I live in Florida and had visited the restaurant in October of 2016, and was truly impressed with the service and food. During our recent visit to New York City to see our son and his wife, we wanted to take them to a special restaurant. We knew the drive was far, but based on our prior experience we thought it was worth it. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. Lets start by the service which was mediocre at best. Our server was not very pleasant, not helping her was the attire worn which was not appealing. I don't mind the ladies wearing a tie, but at least give them a jacket that is fitted and different from the men. Our waiter's assistant, which was pleasant, broke the candle light on the table by accident and then went missing until the end of the night. My wife ordered a lobster bisque which was ok, not worth the $18. We ordered mash potatoes and french fries as family style sides. The mash tasted like if they were made from flakes and the family style serving was literally a spoonful for each one of us. The fries were a considerable family style serving but again lacked in freshness that would be expected from this restaurant, truly tasted like frozen fries. We all ordered filet mignons, which were cooked to perfection, too bad that the sides were not. When it came to dessert our server simply asked if we wanted any without even promoting any options. She also seemed rather annoyed when we asked for an espresso. Two completely different experiences between 2016 and 2018. Would surely not make the 1.5 hour drive again.
Place was beautiful. Very luxurious and over the top. Food was very good. Service was attentive, professional and not at all imposing. Had oysters, crab cocktail and octopus salad for starters. Octopus salad was small, not really too exciting and missing acidity. Oysters were small in size but big on flavor. Crab cocktail was very good. Cold crisp and fresh tasting. Moving on to entree, we shared a porter house steak for two. Incredible. Cooked to perfection, charred crust and packed with flavor. Sides were sautéed spinach with garlic and truffle Mac and cheese. Both delicious. Both totally consumed. Wines were recommended and were spot on. Sauvignon Blanc for appetizers and Malbec from Argentina with dinner. Dessert was 6 layer chocolate cake with a praline crust. Need I say more. Delicious. Overall service was great. Our servers Brie and Joe were excellent. Loved the ambiance. Screamed of decadence and luxury. Food was good enough to match. Service put it over the top for me, and I am not easily swayed or wooed. Great place, good food, good drinks and attentive service. Bill was $288. Not cheap but not crazy either for two people with drinks, three apps and steak entree plus dessert. I will be back for sure.
We dined at Insignia to celebrate our 35th anniversary. Excellent sushi appetizer, wedge salad and filet mignon. Also great were the stuffed shrimp and grilled artichokes.
Our server Brianna was excellent and the complimentary dessert wine was a nice touch. Perfect spot for a special celebration.
Food was ok. Blackstone’s is better.
The food was delicious. The filet mignon was one of the best I have ever had. Of course, the place is expensive but probably in line with other top tier steak houses. The only negative was that the noise level was much too loud. We could not hear the person who was across the table from us.
The staff was accommodating and terrific. Our first table was windblown and short one setting. The room where we were moved to was very noisy and near a wedding. The Caesar salad was excellent. The side dishes were excellent. The 5 layer chocolate cake was excellent. The piece of filet mignon was excellent but was not seasoned properly. Others in our group had no complaints.
This was probably the tenth time we have eaten in Insignia. To their credit, the rib eye bone in steak was delicious, and the servers were polite, courteous and friendly. What I did not like was that level of noise made casual conversation difficult. Lastly, Insignia keeps raising the price on their steaks to levels that I think are pushing the envelope.
Disappointing Porterhouse for 2- very little ‘taste’..quite a bit grizzly...almost As if chef forgot to season at all.
Service was good if a bit rushed
Oysters and Kani salad outstanding
It was early but still very loud-tables for 2 are almost like an afterthought.
Prefer Tellers or Prime-totally different experience and flavors
Very enjoyable evening. Great service from Joe the somonier was fantastic, very knowledgeable and enlightening about wines. Brie, our waitress was very attentive and kind in acknowledging our special occasion with a flaring candle and congratulations! Wonderful experience. One note, the bar music was overwhelming/ overtaking the ambience of dinner. Even in a private booth location. Will return to Insignia !
My 50th Birthday
Service was lack luster. It wasn’t bad but definitely not good. Ordered wagu steak and part was Unedible. Have been here before and enjoyed the meal and service. Definitely did not this time. It was just ok.
Overall we had a nice dinner. Bone in fillet was impeccable this time around. Cooked to perfection medium rare plus. I’ve had my fair share of steaks at the biggest chains and this is definitely up there (consistency is not always there though). Sushi was great I got the tornado roll. Everything is a little over-priced in my opinion, the ambiance is the main attraction here while the food is also very good.
While certainly pricey, the food was delicious and the staff very professional, friendly and helpful.
Was a nice birthday dinner for my wife with our family. Food was amazing . Service was slow which was a little disappointing but the staff was friendly .
Porterhouse was dry and over priced. Octopus was so so. Service was great but despite not being busy was put on outer deck that was open and very bright...not insignia or blackstone usual style. For the amount of money we spent, not worth it.
