The food was amazing! From the apps to the salads to the entrees, all tasted great. The restaurant also has one of the best views of downtown and Coronado.
Often when you go to a high-end restaurant the food is pricy but not great tasting and the portions are small. Here, it tasted great and the portions were not large but were reasonable.
Best Caesar salad in San Diego! A little pricey, but overall a great choice with a wide variety.
Food was fantastic! My girlfriend and I cam here for our anniversary. The Salmon Creek Farms Double pork Chop was the BEST pork chop I have ever had in my life!!! Literally!!! The flavor and seasoning were out of this world. My girlfriend got the Aspen Ridge Flat Iron Steak. She said it was one of the best steaks she has ever had. I even had a few bites and it was really really good.
Brady was our server and he was fantastic. Definitely will come back again!!!
We had a fantastic meal at Island Prime. Josh was our waiter and provided excellent service as well as offered fantastic recommendations. The wait staff that assisted him were on top of things. We had the ahi tuna stack and it was superb. My husband and I split the strip steak (Oscar style on top) and each had a lobster tail with it. We also had a side of mashed potatoes with scallions, bacon and cheese. We both gave the meal and service an A+ or 10 our of 10. Matt the manager this evening had a strong presence and worked the entire restaurant to ensure that everything flowed. He did stop by our table and check on us-food, services or any needs. When leaving he again took the time to see us off and receive any input. We let him know that everything was fantastic. Thank you Island Prime for making our 4 day visit in San Diego an unforgettable dining experience.
I ordered the Special that day which I underdstood to be ribeye steak. I ordered it medium. It arrived medium-rare to rare. I did mention it but did decline to have it cooked again since that is usually never satisfactory. I NEVER heard that LOBSTER came with it. I realized it when they brought melted butter. What I did NOT realize that the charge for this was $75!!!
I suppose I should have asked but figured a ribeye might run around $40. So yes, my bad. But lesson learned. We love the setting and ambiance but not for an unsatisfying dinner at nearly $200 incl. tip for both of us.
Every part of the dining experience at Island Prime was amazing. The food was all cooked perfectly, the service was outstanding, and the whole environment provided an intimate and romantic atmosphere for our honeymoon date night. It was well worth every penny and has now become one of our "must visits" every time we come back to San Diego!
