Ise-Shima at the Miyako Ratings and Reviews
This was the second time in a week that I went to this restaurant to have the Deluxe Chirashizushi. I brought my mother, two brothers and their wives to celebrate my visit to their area. I had come a week earlier with a friend to enjoy some sushi. I can’t get the quality of sushi this restaurant has in NC where I live so I found the deluxe chirashizushi to be absolutely fantastic. Immaculate and beautifully presented, the fish is absolutely pristine fresh. Trouble is, I may never order anything else! Highly recommended.
I had to delay my reservations two times and they were great to accommodate me. When we arrived we had a great booth ready, the Manager and Assistant Manager came by to greet us. It was my wife's birthday and the Sushi Chef made a special dish for her. Overall excellent evening although a little expensive.
Terrible service! Dry sushi. Poor quality food. We were left with a stack of dirty dishes with no one to clear the area, and we were sitting AT the sushi bar! Server nowhere to be found until I pulled my wallet out. Suddenly , the server was there to provide us the bill. We will NOT be back. Look elsewhere.
This was Father's Day and most parties had a reservation. Food came out painfully slowly. The main dishes were lukewarm at best and came out covered like hospital food. It was so bad that we could hear another diner ask if the kitchen staff was on strike! Many tables were waiting on food with some people done with their meal when other people's had just arrived. Gyoza was burnt. We ate them because we were starving.
Not going back.
Went for dinner on father's day. Restaurant was busy but very understaffed food was OK but service was very slow. We were given the check without being offered the dessert menu then the server didn't pickup our credit card! I had a free edamame appetizer offer that never came I ended up taking it home.
An excellent Japanese restaurant. The cuisine is always very good. We have had multiple items on the menu and are always impressed. Fish dishes are especially good. Sushi and appetizers are great as well. Staff always able to recommend a new item which is fun to try as well.
There was a special $55 buffet menu for Mother's Day. I was disappointed that nothing else was available but the buffet was very good, especially the outstanding sashimi and sushi choices. I was also pleased with the complimentary champagne. I just wish there was notification on Open Table that only the buffet was available that day. I did not check Ise-Shima's website.
The miso and salad bar was wonderful and the food was delicious. We sat by a window and the sunny table was very pleasant but slightly noisy. For a quieter experience i would like to try the booths. The appearance of the restaurant was impressive. our guests were surprised when they walked in the entrance at the upscale feel but unpretentious service.
My husband and I enjoyed our Valentine's dinner at Ise-Shima. We did not opt for the elaborate Valentine meal but the food was very good as was the service. My black cod was fine though not anything comparable to Nobu's. The restaurant was only half full as Japanese people don't really celebrate American holidays. (My son gave us this tip.) It's an upscale, somewhat pricey restaurant but very casual so you don't have to dress up much. Good neighborhood choice.
The staff couldn't have been nicer. So friendly and accommodating. There were many different things to chose from on the menu. I had the chirashi and it was excellent. The sushi rice came in a separate bowl with chirashi condiments on top. This came with a plate of chef's choice sashimi on a separate plate. The sashimi was so fresh. My friends got appetizers that weren't as special as my meal. Would definitely return;
The best thing about my dining experience was the service. All of the staff was attentive and courteous.
The happy hour menu was okay. The portions were pretty small, but considering it's a hotel restaurant, the prices were acceptable.
We ordered a deluxe chirashi bowl and a deluxe nigiri set. The presentation was great, but the quality and taste of the fish was sub-par.
Overall, we enjoyed ourselves, but probably would not return.
Great authentic Japanese restaurant ! Very nice decor serving many different traditional Japanese food including various appetizer dishes. Great for any special occasion and for any important business meals. Took a visitor from Japan, and she was very pleased with Ise-Shima. Help yourself soup and salad bar is unique for a Japanese restaurant but is very good.
Arranged a late dinner for out of town relatives who drove in and were staying at the Miyako Hybrid Hotel. The food was great, ordered sushi and chicken appetizers, dinners included lobster and scallops, fillet mignon, sushi, tempura udon. Everything was beautifully prepared and delicious.
I have been here for lunch and it's been good. Thought I would impress the wife by taking her there for a New Year Eve dinner. This is the first time I've been here for dinner. We were seated promptly, but nobody came to our table for a long time. They were seating others by us, but a few couples did not want to sit in the small tables that are along a bench with the tables so close together. They finally took our order, took awhile just to get a water and tea. Took even longer to get our food. At least you could come over and tell us the problem, but nothing from nobody. Good finally came out but my food was cold. For the price they are asking for the food and the service levels they provide, I won't be going back. Was really disappointed.
In Southbay (that's including Sen Nari in Gardena), there isn't a really good Sushi Restaurant that is comparable to a place like Sushi Gen in Little Tokyo. It would so good if a place like this can raise the quality of sushi so one does not have to drive all they way to little Tokyo.
