We visited Barley Sheaf for dinner this past weekend and loved it . Appetizers, entrees and dessert were all prepared well. The service was great! My dad actually said the whole experience was just as good, if not better, than a Michelin star restaurant we recently visited on vacation. I’d definitely recommend.

It was my birthday and my husband choose elegant and quiet, which is what I like. The service was impeccable, thanks to our waiter, Pat (I think). He gave me excellent suggestions about the food. I like duck, and it was perfect. Looking forward to going back.

A wonderful spot for a special brunch with friends! Loved that it was BYOB which allowed for the mimosas to keep flowing through the entire time. Very well timed service that never made us feel rushed or neglected and we were there for about 2 hours. Would definitely recommend for a fun brunch with close friends.

Service as usual is amazing. Our waiter Patrick always makes our experience very special. Chef Joshua is always creative and each dish is a wonderful masterpiece. The owners make sure your evening is going well. Love this place and it’s worth the 1 1/2 hour drive!

My wife and I had a wonderful meal here recently on a Friday night. The food was fantastic and the experience was well augmented by the gracious service. Most of the ingredients were locally sourced, but I strayed a little farther for my entree at the suggestion of our server. I had the Iberico pork loin which may have been the most tender meat I have ever eaten.

We will we definitely go back.

We have dined here several times and it’s always a treat. Very creative food with many well-balanced flavors that compliment each other. Staff was efficient and helpful when asked to elaborate on certain entrees. Barley Sheaf is a special place to dine whatever the occasion. BYOB is a plus!

From the moment you walk in and are greeted by the most friendly and kind host you will ever meet, to the genuine service (thanks Presley), and ending with the super talented chefs...this place is a must for any celebration. Cost is on the high side, but this is when it is worth it as the food is superb.

I have eaten here many times, and the food never disappoints. The selection isn't large, but there is always something interesting to try. Salmon is not a staple on the menu, but when they do it as a special, they really do it right. I had salmon poached in olive oil. It was unbelievably good. Their octopus appetizer is always great, and the chef changes up the way he preps it every so often, which is appreciated.

We have eaten there many times and keep coming back. The place is just beautiful and all the people there are wonderful. The food is excellent and I like that the portions are appropriate. You leave comfortably full. Also, BYOB is definitely a plus to keeping the cost down.

My wife and I completely and totally enjoyed our Brunch, our server Paul was a perfect waiter and a very good at explaining any and all questions put to him. He discussed with us the origins and founding of the restaurant/bed and breakfast plus all the amenities that are offered.
This is a hidden gem that should be tried by any and all foodies or those just looking for a quiet getaway away from the crowds.

We celebrated our 15th Anniversary with dinner at The Barley Sheaf Inn. The entire experience could not have been more perfect. Patrick provided on-point service with humor. We enjoyed a genuine conversation with Mark, the owner (best wishes for your daughter's wedding this weekend!). Every bite that exited the kitchen was well-thought out and exquisitely prepared. The flavor pairings, fresh ingredients, portions and plating were all perfect. If you have not tried The Barley Sheaf, I highly recommend it... you won't be disappointed. We'll be returning to try the brunch sometime soon!

It all felt very special from the moment we walked into the inn. It reminded me of any 5 star restaurant experience I have had in my home city, NYC, without the NYC 5 star prices, although not inexpensive. This is very unusual for the area and we were so happy to have discovered it. Mark is owner and apparently keeps everything running smoothly and professionally in a warm and friendly manner. We planned a regular night out, but instead had a very special experience. The food, the service, the space all fantastic. I feel this is a place we will continue to come back to time and again. Thank you Mark and team!

This is my second brunch this month. I went with my husband this time and we were both very impressed with the attentive staff (Patrick is a gem) that encourages you to take your time and never rushes you, delicious and creative farm-to-table dishes. I hope the sausage & gravy never goes off the menu; it is to die for. We brought our own prosecco and the staff provided fresh-squeezed orange juice for mimosas. The brunch also includes an unlimited selection of second courses, and they encourage you to not only order more, but also join them for dinner. Brunch is a great value. As soon as we got home, we booked a reservation for dinner...we can't wait. The grounds are beautiful and I had brought along some carrots to feed to the mini horses in the back pasture.

Service, atmosphere and food were outstanding. The only improvement I would suggest is that the portions were way too small and should be increased.

Food was excellent. Wait time to sit was long even after making a week in advance reservation. Food took a long time and it seemed unclear initially who was assigned our table. Patrick was excellent as our server after he was assigned to us. Quaint atmosphere, very friendly staff and again food was excellent.

From the cordial greeting at which the host removed our wine to be chilled at the table, to our lovely seating in the Dining Room, we knew we were in good hands. Our waiter Pat, carefully explained the menu. Each course was beautifully presented. I began with foie gras over a strawberry granola served with a small pitcher of hot milk to be poured over all. It was delightful, a lovely medley of flavors, crunch and surprises in every bite. We all chose the lobster tails, served out of the shell, attractively plated with carrot puree and fava beans.
Must return again on a special occasion.

This is our second time here, leaving you with a feeling like you can't wait to go back. Note the only reason I did not give the "VALUE" category 5 Stars, is that sides are a separate charge. You may not need a side, given a particular dish, however.
Our server this evening was Pressley, and she was courteous, warm, and efficient.
Courses we enjoyed were a special salad offering of the night (Beets & Strawberries), Octopus, Foie Gras, Lamb, and King Salmon. Everything was simply outstanding.

Again, the owners are visible, active, and very engaging. They work to their credit.
Lodging is available here, also.
