   We purchased two special deals totaling $120. Each deal included: 'two can dine for $60", a glass of champagne, an appetizer platter and an entree platter. (Note: due to the stormy weather, we dined in Trattoria instead of Italian Kitchen (West Van location). Pros: Kudos to the chef! The food was excellent. Also, the special deal did convinced us to try Italian Kitchen's West Van location. The majority of staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room has a good layout and we liked the use of wood, wine racks and large tool chest converted as a condiment/supplies storage unit. The room somewhat reminded us of Wally's in Beverly Hills, California but on a much smaller scale (e.g. size, quality of finishings and wine offerings, etc.). Cons: It would have been helpful to have had a printed menu for reference. This would have helped us see what was included in each course and as part of the deal. The waiter did not tell us dessert was NOT included; so, we ended up having to pay for them. We also weren't aware that an 18% tip would automatically be added to the full regular value. Due to food allergies, we asked to have some food placed onto a separate plate, while the restaurant did accommodate this simple request, the waiter seemed displeased with the request as if it were a major burden.

   We checked out this restaurant because we could not get a table at the Alberni location for IK's remarkable dinner for two. The restaurant is really just a covered patio and so we enjoyed watching the vehicular hijinks as the Sunday shoppers made their way out of the mall grounds. Felt a bit of a sprinkle as a late summer shower set in but were compensated by a glorious double rainbow visible from our table. Oh, yes, and the food was pretty wonderful too!

   We love the food at the Italian Kitchen, especially the mixed pasta platter. It's great if you like to try different dishes. Also love the it alien doughnuts.

   Service was good but the appetizer came out before our drinks, and oddly enough some of the meal was really overdone, almost inedible. Charred Brussels sprouts should at least have some green on them somewhere. The meatballs had to have a charred outside removed. The veal parmigiana was well over cooked. Having said that the pastas were excellent and the bruschetta sampler was very good. Service was very good as well.

   not bad, very small and the plastic roof and windows were a little wierd. Overall the food was good and service was awesome.

   Food was nicely presented but taste quite bland. The floor near our table was not very sturdy, everytime the servers walk by, our chairs would wiggle like we're sitting on sponge. We felt every step during dinner. When we requested to sit in the dining room downstairs, we were turned down by our waitress with the reason " It's a different part of the restaurant. " ?!?! Manager's service was very professional considering our waitress rarely showed up at our table. She didn't offer drink refreshments or additional food orders. No wine list and no menu was given whatsoever. Not very fond of the group of flies hovering over our heads and food during the whole meal. If you must visit Italian Kitchen I highly recommend the Downtown location.

   Our server was inexperienced and repeatedly kicking the chair while in between tables which does not make sense since the dining room patio was not busy and there was enough room to walk the other way. Server also grated Parmesan all over our table into our drinks and our laps and did not apologize (just re-poured new waters). Appetizers were good but the main courses were bland and very oily. The location on Alberni downtown is much better.

   Overall it was an amazing experience. The food is great. Their tiramisu is PERFECT! I will definitely dining there again.

    A few more heaters would be a nice improvement for those colder days. Other than that service and food were great!
