Very specialized seafood menu. Raw bar but not extensive fish options on the menu. Ala cart
Really cute ambiance and food was delicious!
Lobster Roll was fantastic. They make there own bread. Best ever.
Vacation night dinner- 3 of us- delicious!
Excellent food and great service. Marco is great!!
Everything was AMAZING!
Very nice! Good food and service!
I messed up and made my reservation for the wrong day but they still managed to seat us on Valentines Day with no wait. I was not expecting that once I realized I messed up the date of our reservation. The host was great, server great and of course the food was amazing. Thank you Ironside!!!
Great flavor, fresh seafood and a killer Clam Chowder. A must do if you visit San Diego
It had been many years since I had eaten Oysters Rockefeller and I was not disappointed. They were incredible!!!
Our waiter was excellent! My only complaint was how close our table was to other guests. Larger size guests had difficulty getting in and out of their seats. It was very difficult to have a normal volume conversation.
Ironside is a must visit for delicious seafood. We loved the uncomplicated menu and ambiance. It felt like a speakeasy. Perfect spot in Little Italy. The drink menu was creative and fun. The price on the lobster roll was a steal. It was one of the best I had—rivaled even the east coast! We can’t wait to come back.
Fresh oysters and steamed shrimp were a great way to start the meal, and the fresh bread is worth every calorie! The fresh lobster in the lobster roll was also delicious.
It was my moms 70th birthday and they made her a special desert without asking based on our table conversation with the waiter. 5 stars. Everything was perfect.
We like the restaurant!!! The right amount of noise and music give our talk so much privacy. And we really enjoy the table settings and the vibe as a whole! Really nice!
We live in Texas but when we visit San Diego (which is often), this restaurant is on our must do list! We love the atmosphere, and the seafood is outstanding!
Staff went extra mile to celebrate our wedding anniversary with dessert & Sparkling wine!
The restaurant is a huge open space with little to absorb sound which makes it quite a noisy venue. Fortunately we were seated in a quieter area which did not inhibit conversation.
The service and food were outstanding and I would definitely recommend Ironside Fish and Oyster if you are looking for top quality seafood.
Incredible ambiance, service, and killer seafood! We sat at the chef counter and loved seeing all the action. The octopus was incredibly tender and delicious, the brioche bread super soft and buttery, and let’s not forget the seafood tower! We’ll be back!
The Lobster A La Plancha was outstanding! One 2 lb was perfect for sharing with some sides.
Great happy hour!! Little Italy is a cool area to explore.
Our server, Bonny R, was a gem and suggested great pairings. Food, service and ambiance were fantastic as usual
The kampachi crudo wasn’t properly trimmed. Blood line, sinew & skin still on fish. Their popular bread loaf under cooked. The hamachi Kama was under seasoned. The scallion lime sauce boring. At dessert time , donut grossly under cooked. Being consistent is part of being professional, looks like we lost the real cooks on that day. So disappointed with your current standards. Service still remains high on my list. 😃
Everything was amazing. Great atmosphere
La comida deliciosa el servicio malo
great menu, solid service. wine lust could use some help.
Noise level was loud. I would not go there if i wanted to converse with friends. They were playing music and guests were talking over it. The food was excellent. We had the branzino - maybe the best seafood dish ever. Service was very attentive.
We really enjoyed our dinner here. It was Saturday night and it was loud, but we could still have a good conversation. The food and service were both outstanding. Wonderful attention to detail. Loved the decor and ambiance. Very modern. The bathrooms could have been a bit cleaner, but overall we really enjoyed the experience and plan to go back.
Do yourself a favor and ignore the hype about this restaurant. The food was mediocre, the service was spotty and it was nearly impossible to have a conversation. March across the street to Davanti for a much better experience.
We arrived early for our reservation and they were happy to accommodate us. However our bar top seating was at a small section of the pastry bar looking directly into a case of donuts.
The whole fish (branzino) was delicious but everything else was average. The oysters were not great and we were initially shorted one. The waiter quickly brought us three additional to make up for the shortage.
Our waiter was excellent and very accommodating even though he was given multiple new tables all at once.
Ironside is a must-do for us when in San Diego! The service is always good, it’s a fun atmosphere, and the lobster roll is like none I’ve ever had.
Disappointed with this one. Was told by a few people to go to Ironside and how great the food AND service was. Even said that to the server and he said hopefully we will rave not only about the restaurant but also the server. Than he abandoned us for like 15 minutes. We kept having to flag down someone else to order additional drinks, order our food, get water and check. Everyone at the table was scratching their heads why the service was so bad when it didn’t seem like there was a huge rush and the place was fully staffed. Food was good but nothing stellar.
We really enjoyed our food, eating two different types of fish with out of this world sauce! The place was beyond noisey. I had a delicious German beer which was worth the trip just for that. And the fish is worth putting up with the noise. Reservations required to get in to such a popular spot. Lively neighborhood too.
When I travel to San Diego and have time, Ironside is a MUST.
Unassuming location and decor welcomes you in.
Smiling, pleasant, and not overly attentive team greets you and mixes cocktails while you wait for a rare open or unreserved table.
Then comes the best part...
delish dishes that will leave you saying "that was amazing" over and over and over.
The choices seem limited but that is because the kitchen does continues to nail what they are good at.
Nothing on this menu will disappoint.
And I am sure that besides raving about the meal and service as you depart you too will be saying "I am coming back to Ironside every time I am in town"
Toda la comida estuvo muy buena. Buen servicio. Lugar bien ubicado, cerca de little italy.
IF&O was a great spot to visit with just my wife. The wait staff was attentive and the food was pretty good. The best bite/sip of the night was actually my wife's cocktail. Great for a lively date night, but not kid friendly.
Disappointed. My husband and I went there for dinner. We sat on the oyster counter. The couple sitting next to us were having a terrible argument. The voices kept escalating. We asked our server several times if we could move elsewhere because the situation was so u comfortable. The couple was also drunk, clearly over-served by the server which didn’t help the situation. Ruined our night so we left early.
Delicious food a d great service
Great restaurant, nothing your expecting to really order but ends up being delicious! Don’t doubt the menu !
This review is hard for me because we have had many spectacular visits to Ironsides. We arrived and were seated and I basically spent the entire meal with people bumping into my back.(high seats with my back to the bar area). Ok, Friday night 8pm, not the best choice for a quiet meal with my spouse....but that wasn’t it. We ordered the “Big” as we have done many times with an additional 6 oysters and specified the oysters we wanted. When the tray arrived, the runner started describing oysters we had not ordered. (We ordered 4 each of 3 varieties). We sent that back and what came back were oysters stacked at nearly 90 degrees, not flat so all the liquor drained out. Some people are probably fine with that since they load the oysters with sauce etc. but I’m a purist and when you dump the liquor, you lose a lot. (No additions for me). Probably our worst experience to date but still solidly good!!
