Overall we had a great time. The grilled octopus is the best you’ll ever eat! I order halibut which it a typical selection for me while dinning out. This halibut was very disappointing, I actually didn’t even think it was halibut, it was super thin, not more than a 1/2” thick, tasteless and the texture was mushy. Was also not impressed with the cocktails.
Great place......loud on Fridays....kinda like you are in a crowded warehouse.....
Excellent atmosphere, food & service. Online I couldn’t tell if this restaurant would be best for lunch or dinner. We ended up having lunch here, but it would have been great for a nice dinner spot as well. I had a dozen oysters & the Gold Creek from WA was my favorite of the daily selection. My husband had the lobster roll & he said it was the best he has ever had. Our waitress had great customer service. We loved everything about the experience & highly recommend it.
This restaurant has excellent oysters-but does not offer any Vodka or Premium Gin. They only have 1 Chardonnay by the glass. Very skimpy wine list. For those who love seafood but like craft cocktails, you will be fine. Also, they do NOT have ketchup for fries.
Always the best and freshest seafood. Very cool decor and fun staff
Really creative dishes - you can tell there is a chef in the Kitchen!
I was in town with co-workers for work and stumbled upon Ironside. We loved everything about this place. The service was outstanding and food just as good. Great selection of bourbon and scotch, and cocktails. Favorites were chowder fries, black cod, and salmon.
If you like seafood, you will love this place.
Fresh seafood prepared well.
Definitely would come back. Food is really good especially the oysters and lobsters. The decor was unique and lively. Don't come here expecting fast service. It's not slow, more of a no rush leisurely pace.
We were disappointed after making clear to the waiter one of our party has food allergies and being served food with the ingredient. Then our Mother on Mother's day was served the wrong plate which had to be sent back. Then the new plate was rushed and under-cooked and had to be sent back. So we were finished with our meals before she even got hers. The worst part: no manager ever came over to apologize and nothing was offered to try and make up for these problems. This seems arrogant to me.
Oysters and fish were excellent. Some of the Caesar salad was a bit wilted but still tasted good. Our waitress was very nice but the person that brought our drinks out was extremely unfriendly, almost to the extent of being rude. Fortunately she only brought drinks to our table once and the rest of the evening was enjoyable.
We’d just finished a weekend in Valle de Guadalupe, tasting wine and exotic Mexican cuisine and wanted something American and more familiar. We lucked into Ironside and sat at the bar in front of the hardworking kitchen staff. It was phenomenal; our best meal in a good while. The oysters were fresh and briny, my grilled octopus was deliciously tender as was my wife’s lobster roll, the line cooks and chefs worked nonstop but still joked with each other. It was a wonderful meal and a great experience.
Food and service always great!!! One of our favorite resto
The food & service was excellent! The only reason I didn’t give a 5 for overall is because of the counter seating. Very uncomfortable, there were 5 of us & a baby. Tiny round table that can barely hola 2 plates. For the amount of $$$ we spent not acceptable!
Ironside has a great ambiance and a varied/eclectic clientele - which is so refreshing. Everything we ordered was tasty (oysters, kanpachi crudo, lobster roll, chilled lobster, SD uni).
Good food, fair service. Friendly chef.
Very fresh fish, great cocktails, amazing service. Happy hour menu is very limited.
Seafood was excellent~ we had the oysters, ceviche, and clam chowder. Service was excellent. Would like to come back to try more!
Great experience overall - loved the food and the ambiance especially. Only bummer was that our server brought dessert menus but never came back to see if we wanted to order anything!
Fresh delicious food. Yummy! Excellent service.
Depending on the occasion, yes. I went there for an anniversary dinner and requested that they set the table up for me and my fiancé. If they weren’t able to they should have at least let me know ahead of time. The server I had seemed to be having a rough day as well. The big platter was decent, 3/6 of the oysters were good and lobster roll was great. But overall I would give this place a 2.5/5
Excellent service. The donut for dessert was amazing.
Everything was excellent but the halibut wasn’t very flaky and tasted like a more fishier tasting fish. But overall it wa great
Very good restaurant. We had the whole fish. Delish.
Over priced for what you get.
Since we live in the Midwest, my wife and I were extremely excited about the ultra fresh seafood at Ironside Fish and Oyster. The restaurant’s support of local fishermen and their fishery is also very noble. Our Dining Experience did not disappoint. The decor was modern cozy yet hip upscale nautical.
We started with the grilled oysters and fresh San Diego sea urchin. The catch of the day was local whole spotted sea bass and stone crab The only way you can get fresher seafood is the catch it yourself and cook it when you dock from your fishing trip!
Ironside Fish and Oyster will always be at the top of our San Diego Restaurant List!
Fantastic fresh seafood in a fun environment. I can not recommend Ironside Fish & Oyster enough for your next date night.
Fantastic restaurant,I’m in the US every year all the way from Australia and make my way there this time drove 2.5 hours from Palm Springs to eat and then drove back it’s not the first time I’ve done this and won’t be the last .
Great Service. Was seated right at the time of our reservation. Waiter was on point and very knowledgeable of the menu. Really friendly. The table felt a little cramped. But the food was amazing as well as the wine.
Great service, great food/very fresh. Foodies will love this spot!
Our server was superb and so friendly.
I have the lobster roll. It was a little greasy. The lobster didn’t have a lot of flavor. But it was a very rich dish. It was served with fries. It needed lemon and less grease.
Delicious!! Love the cocktails, food and decor! It was really loud though- hard to have a conversation
As usual, a great experience. Service and food were top notch!
Lovely ambience and great food.
Amazing service, really great food, one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had—really great experience.
Great gluten free options and delicious fish. Loved the rockfish ceviche. And loved the cocktails- so well made, although sadly they'd take longer than the food. We ordered the appetizer and 2 drinks and the appetizer came before drinks. Same thing for dessert, dessert came a good 5-10 min before cocktails, which was tricky bc there were no gluten free desserts (no sorbet or ice cream available) so I only got a cocktail. But delicious it was!
Marie was exceedingly kind to us and talked to us about our stay in San Diego. Our server was helpful in walking us through the menu and making choices to build a delicious meal. All of the staff is friendly. We enjoy sitting at the counter to watch the pastry chefs preparing different items.
Un lugar agradable en el lunch y muy buena la calidad de los alimentos.
