Our server was Josh, and he was not attentive nor very friendly. Did the bare minimum. But the food was awesome and the restaurant itself was wonderful. We will go back, we just would prefer another server.
Our waiter was training a newbie and didn't set much of a standard. Upon motioning to the waiter he stopped and attended to another table before coming to our table. Never once refilled water glasses. We were 80% finished with our entree when he finally came to see if our meal had come out correctly and if everything was OK. Next time in Asheville we'll definitely skip Isa's.
food was bland
had to ask server for glass for beer, napkinis, silverware not the best service
entre took a while to cook so long they gave us a round if drinks free and then the taste was bland not only our entres but all if our party.
Something changed. Outdoor patio is still great. Menu is very limited and the things we ordered were just okay, used to be great. We will give it a few months and try again
Great drinks. I like having food service at the bar. Steak and frites were excellent. Like the new menu.
Very nice ambiance, food, service. Only 1 con: A glass of wine: $10 (yikes!) Due to the high drink prices, none of us ordered wine or drinks. We drank water instead. Our favorite pros: 1) quiet/peaceful inside the restaurant. (It's SO tough to find a quiet restaurant in Asheville. We prefer quiet conversations during meals [rather than having to shout in noisy restaurants].) 2) The free valet parking is outstanding!
Great brunch and great service! Will def be back!
I had not been to Isa's in a while because there are so many good choices in Asheville. The food and ambience and service were definitely more on point at this latest visit. I will make it a point to visit again soon.
Two women eating together - always, always seated in the back. I even made a comment to the receptionist but she didn't budge.
A little noisy for relaxed conversation, but service was good and the waiter very friendly. Charcuterie Board appetizer was tasty. Three in our party had salmon and were pleased. One had trigger fish and was also satisfied. Can’t recall the fifth. Wines are a bit pricier than warranted based on their quality. Overall, good experience.
Brussel sprouts-Devine, cavatelli- Inspired, foie gras gravy- sinful, wine list superb. I wish our server would have engaged with the table and reviewed the menu highlights, she seemed cold and aloof. Otherwise, the food was phenomenal. We will be back!
The small plates were tasty and delicious, but the steak frites was ordered at medium rare but came out mostly well done. It was also difficult to cut with the table knife since a steak knife was never brought out. The scallops entree had very good flavor, but only had three small scallops.
Our server was polite and friendly, but never made another appearance at our table between the delivery of our appetizers and the finishing of our entrees.
The tables outside on the patio are wonderful to people watch and catch music from nearby buskers.
Had a lovely pre-theater meal of Scallops au Poivre (daily special) and after a very helpful conversation with our waitress, my companion had a salad with Salmon and both were delicious. With only 3 average sized scallops the special was a little pricey at $25 but certainly very tasty. The Fennel slaw was unusual but I enjoyed it however it was a large serving for such a strong pickled flavor. Overall, we enjoyed the food and will certainly try Isa's again.
This is a great location for people watching. Since it is connected to a hotel that is pretty dated, it spills over to the restaurant. (You have to go to the bathroom by getting the door unlocked from the front desk) Kind of creepy. Food is good, but not great. Come for the quiet and the location in the heart of Asheville.
Mediocre. Food was greasy and although the restaurant wasn’t full it took about 1 hour before our food came. Poor showing. With all the different choices of food in Asheville, no need to eat here.
Our main issue was that Opentable allowed us to make an 11am reservation for breakfast/brunch, but they called us that morning and said they close at 11 and reopen at 11:30 for lunch. Luckily we were around the corner and hurried over at 10:30 to have breakfast. If they can't serve at 11am, then that time shouldn't be available to book. The food was outstanding. Best omelette I have ever had. The service was very slow and they were not busy - but everyone was very friendly. Would definitely go back!
Delightful Sunday morning breakfast on the patio. Great service & great meal.
Excellent menu and well-prepared cuisine. Attention to every little detail. Highly recommend!
Isa's Bistro is a nice place, but I found the "French" part to be a bit stretched. There weren't that many items on the menu that I identify with French cuisine. But, the food was still very good. I will go back.
Second rate all around, especially disappointing given how many great restaurants there are in Asheville.
Delicious sprouts and meat and cheese tray. Entrees very good. Waiter got one entree wrong and comped us a dessert. All was great!!!
They were out of a lot of the dinner entrees and bud light. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere. We had vouchers for breakfast from our hotel and it was just as disappointing. Waited a while for someone to notice we were standing there to be seated. Waiter walked around for 10 minutes with our order in his pocket while he cleaned the patio. After finally getting our food we had to hunt someone down for syrup and ketchup.
This second visit was a bit disappointing. It was an early Sunday evening as opposed to a Saturday night. Service was slow even though the restaurant was almost empty and the changes to the menu left fewer choices than earlier in the year. We just had entrees and they were all good. Our vegan guest was very happy with her Vegan sausage entree so that made up for the lack luster other options
All four of us really enjoyed our meals. Our waiter, Craig, was excellent. Very knowledgeable about the food and wines.
Not rushed, but not forgotten.
It was an amazing experience. The food tastes were delicious. I had the scallops which were tender and great against the pasta and craisins.
We went there for brunch because we wanted to hear a gypsy jazz band which was playing that Sunday. The band was fun, the food (pancake plate) was delicious, service quick and friendly, and the prices very reasonable. Several large groups were more interested in talking loudly than listening, but we we seated at a table far enough away from the groups but close enough to hear the music.
We sat at an outside table, and inside there were very few diners. The maitre d' got us menus. We then waited 15 minutes while the two outside servers went past us three times each, without checking in with us, taking drink orders, bringing silverware or even telling us they would be with us soon. So we left. Our review of the food is likely not accurate, but in order to leave a review, some rating is necessary.
Excellent food. Excellent service (Craig), excellent ambiance. Highly recommend.
Everything was very nice. Menu was a bit limited, but the chef cheerfully altered a recipe to suit my dietary needs.
We had met a friend and her husband whom we hadn't seen in years. We had wonderful food and service and were not rushed at all!!
Delicious chicken pate, caesar salad with fish roe, and planked salmon.
Isa's Bistro is fantastic. The food was outstanding and our server, Craig, was one of the best servers we've ever had. He was knowledgeable, personable, and very helpful with food descriptions. We will definitely be back!
We had a table of 6 and the noise level was so loud that couldn't carry on a conversation. Very disappointing. Food was good but the noise level ruined our mothers day lunch.
We eat here for a quality breakfast in a nice setting at a fair price, especially considering the remarkable price inflation currently across Asheville.
Amazing service and absolutely delicious meal!
The chef was heavy-handed with salt. Though I love salmon, I couldn't finish it. The only chicken option was with a creamy sauce. When my husband received his, he struggled to cut into the chicken and wound up returning it and just having his salad for his dinner. At one time I had a wonderful salad as my main course, but it is no longer on the menu. Overall, as you can see, we were quite disappointed.
The brunch menu was amazing, great price and the food was spectacular. We also enjoyed the mimosa flights (lavender lemonade was by far the best). Great service and ambiance.
Every course of our meal was Devine and there was a wonderful wine selection (the pessimist) bottle of Syrah was fantastic. The Brussels sprouts on the appetizer menu were by far the best I’ve ever had! Excellent service as well.
Every time we go there the service, food and drinks are excellent. It’s quiet and a great location.
