Situated in downtown Austin, Italic is a rustic and sophisticated Italian restaurant that creates approachable cuisine with a full menu of Italian favorites, plenty of cocktails and wines, sweet confections and an American made pizza oven. Open weekdays for lunch and dinner, Saturday for dinner, and Sunday for brunch, Italic is perfect for a family meal or an intimate date night.
The menu at Italic is all fresh and inspired by casual dining. You will be pleasantly surprised by the butternut squash soup with candied pecans, apple and chives or simply delighted by the mezzaluna pasta with acorn squash, cippolini, saba, brown butter and pecorino.
Great meal and experience at Italic. Would highly recommend. Bistica steak was wonderful. Our server Johnathan was attentive and made our time at the restaurant a delightful experience.
The food and ambience is excellent. Comprehensive wine list was superb!
I'm a gnocchi snob, but I rated this a 4 of 5 stars only because it was the 2nd best I've had, still very good though. MGreat, great service. Order the chocolate sorbet, it's mind blowing!
Food was delicious, service great, tables a bit too close together, but will be back.
Pizza was fantastic and the service was great! The other entrees were good but a bit salty and not super hot when delivered. We would definitely go back for strachiatelli gelato dessert.
My fiance and I came here for my birthday- we had a 7:30 reservation but wanted to come in early for HH, unfortunately a private party was booked for HH and we couldnt partake. When my fiance walked in to ask about it the hostess wasn't the warmest or apologetic of people.
Finally we came back to Italic for our reservation and were seated in the front section thats surrounded by windows-very open and pretty. We had the BEST service that we have had in all of Austin. Our server, Maria, was very attentive, polite, knowledgable and made great recommendations. She even brought out a couple of special dishes from the kitchen for my birthday. Seriously, ask for Maria! She is the BEST.
We ordered two pastas (bolognese & mezzluna, and a pizza (soppressata). All the dishes were amazing!!! Cannot go wrong here.
Great lunch for our party of 7
Outstanding meal twice in a week. Staff went out of their way to accomodate my large group on very short notice
Great food, great service! Enough said!
What a sweet spot! Very welcoming, great service Jonathan was out awesome waiter. He was very personable and a great guy who definitely enjoyed his work! Food was great and will be back soon❣
love this place! the only downside was when we checked in for our reservation we were led past SEVERAL open tables in the middle room and sat in the far room on the other side of the wall.
We were the only people to be seated there at the time. Hostess was nice to move us after we requested to be seated in middle room.
We loved everything, service was impeccable, food was great! We had the ravioli for an appetizer, I had the flounder and my wife had the duck! Bubbles were great too!
Amazing as always. Allison was our waitress and she was fantastic.
Brunch service was really slow.
The duck was a very small portion for the price and I had to send it back as my request for medium well was not met.
Italic was a wonderful dining experience! The service was very welcoming and the ambiance was perfect - good lighting and music set just right so you can hear your date. Everything we ordered was delicious and healthy. The wine pairing was a perfect match to one of our entrees. I highly recommend Italic!
Italic has become our favorite place, whether we're dining alone or meeting friends. The latest time was my husband's birthday, and we five stayed at the table for hours. It felt like we were in Paris, relaxed and having a good time with good food and wine, and a full bar with delicious Negronis. Very good addition to Austin.
Italic's posh and modern atmosphere was warm and inviting. My girlfriend and I were greeted happily and barely seated before our server, Priscilla, had politely taken our drink order and offered up some tips about the menu. Priscilla was upbeat, fast, and very energetic. It was like ordering from a friend (she deserves a raise!). In fact, all of the staff we encountered were extremely professional, polite, and positive.
The food was simply superb! Italic has a detailed but not intimidating menu. We opted for the family style option, and although the cost was a bit more than ordering a la carte, we took enough food home for a couple of more meals for each of us. The roasted chicken was buttery and crispy, and seasoned perfectly. The salad and sides - zucchini & greens, Sicilian fried potatoes, and green beans - were each fresh, unique and wonderfully flavorful. However, without a doubt, the star dish of the evening was the penne bolognese! The flavors were rich, the sauce was creamy and the house-made pasta was fresh and perfectly cooked. We finished off the night with a delicious chocolate ganache and biscotti dish (that was a little bit like chocolate pudding) and absolutely fantastic cappuccino.
Oh and great craft beers!
Thank you, Italic, for making our anniversary dinner a perfect beginning to our evening! We'll be back for sure!
Food was tasty and authentic. Service was amazing! Our server was very attentive and gave us suggestions of what were his favorites and what potion sizes were. I ordered a spritz and it tasted just like when I was in Italy! There weren't a lot of people there, even though on Opentable we couldn't book an earlier or later reservation which was weird. There also wasn't much ambiance, walls seemed plain and furniture portrayed a cold feeling. The only nice part was the open bar slash kitchen area. Overall liked the restaurant and if we are back in Austin would not mind going back.
