We enjoyed our meal very much and our server was wonderful.
We enjoyed the service and food very much, we wished the dining plan was excepted in these restaurants.
The service was awful. When my husband asked for an old fashion, the server said, “vodka?” Every drink was wrong - I finally took them to the bartender, who apologized. The food was fine, but the waitress didn’t bring us 2 appetizers - one was a meal for someone. We didn’t stay for further drinks or dessert. There was no one in there at 6:30 pm on a Saturday. Word must be out.
Coffee was substandard eggs were ok service was ok we really miss the breakfast buffet
Love their Tahitian French toast!
Great breakfast. A few gluten free options too(try the GF breakfast pizza)! Treat yourself to a mimosa while you’re at it!
The only issues with our recent dining experience were:
- The waiter entered the wrong order for my wife's meal, so she had to wait for them to provide the correct item, and
- We observed the waiter both serving multiple tables and bussing tables without changing gloves.
With COVID precautions Florida rules require separate people dedicated to serving and bussing tables, and glove changes between handling food for different tables to avoid cross contamination. Neither was done at Islands Dining Room on 10/2/2020.
(When the waiter brought my wife's correct order he also brought food for another table which was a reorder and I observed him touching their items after touching our items. BOO on that!)
We went for breakfast, the food and service were fabulous! It was actually so good we went back a 2nd time. The Tahitian French toast is a must.
The staff was very friendly. I don’t remember our server’s name but he was very nice and attentive. We would definitely eat there again.
Great service, good food. Reduced menu, no buffet. Price $$$. Good ambiance.
The food was actually pretty tasty, it was just such a limited menu and I felt there should be more options. Decor is very outdated and drab, certainly could feel a little more upscale for the prices. Our server was great! I’d eat here again, nothing wrong, but I did expect more as far as choice and ambiance from a Loews hotel.
So made a reservation for the Islands Dining Room after looking at the menu (American Faire). But when I got there, the menu was all Asian. Turns out Jake's is next door and the menu on OpenTable for Islands is wrong. Jake's was also crowded and noisier. I think they may share a common kitchen though cause they fixed the issue by letting us eat at Islands but from the Jake's menu. Also, we ate at Islands a year ago for breakfast. I remember it was a really good buffet. Unfortunately, with COVID there's no buffets right now and the menu's all have limited options.
Outstanding food and appetizers. Waiter provided excellent service and was very helpful with questions about the menu.
This was our first experience at Islands Dining. The breakfast menu offers a wide variety and includes gluten-free options. Our waiter, Mustapha, took exceptional care of us and deserves high praise for his attentiveness and kindness. We can highly recommend the Tahitian French toast and the POG juice. The atmosphere, ambience, and service all combine to make this place one of our new favorites!
The food and service was amazing.
Great food and service! Highly recommend. Loved the ambiance.
Waiter rushed us to order. Felt like he wanted us to eat fast and leave.
Food was phenomenal. However, service took almost 2 hours from beginning to end. I will get the server the benefit of the doubt that perhaps she was overloaded but the food and drinks simply took too long for the price that was paid. We had to find a manager to get our food that was pretty cold by the time it got to us. We ordered a 2nd cocktail and beer before the entree was eventually brought and we were done eating before getting the second drink. When we asked about it being on our bill they brought them in to-go containers. If the food had been piping hot it probably would have been considered one of our best meals on Universal property. Just can’t justify going back at the fear the service will be slow again.
Nice atmosphere. Pretty location. Good service. Close to the pool and walking distance to boat ride to universal studios resort
The restaurant was quiet, the waiter was excellent !!! I was disappointed that the menu was not asian only a couple of things were. They had a limited menu that was also served at Jakes. It was our 40th wedding anniversary and we were so looking forward to pan asian ! It did not give us the correct menu items on open table and the hotel website ! All that said the tomato soup with cheese biscuit was excellent !!! Just wanted a better experience and menu for our anniversary !!!
Absolutely wonderful. Incredible service, delicious food. Worth it.
I ordered the french toast and was really good! worth the money.
Everything was amazing from the food to our waiter , Mustafa. He made sure we had everything we needed and he was so special to our son. Thank you for a wonderful vacation memory :)
Food was excellent!
Food and service were good but the floor was extremely dirty with food and trash leftover from breakfast. Should have been cleaned up immediately but I think they waited until we left.
Had breakfast before going to the parks. French toast, pancakes, and omelet. All delicious. Pretty pricey for breakfast, cost $50 plus tip. Dinner the night before at Vivo for 3 was $50 plus tip so same price. Expensive but very yummy. Good amount of food.
John was attentive & kind. Thank you for brightening our day with your positive demeanor!
My favorite dish was the Salmon!
My family and I had a great meal and the service was great.
The dinner menu is small and limited, and if you don’t like Asian-inspired fare, walk across the hall to Jake’s, which offers American food such as burgers. You might even be able to order from Jake’s menu and have it served at Islands. My salmon bowl off the Islands dinner menu was fresh and delicious, and the bread pudding dessert was decadent. My classic margarita on the rocks was excellent. Our server was friendly and very well trained. We also had breakfast there a couple of days later, and if you have a sweet tooth, order the Tahitian French Toast — decadent and delicious!
I understand things are not normal at the moment, but we booked here for my birthday dinner and the menu was completely different from what was online. In fact it was the menu to the restaurant across the hall, Jakes. I was incredibly disappointed by that. We would have eaten elsewhere had we known this. Service was fine, but I was so disappointed to end up ordering fish and chips, the only thing I was able to eat in the menu, when I had intended to eat Asian fare.
Overall very disappointing.
Food was cooked to perfection. Beef was tender. Waiter was supper great. Took great care of my party.
Armando was wonderfully accommodating as were the hostess and water person. Thanks
Just not what we were expecting. The food was mediocre at best.
Service and food was great!
This place isn’t good. The wok thing is like supermarket stir fry. Way better options, including Panda Express in food court at city walk.
I was actually a little disappointed in the food I ordered. I got the Krab Rangon as an appetizer. The filling was tasty with a good amount of crab meat but I though they were overdone. I ordered the Fried Rice as my entree. It was standard fried rice, nothing special. Presentation was nice. It came with shrimp laid across the top of the rice but they were bland and lukewarm. I would not order this again. There are many great restaurants at the Universal resorts but unfortunately this was not one of them.
New Year’s Eve dinner occasion . Quiet and very expensive. Food good but atmosphere was poor and little by way of celebration. Will not repeat.
Service was not good, forgot a kids’ meal. Especially considering the dining room was half-full. That said, our server was very nice about it and comped the entree
Had a reservation, but waited 10 min to be seated in a very empty dining room. It took 45 min to get our food. Waiter was very apologetic for this. My entree had hair crusted into the tofu. My children all ordered sides of steamed broccoli, and it came out almost raw. Our waiter asked about our meal, so I shared feedback and the meal was comp’d except for my drink.
I normally would have given this location 5 stars as we've always had amazing service and experience. Christmas night was a character dinner and that was not disclosed prior to us sitting down. They were busy but not swamped and after 15 minutes we had to find our server. When I made the reservation I was also not told it was buffet only and speciality buffet at that. That being said hopefully it was just a one time thing and we can return on our next trip to enjoy dinner or brunch as we have in the past. Happy Holidays!
