Tucked away and very nice ambiance. I went in nice jeans and golf shirt and felt totally comfortable with others there. Service was great with Pat - and as a BYOB, it makes the price come out very reasonable for exceptional dining.
We were celebrating a birthday so we wanted something special. The bread that was placed on the table was not all the way cooked so we asked for new bread. My husband ordered the salad and there was no dressing on it. His hanger steak was cold. I ordered the duck. It was a bit chewy. Not very impressed. The chocolate pudding cake was very good. The atmosphere was delightful.
Our favorite special occasion restaurant. The place is so beautiful. We love the food and the attentive wait staff.
Had brunch to celebrate friend’s birthday and couldn’t be more pleased. The food was amazing, creative and mainly local. The service was incredible. Our server, Pat, was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming. He encouraged us to take our time and really wanted us to have a pleasant experience. He even showed us the new banquet barn. And the ambiance just doesn’t get any better. We are already planning dinner.
As always the service is #1, the food is fantastic, and this season Fois Gras is to die for, very different and delicious.
Our Anniversary dinner with dear friends. Everything was perfect. I have to mention the Foi Gras it is possibly the best I have ever had. Thank you for a lovely evening. The Skiltons
Mona, Mark, and Deena could not have been more gracious as we celebrated my parents' 68th wedding anniversary. As always, Chef Josh made every mouthful a delicious experience. Barley Sheaf makes each occasion in our family something special.
The best food in the area, no competition
This is a special place with wonderful food consistently. I have never been disappointed.
Very nice brunch- delicious- great views- going back for sure!
Delicious brunch options! The beef bavette was fantastic
Will go back
As always, the plates were as beautiful as they were gourmet! Excellent ingredient pairings; the chef is so very talented! Staff were friendly and attentive!!! All around it was an excellent night out!!!
An overall excellent experience
We had a fabulous meal. The beef tartar was outstanding. My husband started with the gnocchi special which was very delicious and very rich. We both had octopus as a second course and the seasoning was unique and delicious. It was some of the best octopus we have had. I had the striped bass special which was also perfectly done and excellent. My husband had the short rib special with seasonal ramps and mushrooms The short ribs melted in your mouth, the ramps were divine, and the mushroom was delicious. We finished with the chocolate torte desert which was also very good. The sweets assortment from the house was also excellent as were the cinnamon glazed donuts we were sent home with. I can't wait to go back for another meal!
As always, we had a wonderful evening! The food is outstanding, creative & always delicious! It’s our favorite restaurant - like dining in an elegant home.
Really enjoyed, unique menu. Kinda fun that a wedding was going on across the way, downside was tough to park, and since it was raining, muddy parking.
Always a favorite. If you haven’t yet, you must. Intimate dining experience but not stuffy. Creative menu that never fails to impress.
Their Sunday brunch is also a favorite.
Amazing food and service. Truly a class act all around. Can’t wait to return.
Our dinner was delicious. We love coming here and this is our fourth time. We love the open kitchen and watching the chef and team create artful food.
Beautiful spot in lovely Bucks County. Owners are so nice and always present. Food is fabulous! The lamb and halibut were superb. Still thinking about the food and wishing I had more!
Service was good. Can’t wait to return.
The Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm had been on my radar for quite some time. I had read nothing but good about the restaurant there. It also has 16 rooms. Beautiful property sitting on 16 acres.
We were greeted by the owner, Mark, a had a little welcoming chat with him. His wife, Deena, came over, and ushered my wife to our table, while I continued to talk with Mark. He was most gracious and giving of his time. I finally joined my wife at our table.
Our primary servers for the evening were Carol and Donna, with a little help from Pressley (I think that was her name - could have been Paisley). The servers are warm and friendly, with not an aire of pretense.
The smells coming from the kitchen magnificent, making it difficult to choose from the menu, because you simply want it all.
I decided to open with their mixed greens salad. There is nothing on the menu that allows you to know how good this simple salad is, with how it's built by the kitchen. My wife had an old favorite of pea soup with ham hocks, et al. For a second course we had an octopus dish and the scallops dish. They were both outstanding. Entrees included a Guinea Hen and an addition to the menu this evening was the striped bass that I had. Again, outstanding dishes. I ordered a side of heirloom carrots ($7.00). They melted in your mouth, but they were also the reason I only awarded 4 stars to the value category. I'm not a big fan of restaurants who feel the need the charge for side dishes. I would much rather pay a little bit more for an entree that includes a vegetable or other side. That being said, I ordered a most unique dessert. It was Pistachio Financier. I asked our server about the dessert offerings and I thought she would have chosen one of the other desserts, but she loved this dessert and so did I.
In closing, the owners do a fantastic job here, up to and including clearing and resetting tables. they are most gracious and forthright. We will return for sure.