We've been wanting to try Italic for over a year...So many good things were said about this place from our friends...We were excited to finally had the opportunity to. Love the ambience and layout...Plus. Outstanding and highly knowledgeable and personable server...big PLUS. Had a yummy kid dish (non pizza) not published on the menu...Plus. Outstanding drinks...Plus. Tough to decide on menu...everything sounds so good!...Plus. Entrees...2 of 3 entrees were over salted, badly...Minus. :-(
We were totally bummed about the seasoning of our dishes. May give it another try, since our 11 yr old enjoyed her meal so much and everything else was great. However so many other places to try hard to make the time for a repeat.
We loved our meal here. The service was a bit slow. The food was outstanding.
Although the food was very good, the service was not. The server was extremely forgetful and we had to ask multiple times to remind her of second drinks, an appetizer she forgot, and even when the manager stepped in to help, it didn't improve because drinks were still forgotten and we felt bombarded by multiple people trying to help. At the end we had three people cleaning up our table and one of them dropped silverware on me and stained my dress. Our first visit last month was wonderful but this visit has more than taken away from that experience. While we appreciated that they removed the appetizer from our bill since it arrived after we had all finished dinner, it felt like too little too late after the multiple mishaps. Will likely not return despite our love of the food.
We had an excellent experience Our wait staff was incredibly helpful, courteous and patient.
Great for brunch! Went for my birthday and was well taken care of with amazing service and even complimentary birthday dessert and morning cookies. On top of that the new brunch menu was delicious and everything was really good!
Modern and elegant but still casual.
Great service and food.
Prices a bit too expensive.
Sitting on the metallic benches was REAL cold !!!
Delicious dinner with my daughter recently. Everyone was friendly and solicitous and our waitress made great suggestions on the menu since it was our first visit. A terrific restaurant and we will be back!
We were placed in the back room. We hoped to have a table with a view outside to watch the downtown foot traffic.
Our dinner here was fantastic. I am still thinking about it days later, it was that good. The penne bolognese came with a white wine cream sauce, a combo I was curious about as I would have expected a red sauce with that kind of combination. However it was beyond just "good," it was fantastic. The fried polenta was like eating buttery, fluffy little pillows of savory goodness. The central Italian wines our waiter suggested went perfectly with the meal and overall I can't recommend this place enough.
Great food and service but like all modern restaurants, it's too loud. I wish more fabric could be used to soften the noise level.
Met a friend for dinner at Italic a few nights ago. Little did we know, it was Wine Wednesday! They have a special in the bar area, a $5 glass of white and red, along with complimentary cheese. I'm a little leery of $5 wine, but gave it a shot anyway. Much to my surprise, the $5 wine was actually very good. We ended up sitting eating up front in the bar area where there is a fantastic view for people watching in downtown Austin. The food was excellent. I had the gnocchi and would absolutely recommend them. My friend had the zucchini salad and some prosciutto, both of which she said were wonderful. Would absolutely go again!
Best meal, best wine, best service. Chef Drew is the greatest. So much care, so much love put into every element of the experience. When the employees are as dedicated, and as happy, as these ladies and gents are, you know you're in a place that is run well. From the kitchen, to the bar, to the hostess stand. Two thumbs up.
We enjoy going there, yet they don[t have the Cauliflour anymore and some of the dishes (even though Delicious) are not quite as good as they were in the beginning. We still go there frequently
The food was delicious!
The service & atmosphere were wonderful. The food tasted great however the portions were a little small for the cost.
We had a great time. Terrific food at a reasonable price, a pretty interior design, good bar, personable wait staff--a new favorite.
Were in town for our anniversary and stumbled upon italic and just loved loved loved the food. Our server was not super top notch but not super bad either. I had the summer veggies gnocchi and my husband had the italian sausage pizza. Both were so flavorful! Wine selection was excellent.
Started with house made pici which were outstanding - superb texture and excellent sauce that seemed too be made with a great veal broth. Filled by a pizza with salami, cheese, and peppers. Finished with Steak Florentine which was simply as fine a steak as I have ever had. Far better than previous Steak Florentine at other restaurants including in in Tuscany. Simply divine. A great T-bone, olive oil, capers, preserved lemons, and parsley. All with beautifully paired wines from Badia a Coltibuono. Two of us shared one order of each course and had more than enough to eat. A near perfect meal!
Made a last minute reservation and sat in the front section with a constantly changing street view. We nicknamed our waiter, Dylan, "Dylan Pellegrino" and he was attentive without meddling. The burrata app served with pickled veggies was a perfect exercise in "sweet and savory. The cheese plate with the peach "mostrada" showed similar contrasts in great flavors and both came with perfectly grilled rustic Italian bread. The half chicken had a perfect blend of crunchy skin and juicy, flavorful meat. The Penne Rigate Alla Bolognese was meaty with great flavor. The "Budino Di Chocolato" and the Crostata with Peaches were both lovely desserts, the former presenting a robust chocolate influence... delightful! Go to Italic today! If you are with a group and want to party, sit in the bar. If you are on the date which calls for conversation and interaction "a deux", sit in the front. Italic is a very good restaurant and it is great to see Austin finally get the Italian food it deserves. Ask for "Dylan Pellegrino". he is a very good waiter. Johnny N.
Enjoyed the brunch at Italic. Attentive and friendly service. Good imaginative menu.
Another exceptional dining experience. One recommendation, try to sit in the front to middle part of the restaurant... the back always feels like you are in a closet :-(. It's a great place for large groups.
