Italianissimo Ratings and Reviews
We had a very enjoyable dinner in celebration of our anniversary. The food was very good, and well presented. My only criticisms--it was a bit slow placing our order, and bread was just average. When waiting for a meal, it's always nice to have bread that's been warmed, that's light with a crunchy crust! The tiny butter cookies at the end of the meal was a very good touch.
My daughter and I were in town for the day and this was the perfect ending to our visit. The atmosphere is perfect, cozy and elegant at the same time. The servers were helpful with food choices and wine selection. The prices were reasonable for the exceptional meal. Thank you so much.
We have been dining here for several years and it really is a family favorite. Everything we order is excellent. The waiters are attentive, but not intrusive. Favorite meals include the spaghetti carbonara, the cold antipasto and the chicken Romano. All the desserts are great, but when we have the impulse for something special we order the zabaglione or the bananas flambé. So good. We went tonight after going to the Met museum and it topped off a lovely afternoon. A wonderful neighborhood place. We will be back.
They advertise an early bird special with no limitation other than time. We were there at the appropriate time, 5:50, and were told that it was not available on weekends. This was not mentioned on their web site nor the menu which was handed to us.

I worry about a restaurant that has typos on their website and their business cards. It's called attention to detail. What goes on in the kitchen? I ordered eggplant rollatine as a dinner and it was drowning in tomato sauce and tasted old. Service was a bit strained b/c they had 2 large parties for such a small place. Also, I think $16.95 is a little excessive for a dessert, although tasty. Very pricey for what we had. Won't be back.
How have I lived in this neighborhood and not known this restaurant was here? What a wonderful gem - great food, lovely atmosphere, and we were treated like special guests. It's a small, intimate restaurant on the bustling upper east side. I will be back again and again!
Dinner was OK. The chicken Parmesan was excellent. My pasta was just so-so. I wished that I had ordered something else. The wines by the glass were also just average for the price. We'd like to give it another try because the atmosphere is charming - very old world. Maybe it was an off night.
A small restaurant with high quality food. The atmosphere was quiet and comfortable. Everything we tried was excellent from the homemade pasta with meat sauce, veal with eggplant and mozzarella to the salmon. The food was high quality, freshly prepared and delicious. Will be going back.
