Italian Kitchen - Vancouver Ratings and Reviews
I am unimpressed with this place , at least for lunch . This was first time at new location and I hadn’t been to Alberni Street for a while . I found the menu too limited . AND they did not have the sautéed sprouts . The salad I ordered was disappointing . My son ordered carbonara and enjoyed it . No surprise but price was quite high but no longer justified . Service was OK . Noise level was fine . Location is very good .
Impressed with the new location and menu. The food was excellent and service very good. A big upgrade on the Albernie location, especially the food. This is the for top food and service of all the Glowbal restaurants. Hopefully the others can learn from who ever is running this place.
Was excited to see that Italian Kitchen was back! So many good meals there in the past. Lived up to our memory in every way except found the lighting too bright in the dining room center. Would ask for a window seat next time and in summer look forward to experience the patio. Overall can't wait to return
Classy downtown business restaurant with proper professional waiters, white tablecloths, excellent food and wine. A bit noisy if you're seated in the middle, but it's also the best place to feel part of the action. It's going to be one of my go-to places from now on.
We went there from time to time. Food is alright and service usually is really attentive. I think it is kinda busy there tonight ( Sunday Oct 22,2017), the waiter keep rushing us to order the main course even we told him 3 times that one of our friend isn't arrived yet. And we do order a bottle of wine and 3 appetites already. Really disappointed
Enjoyed our dinner and a nice bottle of wine. Everything would have been terrific if the waiter had been a little assuming. He presented us with our bill all neatly divided into 3 separate checks with out asking. I can only imagined why he thought that was necessary even though it was clear we were celebrating someone. Very rude assumption I thought.
We went recently to celebrate our anniversary, if you want an intimate date night I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. We had to yell across the table to have any sort of conversation it was very loud. Lots of hustle and bustle in a tight space. We ordered the Antipasto Rustico to start and found the cheeses to be very bland. BUT our dinner was amazing and would go back for sure! Great for a fun night out with a group.
Service was very slow - granted it was Saturday evening but one would think this might be typical and the powers that be would plan accordingly.
We were seated upstairs where the noise level ensured that a 60 decibel 'normal' conversation wasn't going to happen. It was closer to that of a leaf blower. Considering that our group can be loud, and we're also very tolerant we found this verging on too much.
Would I go back? Absolutely, because I love the food. Just have to remember to ask to be seated downstairs where the leaf blowers are dialed back substantially.
Service wasn't bad But it wasn't good either! Every other table had bread but we were forgotten I guess unless one must ask specifically for bread in this restaurant. Food required salt! Everything I ate was tasteless and probably the most expensive of their menu. We made a reservation days ago but we were placed in the middle of a busy loud room. If I visited Vancouver again I sure I would spend my money elsewhere!!
Went to the Italian Kitchen for a birthday date. The host and our server was amazing, so nice and friendly. It was a busy Sunday night with a big birthday group on one side of the restaurant so we had to wait about 30 - 40 mins for our appetizer and another 20 mins for our entree.
My significant other's dish was nice and hot while my dish was a bit too al dente and not quite as hot. It was an overall good experience for the both of us but was just a tad bit disappointed.
One server was rude and unresponsive to our request to address the cold evening breeze from open windows on 2nd floor.
Very loud cavernous space that affected our ability to carry a conversation at our table.
Would not recommend this restaurant as the food service was terribly slow and not exceptional Italian to merit returning.
After an excellent meal with great service a week earlier we were disappointed with our second visit. The staff on this occasion did not appear to be well trained- too many people coming and going without a great deal of skill in service : - wine glasses taken away when we ordered cocktails; we were informed the fish of the day was not on the menu after we had ordered it; when requested the wine list sat on the table and there was no follow up until the food arrived, water glasses were not replenished during the meal. Given the quality of the food and the excellent venue the service let you down.
We were a party of six. A big variety was ordered and everyone enjoyed their meal. I shared the pasta platter and it was fabulous. Favourite one was the "truffle" with meatballs. Calamari to start was a good choice. My one criticism is that they make you pay for bread.
Service was superb. The waiter and hosts attended to every detail, from noting our anniversary to finding a spot on my husband's champagne glass. The staff makes you feel welcome. However, it would be nice if the hostesses at the front said good-bye's and thank you's. This is something that all restaurants don't think of (except for Japanese restaurants). The food was excellent as usual. Ambience was vibrant and elegant . Italian Kitchen is always our favourite for special occasions.
This was our second visit to this restaurant. In both cases the food was great. We felt rushed in that the server brought our food before we could even wind down. Then we needed to ask for items such as a serving of bread with olive oil. To top it off the cappuccino served after our meal was mildly warm. Overall a little disappointing after all the fanfare.
