Inn at Barley Sheaf Farm
Excellent service. Delicious food. Wonderful ambience. A great dining experience.
Excellent experience all around! Can’t wait to do it again!
The Barley Sheaf is a beautiful inn on a bucolic Bucks farm. The interior has potential, but needs some TLC. The reception room could be lovely, but candlesticks are askew, lightbulbs are burnt out in some wall sconces, and there is a great deal of clutter by the desks. The coat rack to the side of the room also detracts from its elegance. The dining room is also elegant, but again, needs just a little updating. The menu choices are food, and almost all sounds appetizing. The food itself is delicious, but the portion sizes were rather small for what you get. We had three courses each and could left wanting more.
Absolutely perfect experience. Food and service is top shelf. I had the elk, wife had duck, all excellently prepared by the chef who was 10' from us in open kitchen. Owner's are present to enhance your experience. BYOB
We had dinner at Barley Sheaf the day after Valentine's Day. The 1700s inn is quite a romantic setting, especially the front room where there are just a few tables for two. We were slightly early for our reservation, and were invited to sip our wine in the inn's parlor, which includes a display of memorabilia from the inn's many famous guests in the 1930s and 40s. The menu is diverse, and the food is amazing, with everything prepared on-site. I enjoyed a petit lobster tail appetizer special and duck breast entree with root vegetables and a subtle sauce that perfectly complimented the duck. My wife enjoyed a mixed green salad followed by the halibut entree with ramps and its own perfect sauce. Deserts were excellent, and were followed by a plate of selected handmade candies for each of us and a rose for my wife. The staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. Barley Sheaf does not disappoint.
Friendly. Charming. Size of portions perfect for me
I love Barley Sheaf and spending Valentine's day dining there was a treat. Food was great and Mark and Dina are incredible hosts. It's my favorite restaurant in the area.
From the moment we walked in the door our visit was incredible. We only waited about 5 minutes before we we lead to our table. Appetizers, main course and dessert were nothing short of amazing.
We had a very enjoyable experience. We celebrated birthdays. The restaurant was unpretentious, but special and romantic. The owners of the restaurant came to our table to chat with us. We enjoyed the conversation. The food is amazing! I look forward to going back to the restaurant soon!
Great romantic dinner. Very good food and service. Having the open kitchen it was a little noisy. Overall great night!
I have had the opportunity to dine at several restaurants in the area so my write up is based on my prior experience. Going to Barley my expectation was fine dining with unique ingredients and flavor. I found all 3 courses very bland. The gnocchi was not very good and the poached lobster needed seasoning. The restaurant was quant but the service not to the expected level for true fine dining. It is a nice place with caring management but not to my fine dining standards.
Perfect brunch for our group of friends! Food was amazing and service (Pat and Presley) are gracious perfection! Can’t wait for brunch again as the chef always keeps it interesting and inspiring! I am particularly impressed that we had dinner Saturday night and brunch on Sunday here and had two very different but equally amazing experiences.
Excellent! First time we had dinner there. It was an overall great experience. Food was delicious and service was perfect so very welcoming! Will definitely return!
Whole experience as wonderful as ever. The food is creative and delicious, the ambiance relaxed and elegant, the service efficient and friendly, and the owners as gracious as can be. I love this restaurant and will be back soon.
The best restaurant in Bucks Country. A great meal every time!!
Always love their brunch!
Terrific made-to-order Sunday brunch.
All was fantastic except under cooked French toast. I should have sent back but chose to eat only the crusts.
Everything was perfect. The food was incredible and service was spot on. Can’t say enough good things about our experience.
Fabulous dinner. Highly recommended!
The combination of brunch choices, the atmosphere and the leisurely pace we moved through the courses was well worth the visit. My wife and I have had brunch here several times and the experience has been great each time.
The Inn at Barley Sheaf never disappoints - their food has always been phenomenal, whether it’s dinner or brunch, it’s delicious and creative! Their ingredients are fresh and everything we have had there has been cooked perfectly, super flavorful, and unique! Their brunch is great - you pay per person and then you can order as much as you want a la carte and it’s all cooked fresh. Plus they’ll give you a complimentary mimosa or fresh OJ! The chefs do a great job getting the food out quick, and the staff are always extremely polite, quick, and hospitable. Service is always 10/10. I would recommend Barley Sheaf to everyone!
If you are a vegetarian call ahead as there are no real options. Not for vegans. Portions are small so you need to order several courses which makes it pricey. Complex flavors and small menu makes this restaurant not for the immature food palate. Eat a late lunch before you go so you are not starving.
Quiet table, Pat took great care of us, answered many questions about dietary concerns. Excellent flavorings, wonderful combinations, and great dessert!! Cannot go wrong with great chocolate with chocolate. Romantic old inn, quiet room, need to return in summer when we can see the grounds at sunset,
What a lovely spot ,
and so worth it --
worth the drive from wherever you are,
worth the slightly higher prices (but really, only slightly higher).
Everyone is cordial and inviting and accommodating,
and this young chef -- whose food we'd enjoyed when he was at Lacroix -- is super talented.
The food is fresh,
creative but never pretentious,
Despite the high level at which everyone is operating, it is a very laid back, cozy atmosphere.
Grab a bottle (or 2) of your favorite wine
and go -- soon.
...because you'll want to go back, soon!!
The food, service, and ambiance was wonderful. I will definitely be returning.
Creative, perfectly cooked and very hospitable staff.
Just discovered the restaurant in this inn and it is worth the time and money. Owners and wait staff are amazing, and the food selection and preparation put this place above anything nearby. Really unique and magnificent flavors. Pleasantly surprised to find artwork by uber talented Dot Bunn in the inn!
The Inn at Barley Sheaf has become my husband and my favorite place for weekend brunch. When we are entertaining guests new to the area, it's a treasure we are excited to show them.
We have been to this resteraunt many times and this time did not disappoint. Great food, wonderful service and beautiful ambiance. Would highly recommend.
The setting is lovely The food was creative and delicious. The service was good without being overbearing. Overall wonderful
We lost track of how many times we’ve been here. We drive over an hour to experience the culinary talent of Chef Joshua as he always introduces your palate to tastes you’ve never dreamed of. The food is nothing less than outstanding; best described like a taste explosion in your mouth!
Great place for any occasion.
Loved the ambiance of the farm/B&B. Lovely country farm setting. Service was fantastic and the food was excellent. We can’t wait to go back.
Really nice experience overall. Restaurant is not huge but tables are comfortably apart so you don’t feel on top of each other. Appetizers were better than mains but generally good throughout. The Bibb Lettuce appetizer, surprising, was outstanding. Served whole, delicately dressed, very flavorful. The special grilled octopus was also delicious. The elk was a little dry; the waitress warned us to go rare, which we did, but still a little dry as it is so lean. Glad we tried it nonetheless. The wild bass with smoked mussels was a little on the salty side. Not a huge dessert selection but interesting choices. Definitely a place to go for a special occasion or a treat out.
Somewhat limited menu, but everyone in our group was quit pleased. I had the pumpkin soup, which was excellent, and the elk entree which was prepared wonderfully and, surprisingly not the least bit gamey
Delicious dinner with great atmosphere and service!