Barley Sheaf Fram is a lovely country location. The restaurant is not large but more than sufficient. The kitchen is visible from the dining room, which I like. The ingredients are fresh. The presentation is excellent and service friendly and prompt. Being a BYOW is also nice and the wine is opened and proper glasses presented quickly. The small complimentary sweets at the end of the meal are lovely and the "take home donut" is delicious and welcome with my morning coffee. We will definitely be regulars!
Patrick was very knowledgeable and took great care of us. Wonderful menu choices.
Dinner exceeded our expectations, not withstanding an amazing, positive, review by a prominent Philadelphia restaurant reviewer. Our visit coincided with some vacation time by the executive chef. The sous chef, and his staff prepared amazing dishes for all four of us that night. To me, that says all you need to know about the kitchen staff at Barley Sheaf Farm!
This is a first class restaurant. Beautiful setting, wonderful service and delicious food. Great place to celebrate a special occasion.
This was not our first time at the Inn at Barley Sheaf and for sure, it won’t be our last. Another wonderful evening in a great setting. Food was outstanding and service perfect. Thank you all !
After reading a published review, my husband and I decided to celebrate his birthday @ Barley Sheaf. Despite the rainy weather, we were able to appreciate the beautiful grounds. I was taken by the beautiful sky, bird, and butterfly painting on the ceiling and beams of the main dining room.
The menu was creative and appropriately descriptive of its selections. Our server was pleasant and friendly. Perhaps it's indicative of the "latest" in BYO serving techniques; while the first glass of our wine was poured, neither our server nor the bus staff offered to refill our glasses later in the meal.
We were presented with a delicious home made bread with flavored butter when our wine was poured. The basket was not refilled.
I enjoyed my octopus appetizer, and found the striped bass special entrée tasty, but would have preferred less salt on the entrée. My husband had the pate' appetizer - an "unusual" pairing of a (sweet) granola with pate'. In hindsight, he wished he had selected another appetizer. While correctly described and nicely presented, it was not to his liking. His entrée was the rabbit dish, which we both enjoy (and cook) at home. The medallions were cooked appropriately and nicely presented, but nothing "special".
We shared our tasty chocolate pudding pie for dessert.
We were offered the opportunity to sit in front of the open kitchen and happily chose to do so. We wish we hadn't. The staff did not wear gloves as they handled the food; they frequently used their hands or shirt sleeves to wipe the perspiration from their faces and did not wash their hands after doing so. Wiping cloths were not changed after each dish. We watched a woman working in the kitchen touch her nose with her ungloved, long, turquoise polished fingers, and then continue with her food prep.
We may have given the kitchen a second chance, but will not do so, due to the lackadaisical attitude towards kitchen hygiene.
The food was amazing, the server was attentive and on point. The entire meal and experience was exceptional.
i simply LUUUUV this place! Had a hard week so i knew that dining here would make it ALL better!!!!! food, presentation, attention, ambiance and everything else is P-E-R-F-E-C-T! You will not be rushed so enjoy this wonderful meal that you will have!!! Each time we dine here, the menu offers new things and i will say that the chef is THE BEST THING EVER TO HAPPEN TO BARLEY SHEAF! i do hope he stays forever!!!!!!!!!
My second visit. Beautiful grounds, elegant service. I was seated in the room to the left when you enter. It was too warm for me. It was adressed, but still warm. Normally, we are the oldest couple in the restaurant. Here we might have been the youngest. Building on this theme the menu was certainly interesting. I would describe the food as low in flavor, certainly low in pizzazz. If you imagine a very high end retirement home this is the dining room.
I would return for the elegance.
Everything was wonderful, from the moment we walked into the restaurant until the moment we left. Everything bite of food was delicious. The service was outstanding. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.
The chef’s use of herbs and other condiments is purposeful and devoted to adding interesting flavors to the main ingredient. The service is attentive and informative. The setting is a delightful country home with a Broadway connection.
Wonderful experience. Excellent service. Really enjoy the food, presentation, and choices. Always something new to try every time we go. Always enjoy how they prepare the food with their take on the recipe. They have really done a fantastic job.
Sunday Brunch done in a personalized, relaxed, attentive style. Food choices were consistently outstanding, and the perfect portion size. Engaged server and owner, and historic setting made it a memorable experience. The Inn at Barley Sheaf... a pleasant surprise and now on our ‘A’ list.
It was amazing from start to finish. Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive staff, and food that exceeds expectations at every turn.
Wonderful evening with fabulous food, attentive but not annoying service & some unexpected goodies at the end. A real gem in Bucks County!!!!!
Loved the atmosphere and the service was impeccable. The food was a mixed bag. We loved the beef carpaccio app and the tomato bisque, but my 2 dinner guests didn't enjoy their mains. The lobster tails were called overcooked and mushy, and the porchetta was fatty to the point of being inedible. My waygu steak was amazing however. Really enjoyed it. For the price of 35 plus dollars per main dish, you have to be disappointed with less than an excellent dinner and my guests were.
We had Brunch on a beautiful Sunday and had a wonderful meal. Cannot wait to return again.
