About Irish Times Pub
Welcome to the Irish Times Pub, where excellent design and authenticity are at the heart of downtown Victoria"s most exciting new pub!
Located at 1200 Government Street, the Irish Times Pub is home to 190 seats over two floors with 80 seats available on our patios, opening onto both Government Street and historic Bastion Square.
Our concept goes far beyond mere architecture though. The Irish Times opened with everything it takes to make a pub successfully Irish, including authentic Live Irish music, 7 nights each week.
The tradition of Ireland has also been extended to our menu, which has been developed on a philosophy of creating traditional Irish food and drink that is both contemporary and funky, showcasing Irish Pub Food as you would see in Ireland today.

The instruments of Irish music are the fiddle, the bodhrán (a single- handed drum) the uileann pipes, which are not dissimilar to Scottish bagpipes, the guitar, banjo, accordion and human voice, such as sean nós (a capella singing). The harp is confined to banquets. A ceilidh (pronounced " kaylee") is a music session in a pub.

Irish Times Pub Ratings and Reviews
We had a great time!!! after making the reservation I didn't know exactly where we would be seated, but when we got there we were very happy with how they accommodated us, they gave us a really great area to have our party in. the staff were friendly and very accommodating. I'm very glad I booked this 8 person reservation for my girlfriend's birthday at Irish Times.
I booked a surprise meal for my partners birthday on the weekend, we both really enjoyed our food, drinks and the staff were really friendly and very attentive!!! The ambiance here is great and we have already recommended the Irish Times Pub to friends of ours!
GREAT SERVICE GUYS!
Our first visit to the Irish Times Pub. What a find. Great pub atmosphere, multi-level, very popular locals and tourist hangout. Great menu choices with several traditional English pub offerings, food was very good, cooked just right, with large portions. Large beer selection, local and imported, and nice wine list. Service was very good, especially considering how busy the pub was. Lucky we had Open Table reservations to be seated in a timely manner. While this was our first visit, it will not be our last. Definitely will be back next trip to Victoria.
Beautiful older stone building, very clean. Great service and good menu and drinks options. I had the fish and chips and I have had better, two large pieces but the breading was a bit heavy. The others had lamb burger and beef burger and they were happy with those
We had a large group to celebrate a co-worker moving on to his next adventure. Irish Times had found us a great room perfect for conversation and very comfortable. The service was amazing! The server was checking on us regularly and was easily able to keep all of our orders separate even though we kept moving all over the place. I think she even remembered some of our names! The server was probably one of the best I've ever seen. :) They made it a wonderful experience for everyone. I would definitely book a group occasion with them again!
Lovely place to enjoy lunch and celebrate with friends. I was visiting with two friends from Ecuador. They thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant for the food, the decor, the service and the low level of music allowing us to talk and visit. One woman has parents coming soon to visit from Quito and she plans to take them to this pub.
Thank you !
It was my son's b day. Ours was a table of 7, including a child who is 4 years old. At first I thought it may not be suitable for a small child but I was wrong. The service was excellent! The food was excellent! The music was excellent! We all have a great time and I definitely will recommend this restaurant to people of all ages. We will be returning to Irish Times!
I liked the pub because of the good location and ability to fit in a big group. However, I found we were a bit cramped at our table. Not all dinner plates could fit at the table and some guests had to eat on their lap :( Still, the food tasted excellent and service was good. Thank you.
Best Bangers & Mash in town! The sausages were superb and the onions and gravy were outstanding. Great portion size too.
Macaroni was delicious, but portion size was really small for the cost. They need to increase portion or reduce price.
Over all, it has a great pub atmosphere with great food.
This was a lovely place to eat in on our last night in Victoria. My fiance had the bangers & mash, and I had the Shepard's pie. Would highly recommend the cider flight--you get four glasses for a reasonable price and the glasses are very large! We would definitely come back!
This is my 6th time to visit the Irish Times in Victoria. I get up there on business every other year or so and it is a must do on every trip. I have learned to make a reservation or you will be waiting a while unless you are alone. I usually am part of a group of 6 or more. They are also good about granting my request of being near the stage. The atmosphere is a party and the musical talent is top notch. I do have a favorite group, Black Angus, however this last time they were not on the schedule. They put on a great show.
The food is good, and a wide selection of beers. If you are looking for a fun place to visit, this is it!
After reading great reviews on Open Table my husband and I were looking for a relaxing night out. We arrived and were seated right away and our waitress was very pleasant but everything seemed rushed. It was like they couldn't wait for us to order food rather than enjoying a couple of drinks first, and when the food came, it all came at once. We were in and out in 45 minutes which was not our plan. Relax and let your patrons enjoy. Calamari was good, Fish and Chips were soggy, so that was disappointing, my bisque was very good , and my premium oyster were so small they weren't worth the money. Wouldn't rush back
We booked the Irish Times Pub on the suggestion of friends and as well the Pub was participating in the "Dine Around Victoria" and offered a $20.00 meal. When we got there, we were seated promptly and server took drink orders. The "dine around" menu, offered two starters, three entree's and two desserts. Between the four of us all menu items were chosen. The salad and soup were fabulous. The Irish stew, pizza and butter chicken were to die for and the desserts were great. Our server, Michelle 55, was attentive and personable. Two thumbs up!@.
Reserved for New Years back in October. Glad we did! It was packed. The band was great, the atmosphere lively, overall my wife and I agree it was the best New Years Eve event we had been to in a very long time. Understandably there were a couple of problems we encountered on such a busy night, but while distracting, they weren't ruinous of a good time. We would go back, just ask for a table further from the door so it didn't feel like we were sitting outside most of the night.
If you like very good Irish comfort food, this will become your new favorite place! Located in a historical building on Government Street, be sure to take time to explore the architecture of the restaurant and bar. Since we were a party of 8, we were seated in a private library-like room so as not to disturb other diners. We enjoyed well crafted pre-dinner drinks (all tasty!), bangers and mash, Irish stew and shepherds pie that all agreed was delicious and, of course, excellent Irish coffees for dessert. Don't miss those! Major kudos go to the wait staff as one of our guests took a fall and banged her head on a bookcase. Within seconds, we were given a baggie of ice and extra towels. Our waitress also happened to be in nursing school and we were given aftercare advice.
I'm a Victoria regular and love Irish Times but the recent introduction of not just the tv's but at full volume, subjecting everyone to not just sports but all the commercials completely ruins the atmosphere and makes a regular conversation without yelling impossible. Bad choice. TV's make the pub like most other pubs and takes away from what makes the Irish Times unique. At the very least put closed-captioning on and turn off the volume and you'll satisfy more people.
the waitress did not know the beer i asked for. i ordered something else and later found the item i had asked for on the menu. when the food came the chips were overdone. the sause was described in the menu as spicy but it was just a flavor of mayonnaise with no spiciness at all. we were not given silverware and i did not get a napkin at all. when my friend and i had finished no one arrived to remove the plates.. when my plate was removed my friend's was left. my glass was empty but i was not asked if i wanted another. i was thirsty from the food but had to wait and wait until i could attract attention and ask for another. it was a long time coming. we were not impressed. j
We always stop by the Irish Times when in Victoria. This time it wasn't too busy, so the entertainment (although good) was too loud and made it hard talk and it was only late afternoon.
Good and drinks were well enjoyed and would recommend.
See you next time!!
