are other main dishes other than ramen to choose from! Highly recommend this place!
Great service everyone was very attentive and nice. Highly recommend the Japanese fried chicken and any of their Ramens.
Great service and great food. The service staff was attentive and helpful with recommendations. It was loud but was part of the experience.
Only issue was that it was a little warm inside, the AC was probably not operating well as it was hot outside.
Pretty good! Food is amazing. Unique taste! This is real Ramen!
Absolutely delicious. Very innovative. And lives up to its Chefs Table fame. Teukensen order had a HUMONGOUS portion though.
Broth was amazing!
Fairly noisy, but not uncomfortable.
Service was exceptional.
Ivan Ramen beer was very good.
Excellent Ramen at reasonable prices! The fried eggplant was an amazing appetizer too!
Excellent service. Made a reservation and seated early. Food was out in a timely manner and servers offered personalized recommendations for us based on our likes and dislikes. Wonderful experience all around and the ramen was delicious!
Ivan Ramen continues to be the best ramen in the world. We've tried ramen all over the US and overseas--nobody beats the flavor. Whenever we're in NY we make sure at least one meal is at Ivan Ramen!
Fantastic food, super attentive service...don't think about it, DO IT...ramen freaks rejoice!!!!!!!!!
5 stars, every time.
Great family place to visit when visiting from out of town. Good, different than your home town. Make reservations.
Believe the hype
Every bit as good as they say on Chef's table. We were an anomaly there - married with teen daughter, everyone else was 20 something on a date. Service was very courteous, food was amazing, we loved it. Extremely loud or as Open Table calls it, "energetic."
Everything was great, only the Shio broth seemed to lack a little bit of depth of flavour.
Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable.
Good! Wish they had more options with ranges of spice and cost wasn’t so high for adding on to the ramen but overall great flavor and great service!
Incredible Ramen - the red chilli ramen was pretty spicy so make sure you can handle it. Also make sure you get the optional mushrooms that feel almost like noodles once they have soaked in the ramen. The pork belly bun was equally amazing with a tasty Ivan Ramen Mikkeler beer in a cool as f* can. Loved it. Try get a seat by the counter in front of the kitchen if you can.
Great service. They could really use air conditioning for the summer months! Nice house sake, excellent pork buns. However the ramen was just 'pretty good' to our tastes.
One of the best ramen I’ve ever had. I made a reservation for a second visit before I even got the check...THAT GOOD!
Couldn't leave NYC without trying the bowl that made Ivan Ramen. Everything in it was just delicious.
Sat at the bar. My meal took no time at all to be prepared. It was really loud and a little cramped, but overall the food was magnificent. Best ramen I’ve had.
Excellent, all around. The flavors transported me back to my days in Tokyo, the service was quick / excellent, and the birru selection was solid. Exceeded expectations.
The place was
