About It's Italia
It's Italia opened in 1997 as a San Francisco style trattoria and pizzeria serving gourmet pizzas, house pastas, and creative salads, always with a California Italian flavor, and a wine list of 10-12 varietals.
Ten years later, our menu has expanded to include steak and seafood grilled specialties, artful antipasti, and a decadent array of housemade desserts from our pastry chef. Over 120 bottles line up on our wine list from Italy, California, France, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand.
As always, we have remained faithful to a local coastal California Italian cuisine, with its cosmopolitan nature, bringing produce and cheeses from local farms, meats and poultry from quality and organic growers, and seafood from a variety of waters.

It's Italia Ratings and Reviews
Had an absolutely wonderful 4 course price fix meal for Valentine’s Day! Special care went into each dish from the appetizer, salad, main course and dessert to make it delicious, romantic and memorable! They also featured a special Valentine’s Day Drink with a rose petal as a decorative addition and a cranberry ice cube in each glass.
I chose fresh heirloom tomato buratta for my appetizer, the beet salad, 16 oz. bone in rib eye with sautéed onions an mushrooms (yum!) and to finish it off, I had the strawberries with zabagione! So good! My husband chose the Salume and cheese appetizer, filet mignon, and chocolate mouse. Oh so good!
Great prompt service throughout the evening.
It’s Italia, you really outdid yourselves! Thanks!!
This is one my most favorite restaurants and I just love it. However the valentine menu wasn’t so successful. The beet salad was an unseasoned random collection of items, my lamb was tough and almost inedible and the desserts were just not up to normal standards. Took a couple bites and pushed them away. Sad ending. Of course I will return and still love the food but this was surprising.
Seated 30 min after reserved time. Poor slow service. Salad came before bread and wine. They "couldn't find" the ordinary $42 wine we ordered. Recommended a substitution. I was blown away when bill came with $72 wine! Did not have tiramusu. Did not comp dessert we we promisef due to late seating. We asked to have it deducted. Maybe all just a bad busy sat night but very poor experience. Food was good but not worth all the other stuff.
My husband and I live nearby but seldom go out in Half Moon Bay for dinner. We were so happily surprised by It’s Italia! The clams/mussels in tequila broth appetizer, prime rib and slow cooked short ribs were outstanding. The service was also above and beyond, so at the end of the night, we felt like we had the perfect date.
We requested seating outside where we were able to sit next to the outdoor fireplace. It was a colder evening so the heating lamps were on and out seating outside was perfect. The food was delicious as always and the STRACCHINO STUFFED FOCACCIA BALLS and BURRATA BRUSCHETTA were liked by all. I always enjoy their food there and love that they change it up with the seasons.
We arrived for our dinner reservation on New Year's Eve and were presented with a special menu--a four course meal dinner option that we were not expecting. We could have ordered from the regular menu upon request, but we decided to go for the special menu since it was New Year's Eve. We had the most outstanding meal and the best service by Soleil! The meal included champagne, a delicious choice of appetizer, a beautiful salad, a choice of four different entrees, and a magical dessert. We were treated like VIPs, so the whole experience was wonderful. Thank you to It's Italia for making New Year's Eve so special!
The brunch is outstanding! I would drive just for the popovers. The nicoise salad was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. My dining companion had the huevos rancheros and loved it. I have had dinner here a couple of times and really enjoyed it. The bar is fun too.
This is a very special restaurant for myself and 2 close friends. The food is delicious and of the best quality. Our waiter, Richard is superb, & we are comfortable sitting there for hours celebrating special occasions!!! The focaccia bread IS MADE THERE; the salmon is the best I have ever tasted; the garlic mashed potatoes sublime. Need I say more???
We joined the action as a family with our grandkids. The menu was varied and offered some unusual dishes that all enjoyed. Janet was our server and did a good job with 4 adults and 2 small children. The only challenge was in ordering Wine. Our first two choices were unavailable. We have eaten here before and will return.
Food was exceptional; they were out of the first two wines we ordered and the service was quite slow. Took someone over 10 mins to greet us once we were sat and didn’t get much better after.
However, I would highly recommend this place because the food is absolutely incredible. We had the prawns, octopus and clams/mussels as appetizers and they were fantastic. Pizza is great. All the pastas were fresh and delicious
Really excellent Italian food, full of fresh ingredients. Great wine list, including Italian wines. Our waiter (Ben ?) was really professional and very pleasant. Even in the middle of the restaurant, it was quiet enough for conversation. Lovely, warm atmosphere. We didn't sit outside, but the outdoor patio and fireplace looked very inviting. We'll be back !!
