We went for the Thanksgiving buffet and it was very good. There was a fresh salad bar with plenty of variety, cheeses, breads, fresh fruit, hot entrees and sides, carving stations and a wide selection of tasty desserts. We were very pleased with everything. You definitely felt like you were in a hotel restaurant, with the cheesy elevator music to accompany, but it was all pleasant. Our server was kind although not extremely attentive and I felt a little rushed when looking over the bill. There was a 21% gratuity included on the bill. It wasn't pointed out by the server.
We went for Thanksgiving brunch. Food was excellent. There was a great appetizer table and salad bar with a great selection of cheeses ,shrimp, smoked salmon and vegetables. Hot bar had turkey, ham and salmon with all the sides. There was a large selection of desserts in manageable sizes so you could try a variety. A $18 tip was added to our bill which I think was a lot considering this was buffet.
We went to Innovation on a date night and didn't want to leave the west side. We found Innovation on Open Table and decided to give it a try. My pasta dish was just okay. The sauce didn't go with the noodles or vegetables within the dish. My husband ordered a hamburger. The server asked how he wanted it cooked and he said medium. It came well done. Don't ask unless you can make it as requested. Beer was good, wings were good and our waitress was very attentive and friendly. If you want a night of beer and appetizers, it could be a nice place to hang out at the bar. The more expensive dishes, and it was in the $$ range, were not worth it.
Pleasant spot for a business breakfast. Easy access and nicely appointed. Wonderful server - she was bright, friendly, personable, and helpful. Food was reasonable, but a bit pricey for the quality. One thing that gets a high mark from me is they had soy milk for coffee!! Would happily have business meeting here again.
After such an excellent experience at Innovation for Easter brunch, my family was in town from Illinois and wanted to return for Sunday brunch (Memorial Day Weekend). I made the reservation on OpenTable, which offered me two slots, 10:45am or 1:30pm; I took the 1:30 so everyone could sleep in. When we called the next afternoon to let the hostess know we were running 10 minutes behind, we were informed for the first time that brunch ended at 2pm and food would not be replenished. Needless to say my outspoken family was all but pleased. We high tailed it over, assuming we'd be rushed, and thought we'd just grab as many plates as we could. Not what we had planned for a relaxing day. My Aunt was pretty vocal thatOpenTable should not accept reservations 30 mins before close of a buffet, without informing patrons. I agree.
My anxiety grew as I saw my whole plan for a nice meal with my family about to go off the rails, (and I have seen my family in action when things don't go well when we're out to eat) . . .but, then we met Nancy.
She made us feel welcomed, apologized for the confusion on the online reservation system (apparently Easter times are still on Open Table) and put us at ease so we wouldn't feel rushed. She and Tamika saved the day. Not only did she attend to our needs, even hand delivering a dessert cart of goodies to our table, but I kid you not, she even carved the Prime Rib for us.
I have worked in the industry for 20+ years, and Nancy is living proof that the right employee can turn any situation into a positive one. She will keep us coming back again and again. She knows what service, attention to detail and taking care of the customers are all about. She is an asset to any team, and I hope you know what a great champion of your business you have. Visited Innovation for their Mother's Day brunch.
Check-in was confusing and redundant (had to check in to pay and then wait in a line to present tickets I was given after paying).
Service was terrible. Our server never explained anything to us, and given there was food all throughout different rooms, we had no idea what was where. She didn't offer us the fact that mamosas and champgagne was included. After she delivered our water, she knocked one over on the couch side of the table, wiped it, didn't offer a new table or address it in any way. We had to ask someone else for chairs to all sit on the other side. After that, she never came back. I was REQUIRED to pay 18% and that is a joke.
Regarding the food, it was average to poor. There was duplicate stations with the same thing, they were not the same, some were dried out, others were good. Prime rib was beyond rare. I mean raw. Plates were missing on some of the stations. Champagne and mamosas were being prepared on the bar and sitting there, but apparently they were not for you to take as they looked to be, for the servers. Confusing.
Ambience...they were blairing only what I can recall as "Musak". You know it's a hotel, feels like a hotel.
