Islands Dining Room at Loews Royal Pacific Resort Ratings and Reviews
We decided to eat here for a character experience. I made reservations as on line it shows the minions would be there. They were not. It was our entire reason for choosing this restaurant as my daughters favorite thing in Universal is the minions. They did have characters but it was only Scooby Doo and Velma. I was expecting more characters and was very disappointed in the entire experience. The food was good but I would not have made a special trip to this restaurant which was at a different resort than we were staying at to eat.
Stayed at Lowes Royal Pacific on second Universal Orlando trip. Tried the Islands Dining Room for character dining experience with the family. Met Bart Simpson and Scooby-Doo. Service was attentive, was quiet night and characters came by more than once. Food was very good as were the drinks. Would absolutely dine there again.
Came here with my family of 5 for the character breakfast. First off; the Resort is beautiful. Clean. And the staff were very very helpful and friendly.
The food was delicious and there was a wide variety of options on the buffet.
The kids LOVED THE CHARACTER experience.
The characters were great with the kids and we saw many. Woody woodpecker, two bunnies from Hop, Kevin (minion) and gru, as well as Bart Simpson.
It was just a fabulous morning and a great way to start the day and kick off vaca week!!!
Thank you Islands restaurant for a great morning.
As you would expect with any resort restaurant the experience was passable, but not superb. The service was quick and efficient, but you can tell that their goal is to get customers in and out for a quick turn over. The food can be expected to be high dollar, but there was no flair or excuse to say "it's worth it we are on vacation". I wouldn't skip this place, but it most certainly would not have it at the top of my list.
We went for the character breakfast on the sunday. Way too expensive!!! 26.99$ for a buffet that was really simple. 14.99$ for kids. Not a lot of choices. The room has nothing special. The service were ok, but nothing more. As for
The character, we saw Bart and his father, Easter bunny, Gru and a Minion. Would not go back and for that price, would certainly not recommande it!
This was the first night of our family vacation. Food was fine. Picked Monday night to dine because it was supposed to be a character night. The only two characters that came out were Homer and Bart Simpson. My 5 yr old was not impressed. I was also excited for him to get to play in the kids area with Bali style play area (according to what I read online) but there was not a kids area to be found. Disappointed!
Went with family foroom Easter Brunch. It was a wonderful experience. Service was great, food tasty, with lots of options. Particularly liked crab legs and Asian bar. They also did a great job catering to my gluten-free daughter.
We would definitely recommend this place!
The service was really slow. We were never explained where to get our drinks from until we asked after we had been sitting there for a bit. The only saving grace for our waiter was that he came to apologize for being held up with something the time while we were there. Had he not apologized we would have had some of the worst service but he made up for it with that. Overall the food was good and empty trays were replaced quickly. Overall a pretty good place for breakfast!
We had dinner here our first night at the hotel (Friday) in hopes of seeing hula dancer and ukele player as stated on website. Hostess didn't even know what I was talking about. Kids enjoyed play room with bed/TV to lay on. Service was fine because no one was in there at 6:30pm (a sign??). Shrimp pad Thai ($24) was completely bland and the pork on my sons ramen dish ($20) was greasy & rubbery with fake looking grill marks. Inedible! We did go back for the character breakfast and the food from menu was good and place was crowded. Good thing we had a reservation (Sunday).
POSITIVE: Excellent waiter.
NEGATIVE:Came because my grandson wanted to see minions - the fact that there is no schedule of what characters are going to be at the breakfast until an hour before is rediculous! The Simpson's are not going to appeal to the same children as the minions would to younger children.
Unfortunately the food smelled much better than it tasted. I don't usually leave negative reviews. However we had four in our party. All ordered different items. And, no one really liked their food. The restaurant had only a minimal number of people, and the service was poor.
I enjoyed both the breakfast buffet and the dinner wok special, both were 'eat as much as you want from a wide variety of options' type meals. The staff were friendly and professional. I saw them greeting everyone as if each person was the most important person at that moment. There was enough variety to please both healthy eaters and those who pile on the bacon. The Sunday morning character breakfast is a special treat. Oh, they also have a full menu, but I went for the more inclusive option (everything included except adult beverages).
The service was fine, the food was subpar. After all the reviews I read I was hopeful that the food would be delicious unfortunately we were disappointed. The calamari was greasy, the seared tuna had a strange pungent sauce and the forbidden rice it was served with was completely unseasoned. The coconut soup was very average, as was the green curry.
We booked the Loews Royal Pacific Islands Dining room for our trip character breakfast and we we agreed that this was definitely the best that we had experienced by far. The food was outstanding and the staff was even better. Both the wait staff and the character staff were friendly and funny going well beyond expectations. This was at a significantly better price compared our previously experiences in large parks. We will be back. It was great. At we would consider staying at the resort next time simply based on this experience. Our only disappointment was that this is the last day of the trip and we can't go again.
The food was really good and the service was excellent. The line for the wok experience was a bit long, but the appetizers were great. Best part, other than the service(Yasir was great), was the surprise when we tried the dinners rolls and realized they were Hawaiian rolls.
We ate at the Islands dining room our first night at our hotel Lowe's Royal Pacific and our meal was fantastic. We went back for new years the following night and were seriously disappointed. Our dinner for 2 adults and 2 children came to just under $300 (that's before any alcohol) and then was subject to numerous taxes and gratuities so it came to a total of $360. The food was buffet and luke warm, not good at all. I would have much preferred the menu from the night before. The one thing that was consistently excellent both nights was our server John. He went above and beyond, gave great service both nights and great advice on the menu and wines at our first meal. We will never go back for a new years eve at Lowe's Royal Pacific Resort. If we are there again over new years we will do something else.
We booked a table for New Year's Eve months in advance, thinking this would be an a la carte experience (as it stated on the homepage). Much to our surprise, a buffet was served, at 85$ per person. Furthermore, different noice making devices were handed out to kids, which made the sound pollution severe. The food in the buffet was not worth the extortionate price.
Needless to say, we are very disappointed with this experience.
Our waiter was very nice and apologetic for the noice.
We booked in for new years eve events which was also my birthday. we enjoyed a fabulous meal with plenty of choice . We also had visits from some of universals characters (Scrooby and shaggy & Mr and Mrs woody woodpecker) which added to the fun of the evening. My husband had also arranged a birthday cake for me which was amazing. The staff we're welcoming and friendly a wonderful evening.
The Christmas buffet was amazing. The only downfall on the buffet was that the seafood was over ice and the crab was very icy as in every time you took a bite you also got chunks of ice in your by as well. Other than that it was amazing and having the characters there was awesome as well!
