Insignia Prime Steak & Sushi Ratings and Reviews
Took my wife there for our anniversary thinking we might as well splurge for the night with no kids. We ordered drinks at the bar while we waited for our reservation, they were off the signature drink list and were ok at best. Then we were seated a few minutes after our reservation after we had to seek out the hostess. I ordered a lobster bisque for an appetizer and it tasted like it was 2 days old. My wife ordered the bacon slab and thought it was good not great, I thought it was ok. I ordered the skirt steak med rare for dinner. It was cooked closer to well done and not tasty at all. She ordered the salmon and barely ate it saying it was just ok. For the pricesvthey charge I expected to be wowed by the food instead I'll eat at the local restaurants in the area that do a much better job for half the price.
We were celebrating my son’s birthday. Our reservation was at 6:00. When I checked in, they told us to wait in the bar. 15 minutes later we were seated. I understand they want to make a bit more money sticking us in the bar area. I do not appreciate that. In such an upscale restaurant, I feel we should be seated close to the time I reserved.
The food was good. The service
Was initially assigned a table next to the bar. It was very loud. I asked to be reassigned to a table on the other side of the restaurant. My husband was drinking sparkling water while the rest of us had still water. One of our waiters mistakenly poured the sparkling water into two of the glasses containing still water. My steak had a hard crust on the outside, in spite of the fact that I ordered it “medium.” No sparklers were added to my daughter’s dessert even though I indicated that we were celebrating a birthday and one of our waiters asked whose birthday it was when we were seated. I have been to this restaurant many times. This meal did not live up to their normal level of service.
was disappointed in the Caesar salad, I prefer the Insignia salad, Filet Mignon was tender and cooked to order, service was excellent, chosen wine was very good, (I would like to see the waiter bring over the bottle for the pour to show I was getting the wine I picked though) desert and cognac after dinner was very good as well.
I would like to see the lighting to be a little better, reading my menu w/ my phone flashlight was annoying, and I hate the valet parking.
One of the top spots in eastern Long Island. Scene, ambiance and food were great. The wait staff are hit/miss though (especially for business meals). Our waiters tag-teamed our group and while the gal was extremely professional and courteous, her counter-part (Daniel) was less than stellar. Overall the restaurant was great and we'll be coming back again.
My husband and I dined there last night and we were both disappointed. We asked for quiet seating and were sat near a 50th birthday party. The table was dirty and when we asked the waiter to clean it, he reluctantly did a poor job. The bread was stale, our steaks were not cooked to the right temperature and cappuccinos were served without sugar. The wait staff didn't follow up on the steak and the sugar took quite awhile to get. Wish we could say better, but it wasn't anywhere near our expectations.
Insignia was a terrific dining experience. Loved the ambiance. The staff was attentive & extremely professional. Our waitress Erica was knowledgeable about the entire menu and part of a very accommodating staff. We liked our drinks, w/ specific nod to “the deal closer .”
The Passion Roll appetizer went over well & was thoroughly enjoyed.
The hi light of the dinner though was of course the steaks. Cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Very nice ambiance, great service and very good place to go with a group since the noise level is fairly high. Food is good but not as good as one would expect for the price. Sister restaurant Black Stone has a similar menue and prices, but a little better quality than here. Overall, I recommend checking it out if you haven’t.
The menu was very good with many different options. For an appetizer, we had the lump crabmeat. It was good. My husband loves a good steak, so we decided to order the porterhouse for two as our main course. It was good and cooked to our liking, however, we have had better. We had a side of corn as it was recommended by our Waiter’s helper... it was kind of like hot kettle corn and the perfect light accompaniment to the steak. The service was very good and the wait staff was very nice and accommodating. I would definitely come back to this place again. Next time, I would order something different however
We went to dinner on November 3 they sat us outside. We were freezing. One of our filets came well done. Our waiter was somewhat rude and difficult to understand. We had to find our server several times as he was never around. The manager came over when the new filet came out to make sure it was cooked properly. They did pick up the tab for that steak. For the price we just expected more
i have been to Insignia about 10 times and we were very disappointed. first we made a reservation for 6 for 7.30 didnt get seated till 7:55 and that is only because we kept asking the hostess who was totally over whelmed. 2. when we were seated it was in the far corner of the room furthest from the front door . 3.. the air was right on top of us and we were all freezing (6 people) we asked that it be turned down to no avail. 4 service was not good at all 5. food took forever in all it was almost 3 hours for dinner and no desert. 5 when i made the reservation i noted that is was someones birthday which was not even mentioned. 6 we ordered side dishes that we had to ask for twice, like nobody was listening this was one of my favorite places . but i would NEVER go back on a weekend. very disappointed in the service and attention we did not get
Insignia is a special-occasion place, and our visit was no exception. Our waiter went out of his way to make sure that we truly enjoyed celebrating our anniversary. Insignia is expensive, but for those times that call for throwing the budget out the window, it's worth it.
The food and service was wonderful. Our waiters Glenn and Joe were attentive and knowledgeable, From food recommendations to the wine list. We were there on a Thursday night and there was music. I could see some people saying that it would be a bit loud, but we enjoyed it.
We came for a birthday celebration. Our table was ready in time. We had a baby with us so we were seated towards the back, he was excellent and our table was perfect. The service and food were both excellent. With this all said , it is very expensive . Yes I was aware the restaurant was "pricy" ... but it is truly excessive!
I was very disappointed with the “Branzino”. This was filleted in the dining room “table side”. My wife was immediately concerned as she watched the waiter attempt to fillet the fish with instruments that appeared to be cake servers, not knives. Her concerns were soon realized when the first four (4) forkfuls of the fish contained numerous fish bones. At that point my wife lost her appetite. We did express to the wait staff our concerns with the meal however it seemed to be of little concern to them. The response from the waiter was “ well I did the best I could”. We have always had positive experiences at Insignia, this however was not one of those times.
