Excellent brunch, as always. Love those Napoleon Mimosas!
Once you get out of certain areas in the northeast like the Ironbound section of Newark NJ where there are many Spanish/Portuguese restaurants, it’s mice to find a gem like Isabella’s that can deliver that type of cuisine!
Tapas is always fun. The flavors were varied and interesting. We enjoyed ourselves and would go back.
The 3 of us had my favorite tapas on Isabella's menu: fried asparagus, dates in bacon, short ribs & goat cheese, hot sausage, and deep fried calamari, all of which were tasty enough that even my finicky teen enjoyed every bite. We also had a perfectly flavored lobster bisque soup (although it was scant on actual lobster), and shared a very nice entree-size seafood paella with scallops and shrimp and calamari on loads of saffron rice. I usually steer away from restaurant paella since it often seems to be overcooked and watery elsewhere, but Isabel's paella doesn't dissapoint. We shared lemon creme bruelee and flourless deep chocolate cake for dessert. Our waiter Joe was attentive, and the food came out a few plates at a time (as it should) with the help of many other hands. Food was fresh & flavorful and hot. We like the casual atmosphere, sharing real food, and enjoying refreshing drinks at Isabellas. We're big eaters, so you may not need as much food -- but even with cocktails and those desserts the bill was under two hundred. Really was a wonderful meal.
Paella with sangria - can't go wrong!
The service was outstanding !
We enjoyed four different appetizers , all very good.
The short rib sliders were outrageously good !
We were celebrating Mother’s Day. I had asked in advance for a booth or table near a window, instead we were seated in a small, dark room. The waitress took awhile to take our order and brought the appetizer with the main meal.
Our server, Joseph, was just delightful! 3 generations of our family agree, the experience was worthy of a "Mothers Day" salute.
Server Joey was humorous and attentive.
We love the food here and understand that it is tapas, but I really wish the portions were bigger and matched the price being charged.
We very much enjoyed the small plates and were so happy they offered so many gluten-free options. We had a delightful time celebrating my son's graduation!
This is one of my favorite restaurants in frederick to take out of town visitors to. Love the variety, everyone always seems to find something to enjoy.
I heard about Isabella for years but this is our first visit. We were a party of five for Mother's Day dinner. Our host accommodated us at a round bay table overseeing the vibrant Frederick downtown main street. It was a quiet spot to talk but seeing plenty of actions. Our waiter (Kevin) is friendly and knowledgeable on the menu items. We followed his recommendations and were very glad about it. The food service was quick and everything was delicious to the taste and the eyes. We walked around downtown after dinner and had a lovely evening.
The whole experience was wonderful. Will go again.
This is one of my favorite restaurants - got their early enough 5:15 but was stuffed into a small table in the back room. Food was great, can’t wait to go back.
We made reservations for dinner after reading such great reviews. Once there we realized that it wasn’t the ambiance we were looking for, so just ordered a starter and cocktail. The Rockfish ceviche was very good, Negronis okay. We were seated in a booth right across from the bar and it was very loud- overall more of a tavern ambiance. The food looks good and the service was good, just be forewarned if you’re looking for a more relaxing evening.
Tried several tapas. All excellent. Great death by chocolate martini!
I became enamored of Valencian paella while in Spain and theirs is very good.
Isabella's is definitely my restaurant of choice for any special occasions or when wanting to impress out-of-town guests with dining at a unique local restaurant. The Tres Leches is a must for desert. Isabella's also has a terrific Brunch on the weekends.
We were a party of six and late for our reservation; the host held our table and when we arrived was extremely gracious. I was extremely grateful for this as we were dining with my 80 year old father and his grandchildren whom he doesn't have the opportunity to see very often. Our server was excellent as well.
Killer Gazpacho Bloody Marys! A great start. It's clear that the staff are a happy bunch, very attentive, and accommodating (my spouse is in a wheelchair). The menus, on the other hand, are a bit overwhelming. It's not clear what's tapas and what's not.
