We went to the restaurant because we had been there before and enjoyed the experience. This time was very different.
Once seated we waited for our wait person for quite a while.......people walked by and saw us waiting with our menus closed.....still no service. After it was obvious that no one was going to attend to us I got up to ask the hostess for help. She had to go into the kitchen to find our waiter.
The waiter was unapologetic for being inattentive. He barely paid attention to our table and forgot to bring me a second glass of wine until we were finished with our meal. By then we had decided that dessert was not an option because we were very angry about the service.
The food we ordered was also an issue......my husbands paella was awful.......full of chicken wings with bones and tough poorly cooked seafood. He was so disappointed. My son had ordered the mussels which were also mediocre.
We will not be back. Our son was visiting from NYC for the weekend and I was excited to take him to the Cafe because of it reputation and our past experiences. It was very disappointing over all.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The staff was poorly trained and the food was poorly prepared.
Perfect place for a great meal and some live music. We were really impressed with the dishes we chose and the service we received. Will definitely be back!
I love it the space and jazz music was on point Saturday will be back again!!!
Irregardless never disapponts. Best place in town for creative vegetarian meals.
My husband and I ate at Irregardless before catching a show at the comedy club - I'm so glad we did! It was our first time and I was not disappointed at all! Our waitress was so attentive and helpful. We ordered the calamari....MMMMM! For our entree, my husband ordered steak and I ordered paella. Both were so delicious! I can't wait to go back and try some other items with my little vegetarian.
Went there with a friend who highly recommended this place, it was great!!
We got a babysitter (a big deal for us ), and chose Irregardless based on WOM reviews. I’m allergic to Gluten and dairy. This is a great restaurant for those of us w restrictions. They took them seriously, helped me make choices, and didn’t mind when my husband & I shared an entree (we had a Big appetizer). Great service, yummy food, and comfortable/low key atmosphere.
My only complaint is that we were seated in the back, where the long bench is, at s little table for 2.
There are 4 or 5 of these little tables crammed together. There’s NO WAY to have a romantic little dinner together when you are basically in your neighbor’s lap and can hear every word of every conversation because you’re soooo close. :0
Not happy about that little detail at all. We paid our bill and moved to the bar (I know right?!) -to get a quieter spot to chat. We had desert and enjoyed the live music. Overall it’s a cute place with good food and friendly/attentive service. Just tough when you’re wanting a quiet little date night dinner as a couple.
We sat outside by choice on the side of the building and saw the sun set,
All staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful in meal choice.
We enjoyed our meals ( polenta with wild mushrooms and ?). We also plait a salad which they were kind enough to serve in two dishes. The coconut cake was also very good.
The menu offers plenty of choices and I liked the generosity of vegetables with my dish.
We will definitely go back.
My girlfriend and I went here for an early anniversary celebration and we could not have loved it more! We decided on Irregardless because we were looking for somewhere with live music but with a relaxed atmosphere, and it definitely did not disappoint. Peter Lamb and the Wolves (jazz) were playing the night we went, which provided the perfect ambience for a romantic nighttime getaway. Couples, young and old, were swing dancing in droves; we were so taken by the whole experience that we resolved to take a dance class together so that we can come back to tear up the dance floor (and hopefully not get shown up by some of the older couples out there who were killing it)!
... We liked the food and music. Our waiter was extremely slow in taking orders and it took very long to get the food. However, the place has great atmosphere. We would certainly go back.
We had a wonderful meal and the service was excellent. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Raleigh!
Everything was exceptional as usual except for one complaint. I ordered the vegan gluten free strawberry cake to go (on my birthday, after a large meal) and was so disappointed because it was not fresh. I just ate the fruit on the top after a bite of the bread. I've had it before and it didn't have a complaint about the first time. Please don't serve it stale it was not good!
overpriced and heavily oiled. We shared 4 dishes which were all only "OK." No interest in going back for dinner. Brunch is much nicer, more consistent in quality of food.
Love the atmosphere and food as always. We have been there before on different occasions and loved it each time. Will definitely recommend to others.
The food was fabulous, and such large portions that I had a very filling lunch the following day. Wait staff were just the right blend of friendly and attentive without being overbearing or chatty. Just a lovely meal with some great background live blues guitar.
