Being a law student, I don't often like to spend a crazy amount on dinner, but as I have a special lady in my life, I like to treat her. This restaurant came as a recommendation with the caveat of it being "worth the price." While unsure how reliable the recommendation could be, I reserved a table for 6:00pm that night. We walked in and were greeted by a friendly hostess and were immediately seated at a table for two. However, I would recommend calling and reserving a private booth if you can. Our table was just fine, but the booths are a bit more secluded and romantic. We ordered the spoon bread appetizer while I waited for my salmon and she waited for her stuffed guinea. Although I'm lactose intolerant and the cheesy spoon bread came back with a vengeance in the morning, it was delicious. I'm from the south and it did not disappoint my cornbread expectations. When our plates arrived, we were a little disappointed with how small the portions seemed, but we both became full about halfway through our plates. We made sure to finish our meals, though, because they were incredible. We moved out here this summer and that was hands down the best meal either of us have had. While the price for the appetizer, two entrees, two ciders, and two beers, plus a gracious tip came out to be $110, I would happily pay that price again. I now know where to take my parents when they visit for Christmas.

Our family went there specifically for their Impossible Burger patty melt. My daughter is a vegan and it was awesome to have a delicious vegan option. The burger was delicious and the service was wonderful. We would definitely go there again!

Everything was really great; the menu was limited but with incredible options, the service was warm and helpful, and the ambiance was lovely! Very Nu-Portland Hip. My only complaint is that my bacon was pretty burnt/overdone. I didn’t complain but if I had I’m sure they would have happily replaced it. I can’t wait to go back to try their happy hour and dinner menus!

We had a great dinner at Irving Street Kitchen! Food was excellent and service was exceptional. We had scallops, salmon and the hangar steak at our table and all were delicious. The butterscotch pudding was out of this world, and the apple dessert was fantastic! Brought some friends from out of town based on the recommendation of a friend, and we will be back!

Great food, great ambiance, excellent service. We ate at the bar which we like to do and the bartenders were extremely knowledgable about the cuisine as well as the wine selections.
Definitely on our rotation.

We came to to this restaurant to try the Impossible Burger - the vegan burger. This was a wonderful experience for us. As Vegans, this restaurant isn't typically a first choice for Vegans but if they will continue serving the Impossible Burger, we will be back soon. Love the service and atmosphere.

The food was terribly salty. I ordered their fried chicken and collards. What a joke! Trying too hard to be southern food? The cod was definitely freezer burned and the proteins broke down during cooking which made it soggy. $126 dinner....what a waste.

We booked this reservation based upon a recommendation from friends. The food quality was very good and the preparations had a unique twist. Everyone in our party of four enjoyed the food and ambiance. We'll definitely be making a return visit.

An old friend and I were catching up over dinner. We started at some cozy seats by the fireplace in the bar with cider and an appetizer (chicken-fried oysters - crunchy outside, creamy inside) and then moved to an intimate table tucked next to a short bookcase. We had a lovely evening - excellent, caring but not obtrusive service, and memorable food. I had the cod with crawfish cream sauce which was very good but my friend's dish was the winner - jackfruit with delicata squash. They were like sweet, creamy crab cakes! Wonderful combination of flavors. Wish we lived here and could make it a regular occurrence!!!!

This restaurant never disappoints. They have the friendliest wait staff, best chefs and a perfect atmosphere. I usually come in the summer and sit outside when the big doors are open to the street but it was cold and rainy this time. However, my wife and I sat out on the open patio with the overhead heaters on and our little dog at our feet and we had the most wonderful and romantic dinner. The wild mushroom dishes were amazing. In spite of all the great restaurants in Portland this will always be our go to spot.

Overall, I think Irving Street Kitchen is just 'okay'. This was my third visit, and I was a bit reluctant, now I remember why. The food is good - but not spectacular for the price. I feel there are many other options in the local area that a better value with more creative and flavorful food - perhaps somewhere other than PDX, I might give ISK 4 stars. I had their famous fried chicken, which was crispy and juicy, but I didn't feel it was worth $25 - maybe $18. The glasses of wine are also overpriced for the selection in the PDX area. Not likely to return.