But, the food is good and varied. Our duck w/risotto dish was a bit salty, but quite flavorful. The paella, on the other hand, was bland and skimpy (to boot, it was $32). But, the waiter did bring out a dish with artichoke hearts stuffed with crab (on the house) that was great. So, all in all, it's a good place to return to.
Great food, ordered the calamari twice. The place to go for a nice non rushed dinner. I had heard good things about Isabella's from my foodie friends, now I know why.
Good. Loud though
Great Tapas restaurant. Incredible menu.
Wonderful food & drinks in a relaxing atmosphere. Great place to linger with friends.
Went for brunch on Sunday and everything was great including the variety or brunch foods. Looking forward to going back to try the Tapas.
Isabella’s is a top ten restaurant for my wife and I...we drive 30 miles to eat there. Why? The food has been exceptional for the last 15 years!
We have our usual Tapa choices, asparagus fries that are incredible, bacon wrapped dates, baked Brie, a terrific gazpacho, and so much more.
Tonight our waiter, Sam, added so much to our dining experience. Ask for him, you will be glad you did!
Thanks, Isabella’s, for another great dining experience.
All the food is great but really miss the old calamari. It is what we looked forward to ordering. The new recipe is nothing special.
The service and food were both excellent. Everything we ordered was delicious and we'll definitely be back next time we are in Frederick.
Food and service was excellent. Really enjoyed the tapas style of dining si we could try many options.
We have been to Isabella's numerous times and have never left disappointed! The food always comes out quickly and the service is always good! We definitely will be back and we don't hesitate to recommend the spot to our friends when they are looking for something a little different!
Ana was by far the best hostess. Thank you, Ana. And That Lobster and
Chicken paella I'm going to do again just to see if it really was that GOOD. One of the best I have ever eaten. See my posting on Facebook.
This is by far the best tapas restaurant I've ever been to. Great food, wonderful staff, and a friendly atmosphere made this the perfect place to propose to my fiancée. I asked one of the waitresses to bring out the ring along with the check for dinner. Alex, bless her, did one better and brought it out with dessert. She placed my fiancée's actual dessert on the table, then said she made a mistake, moving aside the dessert to place a plate with the box that held the ring. It was perfectly executed and I couldn't have asked for a better waitress. We were treated to a round of applause from the other patrons and excellent complimentary champagne (that we are going to have at the wedding) from the Isabella's staff. Thank you for making this such a wonderful night. We are definitely coming back.
Booked this restaurant thinking it was part of Mike Isabella's restaurant group (Top Chef finalist). It wasn't but it was great anyway! Spanish entrees like bacon-wrapped scallops were delicious! Lots of wonderful tapas/small plates to choose from. Our server, Sedat, was wonderful. The desserts were delicious! There are alot of nice restaurants in Frederick but I'd return then next time in that town.
The food was very good. I felt rushed by the waiter. The restaurant was busy so maybe they wanted us to hurry up and eat and get out. Waiter never offered dessert or coffee. I’ll go back because the food is great but hopefully won’t have such a pushy waiter.
Went there for our 29th anniversary. Wonderful food and great service.
Most of the dishes we ordered were excelkent. The only exception was the black-footed pig. It didnt taste anyrhing like what we have had both at Isabellas and other places. Tasted lime plain old pork. Very disappointing. Everything else was very good though.
The waiter was great, very attentive and kept the water glass filled, I got my wine right away and got my gazpacho and asparagus fries very soon. He was ready with the bill as soon as he knew I was ready.
Another fabulous experience at Isabellas. Great service and our favorite place to eat!
My parents and I went for brunch on Easter. The food, as always, was delicious! I ordered the empanada with chorizo and crab, and loved it! The crust was flaky, the chorizo was very flavorful and mixed really well with the crab. Dad ordered from the Easter brunch menu and got the short ribs eggs benedict--very, very tasty. Mom ordered the huevos rancheros and loved them, and we ordered the stuffed French toast from the Easter menu for the table. Without a doubt, that was the best dish we had--the stuffing was a lemon cream cheese, and it was topped with berries that made a delicious contrast.
The staff was extremely attentive and friendly, and while we were seated at the back of the dining room near the fireplace, it wasn't claustrophobic.
12/10 will go again for any reason!