My first time there it was very pleasurable.
We made 8pm dinner reservations and were in the middle of our meal around 8:45 when our waitress told us a band was starting up at 9:00 and that we needed to finish our dinner and leave or pay the cover if we wanted to stay. She wasn't nasty about it, but it was a very awkward, unpleasant experience.
If you want to charge a cover for people coming in after 9, so be it, but 8 is a very common time for a dinner reservation and this is a restaurant, not a night club.
Food was awesome with great choices for one with food restrictions. Owner stopped by to see if we were happy and we were!! Great night to go - great jazz ! Dessert over the moon..
We enjoyed our dinners, particularly our appetizer which was one of the small plates, fish cakes with caper and anchovy aioli. We went most recently because of the special jazz performance on Saturday evening. We were able to get a good table for the performance and enjoyed the intimate atmosphere.
Great menu with tasty GF and Vegan options. Enjoyable live music but not overpowering. One of the best Paella dishes ever!
Great food! The shrimps and grits were outstanding.
Great vegetarian food!
We have been to Irregardless twice now and love it. I can't believe we've been in Raleigh for 15 years and had never been there. We love the live music and eclectic menu. It's now one of our favorites!
There was some nice live jazz playing in the background & the service was good, but the cost of the food did not compare to what came out on the table. Well made food but we all left hungry.
Always been one of my favorite restaurants in Raleigh. Thank you for maintaining the tradition of healthy food and strong community leadership.
Irregardless has enjoyed several decades of success serving interesting, nutritious food, with some fine options for vegetarians and anyone on a special diet. I particularly liked my fish cakes and my wife's quinoa salad with mango.
Very attentive waiter. And of course the food was great, including the vegan options.
It had been to long since we were here. I had the house salad. Loved the dressing. Gave my wife a little and she loved it too. She had a glass of Malbec. Very nice. She had the duck. She loves duck and she said it was awesome. I had to have my Chili Relleno. Still one of the best I've had. We'll be back, only sooner next time.
For years, this has been our top go-to spot for great food and music in an appealing setting. Great service too. This visit demonstrated that we picked a real winner when this place went to the top spot on our list long ago. We think it's still the best all-around restaurant in Raleigh.
Great as usual. Food was delicious, service was good, and prompt.
Great live music.
The ambience and live entertainment make the experience unique. The food is good, but I wish the menu was larger.
Our evening got off on poor footing when the hostess informed us there would be a "smidge" of a wait on our reservation for four. Twenty-five minutes is not a smidge and there is practically nowhere (aside from the bar) to wait.
We love Irregardless. It never lets us down! It’s a casual restaurant with high level comfort food. The prices are fair, the portions are generous, and the food is delicious. To start, I highly recommend the warm goat cheese salad. We have it every time we go to Irregardless. For mains, I had the seafood fettuccine, my wife the Morgan Street chicken. Both are excellent choices. And our dessert was a tasty apple-blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream. See what I mean about comfort food? But it’s all so good. One of our favorite Raleigh restaurants! Do make a reservation - we’re not alone in loving Irregardless. It gets very busy.
We love the menu at Irregardless. It suits all kinds of eating preferences. I love the shrimp and grits and my husband orders the seafood pasta. I have had salads and all sorts of other menu items and they have all been excellent. My friend is a vegan and she is a regular here too.
Food was amazing. I loved the free assortment of breads brought to the table. The fresh orange juice and coffee that came with my brunch was also a very nice touch! I loved the harpist playing music while we dined. I will definitely be returning with friends again for brunch in the near future!
I have been going to Irregardless for over 40 years. It’s still my go to restaurant. I have my favorite dishes for example I dream about the seafood linguine. But I also like new dishes And I am impressed by Arthur Gordon’s philosophy of food and the fact that he is a decent human being. It’s like a comfortable pair of old shoes but really really nice shoes. My children hated to go There when they were younger. They thought it was a health food restaurant. Now they’re 30 and when they’re home for a visit they usually want to go to Irregardless. Keep up the good work.
Great food , great live music and great atmosphere.
The restaurant is cute and live music was cool. However, we felt like we were sitting with another couple because the 2 seater tables are practically on top of each other. No private convos to be had! The food was just okay.
