Indique is coined by combining India and the unique. The two-story courtyard is bordered by carved white marble railings. Bold colors and rich fabric lend a refined yet casual ambience to the inviting space. Stark white stylish tableware works as the canvas for the artful creations of the kitchen. Appearances and flavors are given equal attention and both excel. Appetizers, named First Tastes draw on traditional Indian favorites and contemporary innovations like tapas or meze and served on small plates. Tandoor specialties shine here with rare coastal seafood and regional dishes from the south of India. Attentive service complements the sophisticated kitchen.

Indique Ratings and Reviews
Our first meal at Indique, and their weekend brunch is spectacular. The option to sample numerous dishes and experience a range of flavors is hard to top. The vegetarian biryani probably topped the list of dishes we ordered; amazingly good. This will be on our list for a return visit very soon. Service was also terrific!
This was our second dinner there in the past few months. The atmosphere is great -- very lively and energetic, in a great space that's been decorated in some Indian style. The Mumbai Mule rum cocktail was very nice and the Street Snack appetizers are fun to explore. The fish curry was quite spicy but very good; the Chicken Tikka Masala was less satisfying. The breads were great. I regret not ordering a veggie entree. I'd like to see them expand their veggie menu.
Don't order more than two small plates at a time because every thing you order will be delivered at once. If you're seated at a two-top, like we were, the plates will have to be stacked overlapping each other and the hot ones will get cold before
you get to them all. A couple seated next to us had to be moved to a larger table because their two-top could not hold all their order.
I am admittedly a bit of an Indian food snob, and I have yet to find an Indian restaurant in DC that satisfies. With that in mind I found the food rather disappointing. I would comfortably say it is "American Indian", so if you're looking (as I was) for a long list of traditional curries and dishes you will not find it here. For example, the option I ended up settling for was simply called "chicken curry Indique"...a disappointment to someone who adores the spice and robust flavors of chicken jalfrezi or madras curries. The garlic naan was freshly baked but lacking a bit in flavor. If you simply enjoy Indian food in all its forms, however, then this place is probably fine--the two friends I was with really enjoyed their meals.
After going to Indique for dinner on several occasions and enjoying it immensely, I was really looking forward to trying their unlimited brunch menu, and it did not disappoint. My friends and I enjoyed a variety of small plates and waddled out of the restaurant happy. The food, drinks and service were all top notch. Will definitely be going back.
Every bite of every dish was a revelation...This place does it right - welcoming ambience, excellent service and the food is beyond exceptional. Best testament - we were surrounded by a lot of very excited, talkative diners. When their food arrived, silence...as they focused on their meal. Big smiles throughout the restaurant. You won't be disappointed.
I have liked Indique in the past, but this past Saturday our dining experience was really disappointing--both the food and the service. First, we ordered drinks and they forgot to bring them, so we got our drinks about 20 minutes or a half-hour after we ordered them. We ordered appetizers and a regular meal and they brought everything out at once with no apologies. My vegetarian dish was really disappointing. The vegetables in this vegetable stew (I forget the name) appeared to be those frozen carrots and peas from the frozen food section at the grocery store. There were only a few mushrooms thrown in, and they were supposed to be a main part of the dish. I'll think twice before returning.
The wife and I visited on a recommendation from a co-worker and while the parking was bananas had a nice meal overlooking the Cleveland Park Metro and the strip mall across the way. We sat out on the balcony which was cool and had the Samosa Chaat to start which was pretty tasty the Lamb Shank and the Lamb Roganjosh as entrees. The Lamb Shank was very tasty and was a healthy portion the roganjosh was just ok. We also had the Paneer with the cheese cubes that was ok too. So all in all not bad but not like we have to run back soon either...check it out for yourself...let us know what you think!
Indique has a very helpful and friendly staff which provided excellent service. I liked having a choice of optional dining spaces. The tolerable noise level allowed for pleasant dinner table conversation without having to speak loudly. The samosas, chopped chicken and chicken tikka were all very good. I look forward to dining at Indique again and would have no hesitation in recommending it to a friend.
I've been an Indique customer for more than 10 years. With the recent changes to their menu in looking to rediscover a whole new indique experience. Indique offers a great selection of authentic Indian food with a unique twist. We started with their unassuming chutney sampler and the newly introduced cauliflower fry along with their classic mini dosa. Their dosa never disappoints. The chutney sampler was a pleasant surprise! For the entree, we stuck to their tried and tested Punjabi Chole & Aloo Gobhi and finished off with a masala Chai. I can't wait to try the other new items that have been introduced with the revamped menu!
I cannot recommend this restaurant. The service very poor. They brought a bottle of beer but no glasses. It took then sometime to bring the glasses. The waitress have no clue to serve the customers. It took them over an hour to bring the main course. When it arrives after asking for the supervisor the chicken dish was passable. The lamb was so tough that we were not able to eat. The whole evening was very disappointing.
We were there for brunch on Sunday and had the unlimited brunch plates. We liked most of the plates we ordered. Our favorites were the Tellicherry peppercorn beef and the pickled pork belly. Service was uneven. Had to wait long to place orders, with different waiters helping us. However we loved the food!
Wonderful new menu. We especially liked the cauliflower appetizer and the fish curry...and oh, the toasted coconut gelato! Great service; newly reinvigorated and upbeat atmosphere. Congrats to the younger family members who are bringing new life to an older favorite place.
After many years in Cleveland Park, Indique is enjoying a remarkable renaissance. The dining room is bright and attractive; service is quick, efficient, and personable; and the food is consistently very good. Tandoori dishes are excellent! Indique has recently added a weekend brunch: a la carte or unlimited small plates, with or without brunch beverages, for a fixed price. Brunch is deservedly popular. Overall, a mainstay for dining in the Cleveland Park neighborhood.
Food was very enjoyable. Rogan Josh was as good as I've had anywhere. Shrimp "shooters" appetizer was a creative fun creation. Samosa was enjoyable as well. Friends' vegetatarian dishes were well received. However, it was clear the resteraunt was overwelmed with their "restaurant week" crowd. Our server's English was weak and his serving experience was obviously limited. Unfortunately, after multiple mistakes and delays (45 minutes between appetizers and entrees) I finally had to go speak to the manager. To his credit, he took charge and the food was at the table within a few minutes. Obviously, it was ready but the server didn't know it. The manager apologized and did the right thing offering a complimentary glass of wine and desert. This all aside, it s worth experiencing the fine food.
