Isabella's Italian Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
We had reservations. I loved the way the hostess greeted my husband and I. She walked us to the back near the fireplace. It was perfect and romantic for our 6th anniversary. Food was great, our waitress was pretty good. Pricing was just right if you know you deserve the best. The waitress was so kind and friendly. She didn't bother us. She came by us to ask how we were and if we needed anything. We ordered the pan seared scallops and the Angus tenderloin. Sparkling pomegranate and the famous Tiramisu. Love this place.
This was my first time here. I found it on line and wanted to take my daughter to an Italian restaurant for her birthday. The service was great and the food was very good. I also requested a candle in my daughters dessert and I didn't have to remind them. My daughter said the pecan pie was the best she has had out. We will definitely return to isabellas
My husband and I have been coming to Isabella's for years and it has always been a very nice experience. So I was rather disappointed when bringing a longtime friend from out of town there on Tues. night. I made reservations well in advance yet was seated in the bar. Never have we been seated in the bar. It was loud, the chairs are like outdoor chairs. The service was spotty. When our entrees were being delivered the entire table was still covered with our appetizer and soup dishes. I had to ask for it to be cleared. I can see being seated in the bar if we had no reservation..if we requested it. They didn't even put my guests leftovers in a bag they just handed her the foil bowl. The food is always very good and usually our service is great. Guess I need to request NOT being in the bar from now on. *sigh*
We have been to Isabella's a few times and have always had a delightful experience. It is our go-to place to bring our visiting friends. The food is delectable, the wait staff is efficient and friendly and the ambiance exceptional. We will continue coming back.
It was an enjoyable evening! It wasn't busy so it was very quiet, and we had a table in a room all to ourselves. Service was excellent and the food was well-prepared and generally quite tasty. It was a little higher-priced than our typical dining experience but since we were enjoying our last night together as a family before my daughter's return to California, it was a worthwhile evening. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a restaurant a step up from a chain Italian restaurant for a special occasion.
I love this family owned and operated restaurant. I have never had a bad or even mediocre meal at Isabellas’s; I have been an infrequent - 3-4 times a year-patron for 17 years. Although it is technically an Italian restaurant, everything especially the fish and seafood is excellent. The wine list is extensive and what they are well known for, but they also now list an IPA selection as well. My daughter and her British boyfriend stated their pasta dishes were delicious. My husband, a picky eater cleaned his cod plate, and my pan seared scallops were perfectly cooked and wonderful. The service is attentive without being obtrusive and always served with good cheer. The only slightly negative was a noisy party in the booth behind us, but overall the owners have done an admirable job at dissipating noise. My husband is a little hard of hearing but did not complain or even comment on the degree of background noise. Recommended without hesitation!
I took my lady out for a date night, and it was exceptionally excellent. The two of us got an appetizer, meals, drinks, and desserts and the bill was about $100, as I anticipated. My only complaint is that our appetizer was pretty small - we ordered the stuffed mushroom for $8, and it was a lot smaller than we both expected (not to mention they only give you one mushroom for the appetizer). However, I will say it was one of the best stuffed mushrooms I’ve had. My girlfriend and I each got a special of the week and neither of us were disappointed! Lastly, our service was amazing. Our waiter was very polite and respectful, was always there when we needed him and kept his distance when we didn’t. It felt very respectful, and I’ve never seen service like that anywhere else!
Food very good.
Had requested a round table as there were six of us.....didn’t get it. Makes all the difference....we were not able to hear each other. We had come from different parts of the east coast and out of country for this meal get together.
Service otherwise was very good. We were placed in a very noisy area.
This was my first visit and it won”t be my last. Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive staff. Excellent food. We were there for lunch so it was a limited menu but choices were adequate for a nice business lunch. I had the Tomato basil pasta with a dried fig salad. My guest had a root soup and the dried fig salad. It was nice to be able to enjoy a quiet conversation in a very nice atmosphere.
Everything we ordered was excellent! We are from out of town and have come back several times over the years. They have delivered a consistent, high-level experience each time. We will come back again. Delicious, creative offerings and locally sourced beers.
We were staying in Lynchburg for our 15th anniversary, and Isabella's came recommended by family and the internet. We decided to make it our "big" dinner of the weekend, and we're so glad we did. Every staff member that interacted with us was aware of our special occasion, and they treated us wonderfully. The food was outstanding. My wife asked about an item that was on the internet menu, but not on the menu in-house, and they made it for her anyhow. She loved it (Shrimp Aglio). I had their Homemade Sausage Pasta, which is basically a traditional penne vodka, only with house-made sausage (made from local pork), and baked with cheese. It was stupendous. We also tried the fried risotto balls to start, and for dessert, we had the house-made pecan pie (my wife said it was out of this world) and the tiramisu (not house-made, but still delicious).
We're hoping to make this trip to Lynchburg a yearly occasion from here on out, and if we do, Isabella's will be on our itinerary every time.
