Very enjoyable and good service. Food was good and unique for this area
JC was phenomenal; made me feel like a VIP in the chaos! Came for the band. Felt right at home. Quite an enjoyable night! (We only ordered drinks; didn't eat so I can't rate the food or value, sorry)
Enjoy the atmosphere and the menu very much. After dinner we sat at the bar and met the owner very friendly he was making a cocktail called prohibition it looked and smelled wonderful so we had to order one. Very nice cocktail. We were Only visiting but will be back if we are in the neighborhood.
One of my favorite restaurants in San Clemente. I would recommend it for a first date. Family gatherings are good too. Dancing and music was excellent.
We just moved home to California after living in New Orleans for four years and had great expectations for this restaurant. We really wanted to like it, but it was average at best. We knew going into it that we couldn’t hold it to the same standards as a Southern restaurant in the south, but the food fell far short even with tempered expectations. The best thing I can say about our experience was that we ate food that was edible, but certainly not worth what we paid.
Shrimp was over cooked, fried chicken was dry, the fried green tomatoes were great apart from the overpowering (and unnecessary) cheese on them, the hush puppies were surprisingly moist (a good thing), and the gumbo was ok.
We won’t go back, but would encourage others to try it, you might love the food and music, but it wasn’t for us.
I liked being in a diffetent restaurant for the easter holiday thus time. The buffet was small but good except for the potatoes dish. Chicken not very tender. I didn't like the cost for proseco and their steep price by the bottle. Corkage fee very high as well. Still pleased with our overall ecperience.
We live in central Orange County, and this is a good halfway point to meet friends from San Diego. Have only been here for dinner, so can't comment on Sunday brunch. The restaurant is NOISY because of the bar so, if you are sensitive to noise, request a table on the patio. There are heaters out there, and it is quieter.
The food is good (no, it's not New Orleans, but the menu honors NOLA with a variety of Cajun dishes as well as more standard fare). It wasn't quite as spicy as some in our group would have liked, but next time they will ask for it to be spicy (and probably will then say it's TOO spicy ;-) ).
The serving staff is friendly and accommodating. It is possible that they could use another person or two as, especially on this most recent visit, we had fairly long waits for our drinks and meal. Of course, it was a busy Saturday night, and the restaurant was full.
We'll go back both for the location and the food
The food was fantastic and the staff was friendly and service driven. Great experience!!
Great food, great music, dancing and atmosphere. Everything I am looking for in a night out! Will be back.
Interesting decor emulating old New Orleans. There is a large bar as you enter. Menu is predominately Louisiana dishes. My wife had excellent shrimp and grits and I had a very nice blackened salmon. Bread pudding was good but not up to New Orleans standard. Service was very good.
Great craft cocktails Entertaining live music. Delicious menu selections, Jambalaya shrimp and cheese plate were excellent.
Very nice service people and great food
Fun band with no cover. Great service. Older crowd.
Cannot beat the Tuesday Mardi Gras menu offered every week. Fried chicken entree for $10 that could easily go for $23. Unique pork slider served on a savory doughnut and delicious mac n cheese. It's been a while since I've been this impressed with food at a restaurant..especially in San Clemente. Service was lovely and ambiance was more exciting than the typical OC restaurant. Looking forward to going back again!
We appreciated the $10 menu options and happy hour priced drinks on Tuesday!
I have been enjoying the food, music, staff and friends at Iva Lees for years. It is the best friendly and entertainment scene in Orange County.
We were there to see a band. The bar dining setup is not good when a band plays as my group of 6 was seated directly in front of the speakers. I mean like 3 ft from someone’s head. We left early.
Awesome place for Dinner, eclectic cocktails and great energy! Food was on point. RC our server was perfect. Callan our bartender makes perfect cocktails. Band and Dancing was amazing. Can't say enough great things.
Wonderful food, cool vib. Shrimp & Grits was amazing...keep a glass of water nearby!

My boyfriend and I came here for Valentine’s date night and the food was incredible! Service was a little slow at first but after we got our orders in they always checked in on us. Very friendly. Definitely recommend the velvet cake!
We went on Valentines Day. There were four of us. Not a big fan of the prefix menu however the food was very good. Three courses. Our friends had crab cakes. We choose the salad with fresh strawberries. For the main entree I choose the filet. For desert they had a large variety to choose from. The only negative was the server. We sat out on the patio with heat lamps very quiet and nice however the server rarely stopped by.
Always a fun place to go! Different menu and ambiance from many other restaurants.
The jambalaya and the salmon were terrific. This is a fun place.
I grew up in the South and enjoy restaurants that are southern themed. Iva Lee's has a great menu and lists all the dishes one would hope southern cooks would prepare. The food was well prepared but had a California spin. The taste of the food was somewhat modified which attracts a packed house. Even so, it was good and soothing to my southern tastes and I was very satisfied with the jambalaya and collard greens I had with fine corn bread.
Service was good. Just very busy!
Food was amazing! Got a little loud when band started.
Service was subpar. Menu hasn’t changed in years, and needs some updating. Portions were small for price. I had the salmon and it was a very small piece. I love the ambiance of Iva Lee’s and the music and was disappointed this time.
Iva Lee’s is a vibrant and fun restaurant with New Orleans cuisine ... good music many nights of the week.
This was a really fun find in San Clemente! They have awesome drink and food specials on Tuesdays, and line dancing in the bar area was fun to watch. The service was very attentive. Our favorite was the jambalaya...$10 (half price) on Tuesdays for a huge spicy bowl! We'll definitely be back.
My husband and I had a cozy booth and we both enjoyed our food very much, especially those tasty garlic mashed potatoes! All servers were helpful and kind. The band was excellent too!
Great food, great drinks, great service! The band sounded great and all around good time had by all! Would recommend the salmon and the fried chicken
Great food, fun spot, but sit on the patio if you want to have any conversation because inside is LOUD. Like insanely loud--even at the opposite end from the live music. The patio is wonderful, even on a cold winter night.
This was our second time to Iva Lee’s. Good Southern comfort food with good cocktails, beer and wine. Butternut raviolis were the best entree choice
I live in San Diego, but when I am in the area or someone is the area it is my first choice. Food and Service has always been excellent.
This is a great local restaurant with music Wed, Thur, Fri and Saturday. It has a small dance floor and is lots of fun with lively people. The food is very good and the prices are very reasonable.
We had a great time on New Year's Eve at Iva Lee's with our party of 12! The ambiance in the dining room and the excellent food and beverages was a pleasure for all. We love to dance so it was fun to have the DJ but I must say I would rather have a live band especially at Iva Lees as they always have such great music. It was fun to have a DJ who brought in the New year hour with a count down but I think a strong band leader could do the same.
Food was good, but really slow in coming....salad took almost 30 minutes. We finally asked the waitress whether lettuce was being grown out back? Nice table...maitre'd worked hard to get us a nice table...Fried chicken was only a breast? Some of us like dark meat!
Service could have been a bit faster....my husband ordered another wine, she totally forgot it...but she was friendly enough? We'll try it again, all about supporting local spots!
Took visiting family there for food and live music. It’s such a fun place. Order the pork chop! We all decided that was the best.
Cold gumbo, way to much dressing on salads. Tasted terrible and waitress didn’t even ask us why we didn’t eat it. Place was half empty on a Friday night. Clearly a Restaurant in decline. Would not be surprised if it closes soon.
