Ironside Fish & Oyster
We are now offering Happy Hour MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY FROM 3:00PM - 5:00PM.
Little Italy was built by the fishing industry. Ironside attempts to continue that narrative. It's our contemporary interpretation of the classic fish house and oyster bar. Located in a historic auction house on India St we did a full comprehensive restoration of the building, with three open-air culinary hubs featuring an expansive raw bar, chefs table, and bakery. We tried to be mindful of the past while looking towards the future.
Probably one of the best meals I've had in years
I like the place. Oysters are excellent and the fresh catch (white seabass) was good.
Todo perfectamente cocinado y delicioso!
Everything we ate was fantastic!! Ordered the peel and eat shrimp, octopus, lobster roll and mussels
The food was amazing- it’s a beautiful location and they really made my friend feel special for her birthday.
I am absolutely coming back!
Delicious food. The octopus was tender and cooked perfectly. We tried a half dozen oysters and went with the servers recommendation, they did not disappoint. The bone marrow Oscar was savory and delightful. I highly recommend!!
Ceviche was horrible and chewy. Drinks were good. Service was poor. I had to utilize other servers to order what I wanted. Oysters were great.
Excellent food and service, fun ambiance on an early Saturday evening
Delish, awkward server, small portions for full priced menu, good happy hour
We had the most wonderful experience last night entertaining family. The service was outstanding - attentive but not overbearing, all with smiles. The new drink menu is fabulous. Everyone loved every item, from apps to entrees. The new opah tartare is a great addition to the menu and I would definitely order it again. We will definitely be going back soon.
Cool decor, and super fresh seafood!
Maine lobster was grilled well. Life is grand.
Sat at the bar for dinner this time; great service!
Absolutely perfect evening! Great service, the seafood was gorgeous, and banana pudding for dessert!?! Highly recommend!
After hearing about this place being one of the best seafood-specialty restaurants in San Diego for years, I was really excited to finally try it. Thennn we got the food and I was a little disappointed. We ordered chowder fries and clam chowder to start, and nothing was special about either of them. Chowder fries were just wet fries with no flavor. The biscuit that came along with the chowder was sadly cold as well. Then came our scallops and lobster roll. The scallops were very good quality and yummy in that aspect, but there was virtually no crust to them which was a let down. The lobster roll was also good, but very small for the price, and definitely not the best lobster roll I’ve had in San Diego. On top of that they’re too pretentious to have ketchup to go with your fries which makes no sense at all lol. The best part of this meal was our half a dozen oysters that we ordered which came after we’d finished everything else, which is understandable. However, service was great and our server was knowledgeable which made the experience better albeit the food which was lacking.
Overall everything was really good. We had an issue with an oyster that wasn’t so fresh and they took care of us very well and provided great concern and attentiveness. It was a lovely place to have dinner. The ambiance was amazing and we would go there again.
Awesome atmosphere, great service, and the lobster roll was the best I’ve ever had.
We ate outside and it was a nice Sunday afternoon.
Food was average but super expensive. My girlfriend cut her food on a nail sticking out of the chair and the manager came over to ask if she was okay then offered no compensation. We expected to see something reflected on our bill and let our waitress know when there was nothing. Our waitress went back and talked to the manager who took $15 off of our $150 bill. We will not be returning to Ironside.
Food and service were on point!
Overall service, food, and drinks were great and our server was amazing !
Good was good, but expensive. Our server was not great.
Noise was way too loud. Not sure how you can soften noise? Raw bar backed up so there was a delay, but understand everyone is under staffed these days..
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. It is truly a great experience with a well thought out plan of your meal and enjoyment. I would recommend this to any seafood and cocktail lover.
Awesome happy hour and friendly staff
Great Food, music very loud
Took too long to get ordered drinks and oysters/shrimp at the beginning. Other food and drink orders later came quickly. Both servers were excellent and apologetic for how long the food was taking at the beginning. Music was very loud at our outdoor table. It was difficult to hold a conversation with others at the table.
The high quality of the food made up for the other downside factors.
Things seemed to settle down toward the end of happy hour.
Amazing food. Incredibly fresh seafood. Try the oysters and local catch with butter sauce.
Everyone enjoyed the evening
We will return
Best oysters in San Diego! Staff is super attentive and professional, ambiance is great for a casual get-together or a formal "date."
Wish lobster Roll size would be slightly bigger !!
The hostess staff was not good at all. It's rude to ask someone to wait with nowhere to wait. There were open tables in staffed sections that they just weren't filling for some reason even though the covid restrictions have been lifted. Maybe bc I'm from the east coast (Boston) but the service was sub-par. The food was good, but a little pricey imo. I would recommend the Nautalist oysters. They import east coast lobster... why when you are on the pacific coast? Their lobster roll looked like pink chicken salad... maybe they need to do more research for their menu.
The Manhattan cocktail was weak, I'm honestly not sure there was more .25oz of bourbon in the thing. A manhattan of any variety should be a majority content of rye bourbon.
Alex was a very good server, very nice and accomodating.
Extremely nice staff. We arrived late for our reservation but were still able to be seated without a problem.
First time great waiter helped us order made suggestions.
Had amazing service and the food is always exceptional.
Get the seafood tower! That was the most incredible part of the meal and I would order again in a heartbeat!
Sunday of a busy holiday weekend so service was initially good but additional staff are needed. Crab cakes were okay. Both the Mai Tai and mojito were mostly ice in cute kitchy containers.
Once again food was great and our waitstaff was super helpful. Quick and responsive with great personality. Would spend what we spent all over again.
Amazingly delicious oysters and lobster. I ordered market fish that came with a butter sauce that was to die for. Don’t skip desert! This experience was worth every penny.
The food was superb! Everything from the fresh bread to the octopus was amazing! Will highly be recommended to anyone coming to the area. I also really liked our waiter Andrew, he was very attentive and had some great recommendations!