Well, just another great meal at ISK. I love the fried chicken so much, I love the pork chop almost as much, but this time I went for the squid ink risotto. So good. Delicate and surprising, dark and delicious. Fortunately my son ordered the fried chicken and I knew he wouldn't be up to eating it all, so I got a taste of that too. Dessert was great. Mmmm butterscotch. Thank you, ISK.

Service was fantastic. Food was good but nothing to write home about. For the price it was pretty bad value. If you don't care about value then this place ain't too bad. Otherwise look elsewhere. Brunch might be better than dinner.

The food never disappoints. The atmosphere is seductive and comfortable. The servers are very well trained, professional and food arrived in timely manner. My glass water was always full and drinks kept coming. The food is basic and simple but fresh and extremely tasty. Chicken was crispy , cod out of this world. Don't forget to order bread and meats for appetizer.
Desserts are very small in portion, but if you are health conscious this is the way go. Have fun.

Visit ISK as often as possible - love the vibe-the food-the staff...addicted to the chicken fried oysters, the Smoked Cheddar & White Corn Spoonbread, Salted Bourbon Butter, the seared foie gras -however it is being prepared, the Black Garlic Butter Steamed Manila Clams & Chicken Liver Mousse Toast, the Black Garlic Butter Steamed Manila Clams & Chicken Liver Mousse Toast, the Charred Spanish Octopus Salad, Chili Poached Pear, Fermented Garlic Aioli and the Chorizo & Squid Ink Risotto, Manila Clams, Salt Spring Mussels, Truffle Oil, Grana. Try to add 1 or 2 new experiences every time. The staff is great - our particular favorite is Patrick...he is an encyclopedia about all things ISK and a delightful and fun person - he optimizes our experience every time.

I'm not impressed with this restaurant.

As a tourist, visiting from San Francisco, I was really excited about trying this place out for my birthday weekend. We ordered the Salmon Benedict and the fried chicken po'boy. Half way through eating my Benedict, I flipped over something that looked charred, only to find out it was a bug. I was disgusted, and so was the waiter when he saw what I pointed out. I'm sure I ate one of those things before I even saw this one. Although he brought it to the back to tell the chef/cook and took that dish off our bill, I still feel at a loss. I mean, I only ate a bug at your establishment.

Overall, we love Irving Streer kitchen for brunch. There is always a great selection of cocktails and sparkling drinks - I really enjoyed the Bellini (tart and not too sweet peach syrup and just enough Prosecco). My husband loves the baked Moroccan eggs and I have been mourning the removal of the Dutch baby. But I have found my dish: waffle board with a side of fried chicken! Waffles, bacon, maple syrup and their famous fried chicken breast. Just be sure to ask for bacon crisp, because they are part of a disturbing trend of half cooked bacon in fancy restaurants. So, I sent back one strip and it took forever to get it back, and I had to remind them about it. Then of course it came back slightly overcooked, but at least better than too fatty.
Also, somewhat unusually, the music was blaring when we arrived. We asked for them to turn it down, but it took several tries before it shifted from dance level to low enough for dining. Hope this is
just a one time thing - it's no fun having to yell over the music (what?!). Yes, we will come back, but we are hoping they have solved these two issues.

The food and service were good, but definitely not amazing. The ingredients were fresh and the food was prepared with high standards, however, the menu was uninspired. I would go again for happy hour (which was great), and possibly for a group dinner because there seemed to be something on the menu for everyone. With all of the great food spots in Portland this one doesn't stand out.

The brunch was OK, however two of us (four) ordered the Classic Egg Breakfast and the scrambled eggs were –in a word – awful. Must have been liquid ir possibly powdered eggs? Repeat, AWFUL. Great coffee, likewise the Buckwheat Pancakes. Fun interior with a clever library and very impressive industrial chandeliers. For so many staff seemingly rushing about, the service was just passable. Handicap access via a one-wheelchair elevator from the street.
