Wonderful experience !
Food was delicious!
We have eaten here for a couple of years and had great experiences. Our most recent visit is probably our last. We were seated and were waiting for friends to join us. Our server, who we have had good experiences with in the past, brought us water and said he would check back when the rest of our party arrived. Our friends arrived within five minutes, and no server came to our table for 35 (that’s thirty-five) minutes. We were eventually able to get the attention of a different server, and then yet another server came and handled our orders. Service was extremely slow and we were there close to three hours total. We had the fried chicken, which is not as good as it used to be. The collards, smashed potatoes, and biscuit were good! The new menu is very limited. We had to ask for plates so as to not have to eat the chicken out of a very small aluminum pan. Weird.
We loved the ambiance and the intriguing menu. Our server wasn’t particularly engaging and I was annoyed by the pacing (everything came at once), but I was glad we ate here and had a great evening.
Our server for brunch, Kyle, was fantastic. Great recommendations and service. Food was delicious. Breakfast cocktails were fantastic as well. Highly recommend
Great service and food :-) Fast becoming our go to for breakfast & brunches!
Was impressed by other reviews so maybe I just ordered the wrong item. Got the trout. Comes with no sides and none were offered. I’ve had goldfish bigger than this trout (ok I’m exaggerating but it was really small).
Everything I put in my face hole was delicious. The chicken incredible, the beef ribs tender and succulent, the chocolate cake divine. I'll be back for more...
I have eaten at Irving St Kitchen 4 times in the past. The first 2 times the food was really good. The third time was alright but was seated at a low table in the corner of the bar facing other people's back sides. I recommended it to a friend visiting from out of town. I ordered the 'smoked trout' and was very disappointed. It tasted like rubber, severely overcooked. I ended up getting stomach cramps and was up all night with digestive issues.
That will be my last time 'dining' at Irving St Kitchen!
Had not been to Irving St Kitchen is months.... their brunch is still great! Their Bloody Mary's never disappoint!
had a wonderful experience, I made a last minute rsvp (10min before through open table) and when we got there they made us feel welcome got us our table right away and gave us a 5 star service. We tipped our server extra because it was an outstanding service. Food is absolutely delicious, fresh and seasonal options are wonderful.
Absolutely delicious as always and the service was excellent! We love this place💕
Really great food, server was great. Such great price range for level of food. Spent more the night before in a vastly inferior joint. Couldn’t recommend it more.
One of our favorite restaurants, we have Irving Street kitchen on 'repeat rotation'. We appreciate the consistently good food, the attentive and personable service, and the welcoming ambiance. We also like it that we can hear one another!
The coconut banana bread was amazing- so flavorful and moist!
This is the first time I haven't given Irving St. Kitchen a great review. I'm not sure if it was our server or some new way they do things. I ordered a wedge salad and asked them if they could chop it. (I've never had someone tell me they can't do that) The waiter said, "If they have time.." They were about 50% full so I figured, great, they'll have time. He brought us a knife and our salads. Had this been the only thing, I wouldn't have written a review. Our waiter encouraged us to order our meal family-style, with our friends. We did and then I asked for an extra plate to put the food on. He acted like that was an odd request and then said I'll see what the kitchen will give me. WHAT??? The food is really good but this experience wasn't.
Incredible excellent bar food. The ribs were gigantic!!! Cool and inviting vibrant plage. Hot Spot in Portland.
Since our last visit the menu has shrunk. Not really enough choices for our group. But what was there was very good. Service was great and we love the space.
Overall it was a good experience. I did not look at the menu before going. My husband and I eat cleaner than the menu. That said, I ordered the fried chicken and my husband the duck and both were very good. The salad was too sweet for us and the granola a weird choice! The butterscotch pudding highlight of meal. I wouldn’t go back but I appreciated it!
Beautiful room, great food, excellent service. Brunch prices are very reasonable.
We have always love ISK, but this visit was definitely not the type of experience we typically have. The food was okay, but the overall service was terrible. Our waitress was not engaging or friendly, and we had to ask for plates and silverware multiple times as our dinner was served and we had no way to eat it. The service was incredibly slow considering there seemed to be plenty of staff and how few people were in the restaurant.
1person loved Moraccan eggs, another did not. Coffee great. Fried chicken great. Noise level of music too loud.
Service was spotty. Trout & quinoa was tasteless.
If you stick wit biscuits, eggs & bacon it is good.
