Main dishes were less than average quality and taste. Skirt steak was hard to chew, fibrous. Quesadillas were soggy and smothered by the black beans and the sauce on the steak. Our VIP guest from out of the country had a shellfish soup that was so spicy and salty she could not eat it. I asked for chef Deborah Scott and was told she was not there that night. She needs to pay more attention to what's going on in this kitchen.

Mmm Mmm Mmmm. Had the fire skirt steak; spicy yet had depth and full of flavor...not just spicy to be spicy....was not overly spicy. The meat could have been more tender.
The hamburgler says that they have the best corn dogs he's ever had.
Best veggies, we want to learn to cook like Indigo Grill cooks vegies. Everyone would eat them at a home dinner if they tasted this good.

Live music which was a perfect level, not to loud. Large portions of really good food, we could have shared.

I love this restaurant, but they need to adjust the music, turn it down, when the restaurant is full. It was so loud by the kitchen that we asked to be moved outside. We we're NOT able to hear each other talk.

I've been here twice and it has been great. Latin American gem in little Italy. It is loud but, comfortable. The food is very tasty and the churros should not be missed!

We were seated next to the open kitchen which meant we got to see all the condiment squeeze bottles and smell the cooking odors. The guacamole was bland and the stale chips were inedible. The brie was too mild to be set in mole sauce. The salt & pepper shrimp dish was okay and the fig & walnuts flatbread was very good.

Indigo Grill was recommended to me by my husband. He lived in San Diego 15 years ago and this was his favorite restaurant. It has obviously gone downhill since then. I was expecting innovative fare, artfully crafted and a hip ambiance. The restaurant setting was nice, but the steak we ordered was over cooked, and the sauces were greasy. Portions were small for the price. Service was slow and I was not impressed. Will not go back. There are other much better options in the downtown area.

They did not want to serve us alcohol even ig we were over 30, and then they gave us a plate with a living spider on it. The food was very good, though.

I have always liked the Indigo Grill and the food has always been delicious. We decided to go there for New Years Eve this year and had a very bad experience. The food was not good, it was very bland, chicken was awful and the salmon was the same, no flavor. Maybe because it was a set menu and they had to make a lot it lost it's flavor. Don't think I'll be going back.

Went with friends for NYE. Reservations were necessary for this kind of event but normally no reservations are needed. Great food, server was awesome and ambiance was on point. In the heart of Little Italy and plenty to do.

We enjoyed our dinner here! My brother has a gluten free diet and he was able to order a delicious salmon entree. I had the tacos and decided to try one shark, one chicken and one carnitas taco and they were all yummy!!

Came here for my 21st birthday. Asked the server to get me a drink that was sweet and she had the bartender make me some special drinks that weren’t even on the menu. They were delicious and very reasonably priced. We ordered many food items and all of them were super delicious. The bacon wrapped filet was cooked perfectly. They brought me churros for my birthday and my family agreed that they were the best churros we have ever had in our entire lives. I’d come back just for the churros. The ambiance and vibe of the place were very unique and fun. Can’t wait to bring my boyfriend there!

I did not like the fact that they called me 30 mins ago before reservation to let me know that only Christmas menu is available for today. It did not mention this on open table and there was not any Christmas menu up in the application. When we got there, the girl at the front door was so rude. I and my boyfriend were trying to explain that it should have been informed before but she was keep ignoring and not even saying “sorry”. Here is the thing what if I don’t like anything in the Christmas menu or what if I am allergic to stuff that in the menu, so I need to know beforehand not 30 mins before the reservation. I was not trying to make a fight but just to let them know. On the other hand, our waitress was so nice, helped with everything and the food was great- it worths the money. The aura of the restaurant is so nice, classing songs are calming and you can talk while you are eating.

I have been to Indigo Grill several times when business travel has brought me to San Diego, and I promised my wife to bring her if we ever got to town. Earlier this month we capped off a vacation with dear friends with a night in San Diego, and I suggested (strongly) Indigo Grill - knowing that we all like good food and one of us is a vegan. From the reservation, through to them confirming our space, to the meal and attentive (but not obtrusive) service, this was as I'd hoped - a great ending to the vacation.
Highly recommended.

We made reservations a week in advance for 3 people and let them know it was my husbands birthday and celebrating with my 77 year old mother. They sat us at a long awkward white table in a corridor like area in the bar. The chairs were very uncomfortable for my mother and it was like being in a diner. We asked for any other options and they said there were none. We asked if they could check with a manager and they smugly smiled and said there was nothing they could do. We were not able to talk with a manager and no one even came over after and apologized. We enjoy the food there greatly and thought this would be a nice special occasion and treat for my mom before the symphony. Sadly, it was a very disappointing experience. We will think twice before returning.

Absolutely magnificent food. Didn't expect this level of creativity and imagination. It was one of the best culinary experiences I've ever had and believe me I've been around the world and back. And all that for very reasonable price! Loved it and will be back with family and friends soon.

Many changes have happened at the Indigo Grill since our last visit, and we feel it's not nearly what it used to be. First, it is not close to as physically comfortable as it formerly was, but I guess trendy will always win. To be sure, they still take pride in serving too much food, which is great if you are local, but not so much if you're traveling. The Margaritas were a tad underwhelming, a bit bland. The Ahi ceviche was piled very high, making it difficult to eat; the tuna was tasty though as was all the food...just nothing outstanding, and that's a shame because this had always been a place we looked forward to returning on our visits to San Diego.

We went with a party of 6 for Thanksgiving, and it was a great choice. Everything we ordered was delicious and we loved having so many choices. Atmosphere was cozy and not noisy at all, service was excellent. Everyone was pleasant and friendly from the moment we walked in. After having a couple of Thanksgivings at a well-known, long-established (and rather stuffy) downtown San Diego restaurant that is up very high and has a great view of the city and bay, everyone in our group much preferred Indigo Grill in every way. So glad our daughters suggested it!

Found this restaurant on TripAdvisor. Coming from out of town. The food and service were excellent.

Beware - if you don't know the area - this restaurant is in a "hopping" area of town. Parking is a challenge but it appears that the restaurant offers a valet service.

The food is always good here. However, I made a reservation for a birthday. When we arrived, I told the hostess that we were going to have a drink at the bar first. After we were done, I asked to be seated. We were seated outside, and I stated that I cannot stand heat lamps and can we please have a table inside. I was told that the tables inside were all reserved. Was that a joke? I had a reservation! And it was a birthday. On my reservation, I requested an inside nice table and got one outside next to a register.