Value..... not great, but ok for adults, but kids were $17.95. My kids ate about $4 in food each.
This was not impressive and I would never return and never recommend.
We've eaten here many times but I think this was the best. I think they have improved the food! We went for the Friday Fish Fry. Fried cod was cooked just right, green beans were a nice add and of course the salad bar was the best! The clam chowder soup was a little on the thick side but we love it so much anyway!
We are frequent customers for Innovation's Friday lunch buffet which includes excellent fried and baked fish, lots of salad options, delicious potato pancakes and even dessert. Their hot vegetables are always crisp and tasty. We consider ourselves foodies, eat out frequently in both Milwaukee and Chicago, and we love this buffet. Our usual server Paul is wonderful-- attentive without being intrusive, always pleasant, and quick to anticipate needs.
The Thanksgiving buffet had delicious carved turkey and beef featured, with traditional sides and salads. Everything tasted very good. However it seemed over-priced, especially with no desserts offered. It was buffet style but 18% tip was added to bill, for very little service- dirty plates were taken once and water was never refilled. I enjoy the restaurant's regular menu but would pass on the buffet in the future.
Not a lot of options for brunch, so I went with the Buffet for $14 (not work it) and my pal went with the Breakfast Burrito (was fairly typical). Innovation was a decent choice since it was open fairly early and located in the hotel, but not much else. Do not go here expecting to have a nice brunch, go here out of necessity of having to satisfy your hunger in a hurry.
Innovation was a nice place. The best thing they had to offer was the Clam Chowder soup, and the all you can eat salad bar. The fish was not seasoned well. It was bland. The customer service was great. Dabrasha was wonderful, and really catered to us while there. We tipped her well for the service.
We were given a gift certificate to Innovation. We looked at the menu on line and it looked really good.
When we arrived there was only 1 other person in the dining room, it was Memorial weekend. There was no music playing so all we could hear were the cooks in the kitchen talking.
I am gluten intolerant and the only thing on the menu that was recommended was seafood, which I don't eat. I opted for the pork chop without the sauce, it was slightly overdone. My husband had Lamb Bolognese. It came out looking like hamburger helper and tasted the same. We both thought Bolognese would be a red meat sauce, this was off white.
Their beverage menu also had a hard lemonade listed as a gluten free option, one taste told me it was not. I looked it up on line to confirm my suspicion, it was a fruit beer.
Our waiter was very attentive and worked hard to make our time enjoyable.
We were very surprised a Crowne Plaza would have such a mediocre at best restaurant.
We would not recommend Innovation.
After ordering, our appetizer was delivered in a timely manner. However, it took a half hour to get our entrees with no explanation.
Our waitress was clearly not on the same page as the others, as they were providing their patrons great attention and service, and all of them came in after us.
I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but we will never eat there again.
We have come often to Innovation, but this past time was exceptional. Our waitress, Megan, was attentive yet not in our way. She did an excellent job in taking care of us. As always, the selection was fresh and tasty. Omelettes are way too good -- with a nice selection of ingredients.
Great Friday Fish Fry!! All you can eat includes salad bar and Clam Chowder for $12.95. The fish batter is deliciously flavorful and crispy. The potatoe pancakes are worth a try - I recommend you ask for them a tad crispier if you can. We went at 7:00 P.M., which was right after the main rush of people, so service was fast and friendly.
We stopped in for the Friday Night Fish Fry. Well my wife and I ordered the baked Cod and the top was so rubbery you could not cut it with a fork and the inside was very mushy. Meaning it was cooked way before we ordered it and then was being kept warm for who know how long. When the waitress asked if I wanted more fish, I told here that if I wanted more I would eat my wife's fish since she did not like it at all. The waitress said "oh OK". She never inquired why my wife did not like it or offered to get her anything else. The green beans were good and the Market fresh bar was good, but not much on it. Can't say anything about the Fried Fish, it might have been good because I think they were fixing that to order. I did not rate this on overall menu, but just baked cod on the Friday Fish Fry. The rest of the menu may be better.
