Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm Ratings and Reviews
We have been to Barley Sheaf many times over the past year and are always delighted by the food. The owners are very welcoming people.
The takeaway donuts provide a lovely reminder of a special evening the night before when savored over morning coffee.
A very special place if not so “hidden” anymore.
Fantastic! The setting is charming, the people are extremely nice and the food is fabulous! From the 1st course to the last (don't pass on the desserts!) everything tastes Great and gets high style points for presentation of each dish. We have found our new favorite place!
we had a wonderful bruch at the inn at barley sheaf. comfortable seats at white linen table.. great coffee service. had duck and beef with mashed potatoes and garlic. superb duck leg with figs and great carrot cake for dessert. fresh baked chocolate croissants!!!!!
First time here as we are new to Bucks County, and it will certainly not be our last time. The brunch was phenomenal, with fantastic, attentive service and every course was delicious. The bottomless brunch has nicely sized portions for sharing but still not so large as you can't enjoy multiple courses. We can't wait until summer when we can enjoy the outdoor patio. Bravo Barley Sheaf Farm!
We had a lovely dinner for my birthday. The food & service was excellent. I just wish we could have seen the beautiful setting during daylight hours & learn about it’s intriguing history. Parking spot was a bit muddy from all the rain. Overall, we had an outstanding experience & will return. Highly recommend.
Beautiful place! Food was terrific, seriously could not have been better... and when you are full and ready to leave, they give you homemade donuts for later😍😍our waiter Pat was great. We can’t wait to try for dinner sometime soon... congrats barley sheaf- job well done!
Coming to Barley Sheaf is our mini vacation. From the time you drive up the long tree-lined driveway, to the time you enter the stone home that hosts the restaurant, you feel like you're just a little bit away from the everyday.
We've always loved it, since discovering it years ago. But recently, more menu options have been added, making it our 'go to' place to unwind from a busy week.
The cuisine is imaginative, well prepared and well served. You'll likely find something familiar, but with a twist of ingredients that make it special. The menu changes seasonally, so do check their website for updates.
The owner(s) are on premises, which ensures an impeccable experience. Can you tell we love it? Yes, we do.
Our second visit to Barley Sheaf did not disappoint. We drove 1 1/2 hours to stay overnight & have a special birthday dinner. I started with the crab salad special-yummm! He had the onion tartlet appetizer..think onion soup in a pastry! For our main course, he had the scallops, I had the filet. Everything was delicious! From the open kitchen to the professional, unobtrusive service, it's a romantic yet interesting meal. The morning brunch is equally great. I can't wait to return!
This is our third visit to Barley Chef this year. Each visit has offered us a new and different menu. We love to try different foods and the chef always has new items on the menu using delicious seasonal foods. The staff here is wonderful and treats customers beautifully. We are looking forward to another visit soon!
A gem of a restaurant in Bucks County. One of the best Sunday brunches we have ever experienced. Food was creative and delicious but not pretentious. Mark and his wife, owners, source much of their food from local farmers and producers. Mark also is always on the restaurant floor, watching over the meal and engaging in witty comments with patrons, which makes you feel as if you are at home with friends. But the ambiance of this 1740s field stone farmhouse, brilliantly restored, takes you back in the history of this region, when General Washington might have passed by this farm on York Road on his way to the battle of Brandywine. There is much to see to see and experience in addition to the fine food here. My daughter loved the place so much that she wants to get married there.
Reserve a table early because this place is getting hard to get into.
The Inn was very quaint and cozy. Having just moved to the area, we were thrilled to have this gem less than 2 miles away. The managers were there to greet us, take our coats and offer us a seat in the parlor to enjoy some charcuterie while we waited for our table. As this was a home at some point in the past, it is divided into rooms, with 2-3 tables in each for diners. We happened to be seated in a room that had a group of 6 dining, so they were a little louder than I would have liked, but it did not take away too much from the ambience. The staff was very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was very good, pricey, but worth it for a special occasion. We walked away with full bellies and complimentary homemade candies and house made donuts- delicious! We will be back for sure.
Fabulous Brunch as always at this gem. Consistently superior in all respects. We have been enjoying "Barley Sheaf " for the past 4-5 years for both their weekend Brunch and Special Occasion Dinners and have never been disappointed. Service has been attentive but not oppressive, food always exceptional and the setting serene. With their recent high national ranking it is important to reserve ahead because they fill available reservations quickly.
Was seated away from the open kitchen and in the corner where there is a large island. The staff was drying and putting away glassware, plates and utensils. The noise from the utensils was at moments fairly ridiculous - it only lasted a few minutes so we just "waited it out". Had it recurred again I would've politely said something to the waiter. Just sort of a rookie error for such an otherwise very polished operation. Food was on the whole very good. Octopus was the best I've ever had - a triumph in itself. I will return just for the octopus.
The Barley Sheaf Farm Restaurant is a unique place to dine. The grounds are very pretty and the restaurant is adorable and cheerful. The menu items are delicious and unique, but limited selections. The servers are very attentive and knowledgeable, so ask about the different choices. My husband and I have had special dinners here and I have had brunch with a group of girl friends. We all enjoy it!
