Isa’s French Bistro serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and after dinner cocktails and desserts. Isa's is located in the heart of downtown Asheville at One Battery Park Avenue. Our 90 seat dining room is complimented by a wine cellar event space that can accommodate from 10-120 guests. Isa’s also boasts a lively sidewalk patio on one of Asheville’s most interesting intersections.
Fresh, local, seasonal menu curated by Executive Chef Peter Crockett.
Isa’s combination of great food, service and wine in a comfortable, laid back environment make it a culinary destination for both locals and visitors.
The food was amazing and the entire restaurant just reminds you of a French bistro. Fantastic!
We went on Friday. I can’t recommend enough the prime rib. Simply excellent
This is as far from a French Bistro as Ashville is from Paris. The service was great but the food disappointing and the noise level (in part thanks to non-French music) way too high.
Great location. We found street parking so didn't use the free valet service. We made reservations and noted many folks who hadn't made reservations were being turned away at the door even though there were many empty tables. My guess is the restaurant is short staffed due to Covid and the NC governor's extension of unemployment payments until September.
Our server was attentive when we arrived, but less so after our order was taken. Our meal spent 8 minutes under the heat lamp before she picked it up - she wasn't busy, rather chatting with front reception folks. We had duck confit and chicken cordon Bleu. Duck was overcooked, dry and the cordon Bleu was also not as tender and juicy as it should have been. The house wine was pricey @ $12 glass. Bill was $100 out the door. We've had much better dinners for half the price. Not going back.
Excellent food, environment was a bit chaotic.
Open setting and busy with good service and excellent food preparation.
Nice menu. It was hard to decide. Our waiter Alex helped us choose a wonderful meal and wine.
The food and wine was absolutely divine. We visited on a Wednesday evening and were able to enjoy live music which was perfect. Our server was stellar. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner and wonderful atmosphere. Will definitely dine again along return trips to town.
The unique menu offerings we tried were all great!
Food and wine were great as usual
Staff was very helpful and friendly. Food was very good. It was the second timeI have come to this restaurant and was very satisfied on both occasions
Wonderful as was the setting. Usually I’m not a French dining person but this was outstanding!,
Weather was close to perfect for outdoor dining
Overall disappointed. After we were seated and received our menus, we didn't see our waiter for more than 10 minutes. Then, our wine was delivered in Manhattan glasses while every other table outside had wine glasses. It took over an hour to get bread and then there were issues with both meals. My husband's duck was dry and flavorless; he had to ask for salt to make it palatable. My lamb was tender but overcooked, the potatoes were under cooked, and the mushrooms were so black I wouldn't eat them. The saving grace of the meal was the bone marrow appetizer. It was flavorful and allowed us to try something new. I'm not impressed especially after eating in DC.
We sat outside, which is right by the street, which we loved. The food was delicious. Of course, with it being a French restaurant, the French onion soup was a must. And I also ordered the Isa salad and the sunchoke latkes. I've never seen these on a menu anywhere, but they were wonderful - crispy fried with a lovely dipping sauce. I enjoyed everything and will certainly go back.
we found this place to be a pleasure, the food and service was very good.
The prime rib was not good. It was tough and lacking in flavor
Great scallops! Wait staff made a special drink for me too. Beautiful sidewalk eating!
Been to Isa's twice in about 3 weeks and food was excellent again.
Had the croissant Madame, very good and overstuffed. My wife had a very nice salad but she said the added chicken was a bit dry and overdone. Son had steak frites which he enjoyed & even took home 1/2 as it was so big.
Knowledgeable and friendly and helpful waiter. Delicious and interesting menu.
Restaurant was absolutely delicious! Will definitely be back!
Scallops Spaetzle special: Spaetzle (egg & flour thingy) mostly flour, basically tasted like pancake batter cooked in pieces, LOL. Scallops themselves smelled fishy and after one I left the rest. (On the "edge" of not fresh, so worrisome, also weird dark grey color). French fries friend had were "limp". Usually we like our meals here! So was kind of a bummer. May wait awhile before going again.
Very nice and clean restaurant. Some options with plant based beyond meat which I really liked. I think I would like to see more fish options. I had the sunchoke latkes and they were super good. Also Ratoutille was very good.
Average French food with the world’s worst service. When we were seated, a hostess through our rolls of silverware and menus on the table without putting them in the proper place setting. Despite having a reservation made over one month in advance, we waited for 30 minutes before receiving anything on our table other than water. when our food finally did arrive, the manager served our salad along with our appetizer and did not even apologize that it was brought out in the wrong order. we also failed to receive any appetizer plates. when the main entrées arrived, they failed to bring a steak knife for my husband’s lamb chops. The glasses of wine we ordered with our entrée did not arrive until we were halfway finished with her entrées. We were not even offered a dessert menu. As we were paying her bill, they finally brought out the dinner rolls to the tables next to us. However, we were never offered any and did not receive any. When the waiter finally brought a dessert menus, we decided we had enough paid our bill and left for crave, the best dessert bar in Asheville. Experience would’ve been fine had the price has been adjusted accordingly. However, this is certainly not worth the amount of money that you pay for the food. They are tons of other fantastic restaurants in Asheville that you should try over this one.
Very good food. Wait staff and front desk seemed to be a bit disinterested/ imposed-on to seat tables.
There were four in our party. All of our meals were fantastic. We had Parmesan frites, lamb chops, scallops with cheesy grits and two people had the special seafood crapes. The person that had the scallops and grits said he didn’t like grits until he had those. He loved it so much that he wanted to lick the bowl.
A perfect dining experience in our new favorite restaurant.
The food was not really French style – way too greasy and way too many fried items – fried Cordon Bleu? The salmon dish was delicious but the potatoes were under done. Overall, dinner was a big disappointment. I may try it for brunch before I give up completely, however.
Good service. Food had too much sauce. Gave husband heartburn
Our waiter, Alex, was the perfect balance between attentive and chill. Great night. Good food!
Food was terrible, and hardly french.
Wonderful food and great atmosphere. If you are able to sit outside it is beautiful and relaxing.
We waited 30 minutes for our appetizer. It was dark and lacking ambience. Following our visit there I received an email from OpenTable stating that the restaurant told them I no-showed for our table! I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. It appeared wonderful online, but was sadly nothing like they advertise.
Was really anticipating an outstanding dinner be instead ended up very disappointed. It was over an hour before we received the entrees. The lamb was over cooked and the scallops were rubbery. Each portion was tiny (two small racks of lamb and 3 scallops) considering the price paid. We loved the atmosphere and the waitress did the best she could. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this restaurant given the other excellent options in the same area.
Food and service was very good Lamb chops were outstanding. Cheese was amazing value.
Thank you very much for your review!
Our server was excellent. The charcuterie was excellent. The steak tartar was quite good. The chicken Corden bleu was good and the duck l'orange was dry. I think this is a covid situation. Loved the server.
Service was great. Food was amazing. Definitely would recommend eating here if you're in Asheville and looking for a delicious meal and a great experience.
Thank you very much for your review. We look forward to hosting you again soon!
Dinner at Isa's Bistro exceeded our expectations. We had a corner table outside. The weather was perfect. Our server was great and each of our dinners was just delicious. This from a group who eats out a lot. All of us could not stop talking about how pretty each dish looked and how wonderful everything tasted. Will definitely be going back soon.
Thank you for your wonderful review. We can't wait to welcome you back soon!
