We have always love ISK, but this visit was definitely not the type of experience we typically have. The food was okay, but the overall service was terrible. Our waitress was not engaging or friendly, and we had to ask for plates and silverware multiple times as our dinner was served and we had no way to eat it. The service was incredibly slow considering there seemed to be plenty of staff and how few people were in the restaurant.
1person loved Moraccan eggs, another did not. Coffee great. Fried chicken great. Noise level of music too loud.
Service was spotty. Trout & quinoa was tasteless.
If you stick wit biscuits, eggs & bacon it is good.
Service was excellent from host to server. Food came out at vastly different times. There were four of us and the First two items came out 5+ minutes before the third and the fourth was delivered to another table so it had to be remade and brought out last. The server sincerely apologized but it was a little irritating. Otherwise good experienced and excellent food.
We had some friends in town and decided to take them there for dinner. Everything was excellent
Friday evening, HH, but manageably quiet. Courtly service, finely-made cocktails, and the best HH burger in town.
This was an anniversary dinner. Interesting to have several different servers, not sure they were aware of each others attendance to our needs or lack of same. Service was slow, with we didn't mind since we were catching up on old times. One guest ordered trout, and said it was very fishy, also not prepared for the "head on" presentation. The other 2 of us ordered the hamburger with side salad. The salad was literally only lettuce. It hadn't occurred to us that we weren't asked how we would like the burgers prepared, however, the menu did have the warning * undercooked meat could cause illness. Both burgers came out with an outside sear but raw throughout the remainder of the burger. We sent it back and requested the burgers be cooked to a medium level. We were told they would need to be remade (great!), so it would take a while. It sure did...and when our meals came out, the burgers were now well done. We picked at them and kept our mouths shut. But the meal was not enjoyed by anyone in our party. We were not offered a dessert, but did ask to order one. We were told they had an award winning butterscotch pudding or a chocolate layer cake filled with chocolate mousse. We chose chocolate to share. It was pretty tasty, tho the cake was a bit dry. So, I am sorry to say this is not a place I would return to.
The menu has changed, but the service and quality have not. A wonderful place to dine.
I had heard they recently introduced a new menu so wanted to check it out since I found the menu very limited. It’s still limited if you don’t eat red meat and bacon/pork. Fried chicken is good but greasy. Squid ink risotto also good but not a stand out. Service was very good.
Food was really not spectacular and prices were high for so-so food.
We've been regulars at ISK everytime we are in Portland. Usually, it's been a great experience. However, this time I have to say it was quite bad. The time that it took the food to get to us was incredibly long. No apology from our wait staff or explanation as to why it took so long. Also, they forgot two items and needed for someone from our party to walk up to the kitchen and ask for it.
No, I would PASS on Irving St. Kitchen after this experience. Since there are so many choices within a small radius, why settle for bad service.
The service was absolutely horrible. I can't imagine why it would take 45 minutes to get wine served to the table under any circumstances. Not food...wine. We were completely floored and voiced our displeasure. Nothing done about it beyond an apology. I was SO disappointed because I raved about the place from past experiences and took out-of-town guests. Will not go back.
Wonderful meal and service! Great restaurant that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who enjoys good food. There were four of us and we had the whole chicken and all the sides - everything was great! We also had the biscuits with ham and pepper jelly - soooo good! Butterscotch pudding for dessert was over the top. The service was great and ambiance good. Pricing was less than expected considering the quality of the food. Definitely will be going back.
They have changed their menu. No longer an upscale selection. Instead, it is like an upscale bar food choice. i will no longer come here for a special dinner. How do they expect to compete with the real bar food places?
We loved dining in one of the curtained cubbies! The food is always fresh and ever so tasty.
I am from LA and have never experienced such great food for value. Amazing service and beautiful ambiance.
Came for the fried chicken, been wanting to come here for 6 years. We came in the middle of a holiday weekend and it was practically empty at 7pm. Our service was poor at best, took forever to be greeted at our table and just didn’t feel as great as it’s reputation. Food was wonderful but portions were much smaller than anticipated, smallest wedge salad I have ever had.