Service was excellent from host to server. Food came out at vastly different times. There were four of us and the First two items came out 5+ minutes before the third and the fourth was delivered to another table so it had to be remade and brought out last. The server sincerely apologized but it was a little irritating. Otherwise good experienced and excellent food.
We had some friends in town and decided to take them there for dinner. Everything was excellent
Friday evening, HH, but manageably quiet. Courtly service, finely-made cocktails, and the best HH burger in town.
This was an anniversary dinner. Interesting to have several different servers, not sure they were aware of each others attendance to our needs or lack of same. Service was slow, with we didn't mind since we were catching up on old times. One guest ordered trout, and said it was very fishy, also not prepared for the "head on" presentation. The other 2 of us ordered the hamburger with side salad. The salad was literally only lettuce. It hadn't occurred to us that we weren't asked how we would like the burgers prepared, however, the menu did have the warning * undercooked meat could cause illness. Both burgers came out with an outside sear but raw throughout the remainder of the burger. We sent it back and requested the burgers be cooked to a medium level. We were told they would need to be remade (great!), so it would take a while. It sure did...and when our meals came out, the burgers were now well done. We picked at them and kept our mouths shut. But the meal was not enjoyed by anyone in our party. We were not offered a dessert, but did ask to order one. We were told they had an award winning butterscotch pudding or a chocolate layer cake filled with chocolate mousse. We chose chocolate to share. It was pretty tasty, tho the cake was a bit dry. So, I am sorry to say this is not a place I would return to.
The menu has changed, but the service and quality have not. A wonderful place to dine.
I had heard they recently introduced a new menu so wanted to check it out since I found the menu very limited. It’s still limited if you don’t eat red meat and bacon/pork. Fried chicken is good but greasy. Squid ink risotto also good but not a stand out. Service was very good.
Food was really not spectacular and prices were high for so-so food.
We've been regulars at ISK everytime we are in Portland. Usually, it's been a great experience. However, this time I have to say it was quite bad. The time that it took the food to get to us was incredibly long. No apology from our wait staff or explanation as to why it took so long. Also, they forgot two items and needed for someone from our party to walk up to the kitchen and ask for it.
No, I would PASS on Irving St. Kitchen after this experience. Since there are so many choices within a small radius, why settle for bad service.
The service was absolutely horrible. I can't imagine why it would take 45 minutes to get wine served to the table under any circumstances. Not food...wine. We were completely floored and voiced our displeasure. Nothing done about it beyond an apology. I was SO disappointed because I raved about the place from past experiences and took out-of-town guests. Will not go back.
Wonderful meal and service! Great restaurant that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who enjoys good food. There were four of us and we had the whole chicken and all the sides - everything was great! We also had the biscuits with ham and pepper jelly - soooo good! Butterscotch pudding for dessert was over the top. The service was great and ambiance good. Pricing was less than expected considering the quality of the food. Definitely will be going back.
They have changed their menu. No longer an upscale selection. Instead, it is like an upscale bar food choice. i will no longer come here for a special dinner. How do they expect to compete with the real bar food places?
We loved dining in one of the curtained cubbies! The food is always fresh and ever so tasty.
I am from LA and have never experienced such great food for value. Amazing service and beautiful ambiance.
Came for the fried chicken, been wanting to come here for 6 years. We came in the middle of a holiday weekend and it was practically empty at 7pm. Our service was poor at best, took forever to be greeted at our table and just didn’t feel as great as it’s reputation. Food was wonderful but portions were much smaller than anticipated, smallest wedge salad I have ever had.
Part of our meal was happy hour part off. Happy hour prices reasonable, cocktails 'ok'. Our server was on point with good timing and suggestions. Our food was hot, nicely presented and flavorful although a touch too salty. Meatballs sauced just right, wings while not spicy enough for me were quite meaty, juicy, and the dip thick enough to coat the 'dunk'. The quinoa with burrata was really a large portion which we shared we shared. Next time I would try the pork chop but we were too full. Go for the butterscotch pudding w/CBD lol.........was delicious : )
Great food, on two separate weekends. The fried oysters and butterscotch dessert are to die for! We’ll be back again! Extra kudos for outdoor lift that let my wheelchair bound friend arrive like royalty!
We came for the fried chicken and were not disappointed. It was fantastic and the gravy that came with the mashed potatoes was some of the best I've ever had. We agreed we need to come back for brunch and order the biscuits and gravy just to get that wonderful flavor again!
