Iridescence Ratings and Reviews
Visited for the first time for combination Valentine's Day/Anniversary. Perfect setting for both. Food (all 3 courses) and service were extraordinary. Wonderful view. Upscale ambiance without being overly pretentious.
Two items for improvement. One, next time I will make reservations by phone rather than online so I can at least check availability of window or booth seating. Two, the lobster tail (my wife had it) was excellent, yet and still the $89 price was baffling -- would never have paid that on anything other than a very special occasion.
Waitress (Jamie) was terrific. Overall waitstaff were engaging and sincere.
Can't wait to go back; will make this a regular stop whenever I am in Detroit.
Iridescence is on the top floor of the Motor City Casino and has a great view of the Detroit river, Ambassador Bridge and skyline. The food is phenomenal. The service form the Hostess stand to the servers is top notch. Chelsea, our server, was professional and informative, with service that was right on cue.
Fantastic!!! My husband and I dined on Valentine's day here and it couldn't have been better! 4 course menu for $85/person. The croutons on the caesar salad were incredible, the fruti marti was to die for, the 10oz. steak filet was cooked perfectly and the salmon was just as large and tasty. The flourless chocolate cake was absolutely amazing! I had a glass of the pinot blanc that was very good as well. The service is top notch was well as the care and beauty of the restaurant.
Great experience! Went to dinner with friends because we had read an article about the view. The view of the city was wonderful. You could see the buildings downtown as well as the Ambassador Bridge. The view was nice during the day but even better with sunset and watching the city light up for the night. The food was delicious and service was great. We will go back!
We showed up at 8:00 for an 8:30 reservation and they were able to seat us right away. Had scallops and crab for appetizers that were delicious. The filet was cooked to perfection but flavor-wise not the best I've had however the wild foraged mushrooms were amazing and paired with the filet brought it up to a level of awesome. Finished off with the chocolate sphere which was delicious. We had a widow seat and the only thing better than the view of Detroit was the look in my girlfriends eyes. She said, "I feel like a princess" lol Definitely worth a second trip.
I had a fantastic birthday dinner. Perfect service starting at the Front Desk, going to the waiters and Manager. We had the lobster salad, filet mignon, mushroom and the lobster Mac n cheese ( yes, we love lobster). We enjoyed every dish. My dessert came with a candle and my name written on the plate. Very thoughtful. We will definitely recommend this place. One of the best restaurants to celebrate your special day ( better than the newest steakhouse in Detroit where we celebrated my husbands birthday last month)
My wife and I were celebrating our 52nd Anniversary and just happen to be staying at the Hotel for a meeting I had to attend the next day. It was a pleasant surprise and we really enjoyed the meal. They were very attentive to our Anniversary, note the plate. :-)
Went here as part of our staycation. We chose the early wine and dine $55 dinner special. It is well worth every penny. Four courses all perfectly portioned for one person and a full glass of good wine. Offerings we chose were broiled oysters, short ribs, Caesar salad, filet with potato purée and asparagus, and pumpkin chocolate cheesecake. The service and food were superb! Our experience made our night! Can’t wait to go back.
While the view and service were outstanding, my steak was terrible. It was burnt on the first try and still overcooked and dry on the second attempt. $35 for a piece of burnt meat on a plate with nothing else, not even a garnish. Not worth it. We were there for our anniversary but the food made it a little less special. Kudos for the beautiful dessert though.
Being that the auto charity preview this night you would think they would be ready for the crowd. We sat down at 9:30pm, ordered at 9:50 and received our food at 11:30. During this time they kept saying that the food will be out in a few minutes, never came. Once we got our food my wife’s steak was under cooked, so we sent it back, they only cooked the pieces that were cut up. They then at that point said they would take the steak off. Terrible service and even worse way of responding to it.
My husband Wayne had our anniversary diner while I was in our room sick with the flu ugh. He was with friends of ours and had a delightful experience. The chef came out and taught him how a real steak should be cooked and it was prepared to perfection. He especially loved our waitress, Jaime who was professional and well informed about everything from cocktails to dessert. Thanks to your entire staff, Bravo and we will be back very soon!
My wife and I had dinner here for our 5th Anniversary and were not disappointed. First of all, in my reservation I had mentioned that we were here for our anniversary. When we arrived, the hostess wished us a happy anniversary before she seated us at an available table of our request. Once we were seated, we were again greeted by the server who took our drink orders with a "happy anniversary". Finally, when our dinner server approached our table, she wished us the same and asked how many years we were married and seemed very genuine. These kind of things made our night seem that much more special. As far as our meals go, my wife got Salmon and I the Filet; both of us were very happy with our meals. We also each had whipped potatoes and asparagus which were both excellent. Our server did a wonderful job explaining dishes for us and made recommendations when requested. At the end of our dinner the server asked if we'd like dessert, which we decline, but she insisted that dessert was on her/the house for our anniversary and brought us a melting chocolate ball cake. The plate came with "Happy 5th Anniversary" written on the plate in chocolate and the server worked her magic to open the chocolate ball to reveal the cake and raspberries that were inside. The view of Downtown Detroit was excellent as well.
Overall, our dinner was fantastic. We would absolutely go back and would recommend Iridescence to anyone looking for a special night with great food, fantastic service, and a nice view!
After a number of visits we have never been disappointed. The food is always incredible. My one bit of advice is to always trust your server. After our first time we were so impressed with our server Helios that we always request him. His suggestions are all spot on.
Waiter was distracting to our romantic evening. He kept dropping by frequently to check on us, or interrupt us, even when it was obvious that we were deep in conversation or eye gazing. He brought the check prematurely and then tried to pick it up before we were ready to go. All in all, even if the food was decent, not the place to go for romance.