Part of our meal was happy hour part off. Happy hour prices reasonable, cocktails 'ok'. Our server was on point with good timing and suggestions. Our food was hot, nicely presented and flavorful although a touch too salty. Meatballs sauced just right, wings while not spicy enough for me were quite meaty, juicy, and the dip thick enough to coat the 'dunk'. The quinoa with burrata was really a large portion which we shared we shared. Next time I would try the pork chop but we were too full. Go for the butterscotch pudding w/CBD lol.........was delicious : )
Great food, on two separate weekends. The fried oysters and butterscotch dessert are to die for! We’ll be back again! Extra kudos for outdoor lift that let my wheelchair bound friend arrive like royalty!
We came for the fried chicken and were not disappointed. It was fantastic and the gravy that came with the mashed potatoes was some of the best I've ever had. We agreed we need to come back for brunch and order the biscuits and gravy just to get that wonderful flavor again!
We tried the oysters and their fabulous dessert. Both were excellent, and we plan to come back for more!
Great food and drinks plus the service was great!
I had met an old friend from Las Vegas while visiting Portland for the first time. This brunch spot was perfect for catching up - great food, amazing atmosphere and we definitely want to come back when we are back in town!
The most delicious biscuits and donuts. OMG! We were blown away.
Great food -- enjoyed eating in the "library," by the round window,
Fun place. A bit noisy. Solid bar. Excellent fried chicken. Don't miss the collard greens. Nice service. We came from out of town and originally thought there'd be 4 in our party. At the last minute, we had 6. While Open Table said it was impossible to add our two friends, I called early the morning before our reservation and left a begging voicemail. Hostess called back later in the day and squeezed all 6 of us in for a 7 pm Saturday reservation. Very thankful for that.
There are lots of great places to eat in pdx. This is one of the better in the rose city. We had great service, a superb meal with perfectly prepared food. The fried chicken here is apparently famous and I can see why. Several at our table ordered it and everyone was wowed. Super flavorful, crisp outside and tender, moist inside. The whipped potatoes and gravy were the perfect compliment. Pork plantain appetizer was one of the evening's highlights. Wine list unusual but very creative. I liked it but not everyone will. Try Irvine street kitchen, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Food out outstanding! Our server was so wonderful! Gave us great recommendations!
Great food!! We were celebrating our daughter's birthday. Great place and service!
Food and ambiance were great! Service started out great, but our waitress disappeared for long stretches of time after we received our entree.
My son celebrated his birthday with his friends recently. They messed up an order and it took a while to get served. The manager apologized to them and they got a complimentary side order as well as a significant discount on an entree. They were impressed and will definitely be back.
I think the menu could use some changes...and the pictures of the fare offered do not match in the case of a few items.
The trout was a disappointment. But the biscuits and the butterscotch pudding were out of this world. Won’t be back for dinner but I would consider brunch!!
This was our first experience at Irving Street. The food was delicious, the drinks were creative and tasty and the ambiance offered a laid back- cool vibe that Portland is known for. We will definitely return on another weekend trip.
Friendly staff....nice place. Excellent biscuits. My poached eggs were cold in the eggs Benedict but looked great. (They gladly remade it and it was a little warmer the second time)But too much Hollandaise which was tepid and I did not care for the stemy arugula saturated with it. Would have preferred some spinach julienned. Husband’s chicken and waffles were very good. The coffee wAs fresh and well made but a very acidic type of bean. Pleasant atmosphere.
Had company in town so we brought them to ISK for brunch. The food was very good but took forever to arrive. The kitchen gave up an order for pancakes to nibble on while we waited. The pancakes were very good. Took forever to get my coffee and refills.
This place pays attention to the "details". From greeting to leaving, the service last Friday was top notch! The ambiance is Portland perfect and the dishes were all tasty explorations. I can't wait to return for another culinary delightful experience. (and no, I am not related to anyone or employed by the restaurant ;) )
The appetizers, entrees and dessert were unique and delicious. The service was great. We will absolutely recommend it to friends and family.
Food is great. New menus and concept....very confusing. Some items are dinners, some are share items. Food then comes as it leaves the kitchen...as though everyone at table will share each dish. Those who ordered ...say a burger....never saw it until 15 minutes after other items arrived. Large Plates...to be shared were things like a pound of salmon. Which might be nice, but two of four didn’t eat fish. Every dish was good, but the meal was frustrating. The bread we ordered for our teens to have while we enjoyed a drink, came well after our sporadic ‘meals’.
Great food and great service! My go to when in town.
Our waiter was amazing and the food was incredible. Great prices as well! I definitely recommend this for a date night.