Prices are that of a classy upscale restaurant but does not provide the atmosphere. Very noisy with bar & DJ right next to main dining room which made very noisy. Definitely not an upscale romantic dinner which we wanted as we celebrated our Anniversary Although food and service were good not worth the price. Will not return.
Amazing food. Great atmosphere. Excellent service. Was not disappointed
excellent service was great it was my 60th birthday out with friends / brought over a drink for all of us
Our waiter Rob was amazing. He explained everything very thoroughly from the menu and his recommendations were incredible
We have gone to Insignia many times. The Sunday special is a favorite of ours since it is a great value. It is a upscale restaurant with a pricetag to match. We can always count on a great meal when we entertain our family and friends.
Food was excellent
I had to change my reservation they accommodated me with no problem
Service was superior
Insignia always lives up to its 5 star reputation. Food, ambiance and service is superb. The seafood is extremely fresh and the steaks were moist and tender. The prices are quite high, so I have to consider this a place for special occasions.
Our first time dining here. Steak was under cooked but overall the meal was ok. Service was great & made us feel relaxed & welcomed. A veteran's discount would be great incentive to return.
An excellent late night steakhouse but on Easter Sunday, at 3pm on a beautiful sunny day, all the drapes were closed and it was dark and unappealing interior. During the day, light should fill the restaurant as it does the bar area. Felt like we were in a Vegas Casino. Very disappointing atmosphere.
This ace was amazing from.the food to the staff. It was the perfect date night. I asked them to do something special for me and my fiance and they really did make her night I appreciate it to everyone there thank you so much.
Nice restaurant but it is very pricey for what it is. I think their related restaurant, Blackstone in Melville is woth the cost where Insignia is not.
The overall experience was very good. But a few matters of concern.
It started with a table of overly loud group. It’s fine to enjoy but not when it infringes on others dining also.
Then we had to go and get assistance as someone decided to light a cigar and proceed to smoke it until he was told to put it out.
As we were getting ready to wrap up our evening, the bill arrived, we paid it and included a 50.00 discount card. The manager came over and rejected it, saying we couldn’t combine it with the 50% off bottles of 150.00 or more.
We enjoyed 2 bottles of exceptional wine, with an excellent meal, only to bring told it wasn’t valid because of the wine credit !!!
We want you to know how offensive and bitter we left your establishment, having spent close to $ 700.00 for dinner
I doubt we’ll be returning anytime soon, if at all.
Not sure why you offer the discount and then say only one offer.
We feel penalized for spending on wines over 150.00 and then being told the voucher was not going to be applied to our bill
Dined at insignia for a friends birthday. Was wowed not only by the food but by all members of staff. Servers Dorothy and Ross were professional and personable. 2 managers on duty, Chris and Emir, visited my table to check up. Made my guest and I feel very important. Porterhouse steak for two was tremendous! It was so delicious that we had no problem finishing it. We also decided to have dessert which, even though we were full, had no problem finishing. Highly recommend for any occasion.
An amazing restaurant. Would recommend it to everyone.
We went for the Sunday night surf and turf, which we’ve probably done 6 times over the last few years (although at Blackstone) and was disappointed this time. Steak was still great, but sides were smaller and lobster was minuscule. Even at $59/person, it’s still $150 meal without cocktails. Two small salads, 1 steak, 1 skimpy lobster, a baked potato, small spinach, 2 desserts. Idk if it’s worth a buck fifty.
May consider somewhere else next time.
An overly expensive place in which the steak wasn't even steakhouse level good. There was nothing "bad' per se, except the prices. They legitimately quoted one of the specials at 140 bucks. My lord, i would need to be made out of unicorn or something to be worth that price.
The tap list was ok at best, mostly macro - but including the blue point/ballast point end of macro. The meals did not include any sides - you have to pay 8-15 dollars extra for those. Two people cost nearly $250. No thanks.
It was a great overall experience , even though we waited 50 minutes for a table and our reservation was at 9pm
We had reservations for 8:30 and did not get seated until 9:45. Not a good experience
Very nice night would come back again live close to prime so go there
Service was slow.Water glasses were dirty.Menu choices were limited for a Saturday night (who runs out of lobster tails by 7:30 PM?).Steak was fine but nothing special.Valet lost our keys. This place has taken a step back.
The service from our waiters was wonderful, the two gentleman named, Steve and Sean were both so polite and amazing at their jobs. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time and the food was outstanding ! We will be back soon !
Appetizers were good, steak was tough, not really editable, a shame, we paid a lot of money for that steak. Dessert was good. Would never order a steak there again.
We had a great night! This is the second time we have been to insignia within the month and have not been disappointed! We had Caitlyn and Joey and they were an amazing team! Michael the bartender made amazing drinks and knew a lot about the Scotto restaurants as a whole!
Great pm - thx
