Went for thanksgiving buffet. Most of the dishes were excellent. The two carving station items, Turkey and prime rib, were moist, flavorful and well prepared. Similarly, most of the sides were very good. The only noticeable exception was the stuffing; mostly bread and bland. However, for downtown Chicago, the value was outstanding. We’d go back n

Perfect thanksgiving spot with equal parts casual and nice. Reservation was helpful and staff and accommodations were ready. Everyone left very satisfied!

Thanksgiving day buffet.Packed in very tightly-difficult to just get to buffet. The carving station had prime rib and Turkey both of which were hard to get a decent piece- Turkey too dry, beef too fat.
2 soups, tomato basil and butternut squash were good even if you had to eat out of a paper cup. Salads were very minimal. All the sides were mediocre at best. Dessert bar nothing special but they did keep those restocked well. All this for $39 plus $3 for coffee that was thought to be included.

Had a fantastic time, great food, and professional service. The view is nice, and parking nearby was very affordable. Will definitely go back soon.

6 of us were seated in couches which was fine. The table for eating was knee high and 24 x 24. I told the girl we were there to each brunch not just have drinks. She said that was all they had. We had reservations and there was no way 6 people could eat off such a small table. We ended up leaving. We told her we were going to leave because there was no room to put all our plates and drinks down. She just said OK.

I attended the Sunday brunch with bottomless mimosas or corona. Over an hour for food. Seating was outdoor and it rained. All of our food got wet and waiters just tossed it. Manager was rude and unaccomodating. Only good part is after contacting the event organizer I was given a refund minus the fees. I will not be going nor will I be recommending the Godfrey.

The reason I am disappointed by this place was that the wait was very long after ordering the food and when it was served it was already cold. Also me and my husband ordered same thing but we were not served at the same time. His took much more longer. By the time our food arrived my excitement about this place and food was already down.

In a word... A-MAZING! We were celebrating my daughter's birthday, by having a girl's weekend. We took advantage of their rooftop brunch, something none of us had done before... and we were NOT disappointed at all. The food was spot on delicious. The mimosa package was very appealing. Our server was outstanding and the view was awesome. Highly recommended!!

I expected a better experience for brunch. The server staff was confused about who was actually responsible for our table and when that was finally sorted out, the service was underwhelming. I won't be going back and I don't recommend it for brunch. The food is mediocre and hospitality is nonexistent.

my younger sister, her two friends, and i went for afternoon drinks - each cocktail was beautifully crafted; however, i thought mine was too strong.. i sent it back and got a new one that was still too strong (although beautiful - the colorful sangria i forget its name)... our waitress also took FOREVER to ask us what we wanted - it may have been the worst service i have ever received. HOWEVER, still an incredible view and i will likely still be back because of the view.

Great restaurant with an even greater view. Happened to go during a holiday brunch. They offer a buffet with amazing waffles, omelette station, and a desert selection that is bar none! If you can have Steph as a server you will not be disappointed!

Amazing view, horrible breakfast and service !!!! I had made a reservation for their brunch on Father's Day. Their menu was buffet style, plain eggs, bacon, sausage, store bought- boxed mashed potatoes style, they had someone making omelettes, they had no eggwhites as an option, they did not offered bread, they did offered OJ, coffee, beer and mimosas. It was VERY expensive for a continental breakfast !!!!

Rooftop views are great. Food is average. Was really expecting more out of the cheeseburger and fries. Service was good. Our waitress really struck a nice conversation and did not come off as pretentious as some other river north places can which is very refreshing. Also our high top was a little wobbly and the chairs weren't that comfortable. Especially for my parents who are in their late 50s. Maybe look into upgrading the high top tables and chairs

Amazing atmosphere with great live and DJ music, yummy brunch and sharing options, phenomenal cocktails and just overall fun. This is definitely a place to be seen but didn't feel pretentious. You cannot ask for a more gorgeous view of the Chicago skyline. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. Cannot wait to return in the future.

We went for Mothers Day. Outdoor seating was great as we had wonderful weather. Views of Chicago are always a bonus. Brunch was disappointing. As a frequent traveler, it was just your average hotel food. Fries? Service was adequate with the waitress stopping by once, maybe twice. Unfortunately she didn't know what was available off the menu during brunch. We learned more from the server at the table next to ours.

We booked our reservation for brunch a few weeks in advance to celebrate an early Mother's Day, but the restaurant didn't inform us that the intention was to close down the restaurant for the Derby. We get there, and no one knows that we even have a reservation, even though I'd received a confirmation text the day before. After being sent here and there, we were finally seated, but it was clear we were an afterthought. There were people running around setting up the event, and what I hoped would be a special day for my mother just ended up being very last minute on the restaurant's end. The food was fine, and the waitress was kind and did the best she could, given that she wasn't expecting us and had event tasks to do. But, overall, I was disappointed.

Offered special Easter brunch/lunch. Obviously not prepared to do so. One hostess confessed that it was their first attempt at a holiday buffet and it showed! Our reservation was for 2:00p. By 2:20p one of the buffet lines had closed for lack of food; we asked for salt and pepper and a waiter said they had run out (of salt and pepper??); pancake/waffle station ran out of batter at 2:30p; and on and on. The reason for the 3 star review is the make-up efforts for the numerous fumbles were sincere -- a free drink, an additional entree (not from the buffet), an apology. Next time make enough food, my friends, and maybe offer desserts. Easter is a family holiday and the kids usually demand something sweet. (How do you have a dessert-less buffet?) One last point. This is a very HIP place. The female servers are obviously required to wear extremely short and tight black dresses. The hemlines did not reach our tabletop -- truth. That's fine for the clientele at 11:45p on a Saturday. On a family holiday brunch, you might want to turn down the beautiful people heat a bit. Cater to the crowd you know you'll get.

"Lackluster for an Easter Brunch; the buffet had mixed roast beef (I got a good cut; she didn't). The scrambled eggs were cooked excellently, but had turned cold. The carrots were excellent. She sent back the red wine. My Bloody Mary was served in what appeared to be a ice cream dessert glass; not enough there for $13. She turned to a waffle, but the table ran out of fruit, so she only got raspberries.
Service was excellent from Dani (our server) and Laura (our hostess). They made up well for the shortcomings. We had a great Thanksgiving at your restaurant and we'll be back. But Sunday was not a good experience."

Attended with my family for Easter Brunch. The lines were crazy for waffles and for omelets, one cook in each line. The "buffet" was extremely limited. There was one face painter roaming around and you had to find her for your kid to get their face painted. The staff seemed very unaware of the Easter Brunch that included easter egg hunt and face painting. Didn't feel like a family event on top of the food being very mediocre for the wait and the cost.

I had my parents visiting from out of town and was excited to take them to a nice Chicago rooftop for lunch. While the company and the views were great, the service was very very poor. All of our food came out 10 minutes apart so none of us were able to eat together and it would be 30-45 minutes in between each visit from our waitress. I would understand if it was busier, but there was not a crowd at all at this point. Drinks were forgotten, appetizers were never brought. While i would still come back because the view and the ambience was worth it, I just expect with how much money we are spending there that our wait staff be more attentive.
