Chef Greg Vassos' new culinary home became our next must-dine destination. My husband and I have LONG been fans of arguably the BEST chef in the region, following him like groupies because we absolutely adore his food (and the man himself). I thoroughly enjoyed my Caramelized Onion Velouté first course, while my husband was drawn to the duck fat roasted carrots, which were delectable. We both ordered the Spanish Octopus for our second course. The ‘Nduja (andouille) lends a sharp contrast to the octopus! Having both together made for a perfect bite. The rutabaga and blood orange bites were also sublime on the plate. For our entrees, we split: Wild Harvested Scallops for me, which I loved, and Duck Breast for my husband. Chef Vassos' duck was not only perfectly rendered, but melt-in-your-mouth prepared. I mean that literally. The parsnip puree was on its own an absolutely delightful surprise. The rye berries in the dish were a complete surprise, but WOW, they were delicious. We don't normally partake of desserts these days, but we needed to decide upon ordering if we'd want dessert, and said yes -- it was my husband's birthday, after all! We both ordered the Chocolate Crėmeux Tart with banana Bavarian crème- amazing. It was rich and decadent, flavorful and beautiful. We drove from Reading, PA to The Inn, about 67 miles each direction, because we knew that the food and the service and the destination would be special, and worthwhile. Chef Vassos NEVER disappoints!!!

Amazing Sunday brunch experience at barley sheaf! First time there and the charming, historical atmosphere did not disappoint. The 3-course brunch meal was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Will be back!

The food was fabulous. A true culinary treat. We chose a la carte and each of the four courses were over the top delicious. Our compliments to Chef Greg. Our wait person Brad's knowledge about each dish made the experience more enjoyable. Kudos to all the staff a Barley Sheaf Farm for a lovely meal.

We have been here numerous times, and the food and service have always been exceptional. That said, we thought that the new executive chef kicked it up a notch, if that's possible. Highly recommended.

Our first time here….it won’t be our last. It’s a beautiful setting; I felt like we were in France. The staff were amazing! Knowledgeable, professional and warm. Being able to see into the kitchen was fun! Can highly recommend the duck breast and halibut! I understand they tweak the menu based on locally-available ingredients !

Outstanding service & outstanding food! On par if not BETTER than most distinguished city restaurants. All four courses were phenomenal. Highly recommended. There were four of us so we ordered just about everything on menu. Perfect execution: flavors, plating, cooking. Wonderful evening.

I've always enjoyed The Inn at Barley Sheaf but hadn't been here in quite some time. With the holidays upon us, and a new Executive Chef, Greg Vassos, it was time to go again. And I'm glad to have been there. The atmosphere is always inviting, the service (Kyle was our primary waiter) was impeccable, and the food was excellent. Our party of three sat at a table with a direct view of the kitchen, which was fun to watch, and took advantage of the Chef's Tasting Menu which consisted of: Kombu Cured Hamachi Crudo, Pork Belly, Beef Tartare, Wild Harvested Scallops, Jurgielwicz Duck Breast, and a Whipped Matcha Cheesecake for desert. The only miss, for an otherwise excellent meal, was that the scallops were forgotten. When desert came out, and we asked about the scallops, the staff were very quick to apologize, offered to bring them then, offered to package them for take-home, and offered to reduce our bill. As the rest of the meal was so good, and we knew we'd be back, we asked for the credit as a gift card to be used for our next wonderful meal there. Of the aforementioned plates we sampled, the duck was spectacular, the beef tartare was good but could have had more beef versus potato. Overall, an excellent dining experience ... once again.
