India's Rasoi Ratings and Reviews
The food was good. I ordered the Rogan Josh as I always do and enjoyed thoroughly. The other guests were not as familiar with Indian food but we found menu items they could enjoy. The waiter was pleasant but when asked about how something tasted or what were the spices, he came up short. Not sure if was a language problem. On that sense however it added to the ambiance.
The restaurant was busy but our server still took time to answer questions and make requested recommendations. The flavors and freshness of all the dishes made for a delicious dinner. Our table, near the door, was a bit chilly but the staff increased the heat and we were all comfortable within a few minutes. Rasoi is a gem.
I brought my friend for her 25th birthday, a very special occasion since it was her first birthday being celebrated away from her family. She had a blast and really loved the atmosphere and food! It was my first time having this type cuisine; I'm hooked. So delicious! Thank you, for a great dining experience.
Our bill for 2 people was over $100.00...the service was awful!!!! The chicken was so over cooked in the Tiki Masala it was inedible. I'm so glad there are other options for Indian cuisine in St. Louis. I was so embarrassed, my guest was from India. Never again.
This is a real gem in the CWE. The food is fantastic for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Having never been to India I can't speak to the authenticity, but there did seem to be a number of other diners from that region which may speak to that. We had a party of six and the service was great from the moment we sat down.
I was looking for a good Indian restaurant in STL to take my fiancé to (she's never tried Indian cuisine before), and found Rasoi after some Google searches. We decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad we did. Immediately when we walked in, the ambiance was very comfortable and classy (not at all creepy or weird like you find at some foreign restaurants). Our waiter was awesome- he was friendly, fun, and helpful with ordering off the menu. He recommended the chicken Masala- which we both ordered (along with crab cakes and the garlic cheese naan) and everything was superb with so much flavor! during our meal the waiter was very attentive to removing any dishes we were finished with and making sure we had enough to drink. I left a much bigger tip than usual (and I'm a generous tipper as it is) because I was so impressed by the service. The food and drink prices were reasonable (wine was a little pricey, but nothing terrible). Overall, the romantic ambiance, superb food, and top notch service won our business. We will definitely go back again.
After become Twitter buddies with @indarasoi I finally made it in to try the food! We were not disappointed! Everthing was wonderful! Our waiter was friendly, fast and made a lot of good suggestions.
There was good amount of lag between the appetizers and the entrees - gave us plenty of time to enjoy the samosas before indulging in Shrimp Tikka Masala and Chicken Vindaloo.
Restaurant was quiet, but busy; not too dark, but not overly lit for a saturday night dinner. Decent beer, wine and liquor selection too! I'm definitely interested in going back for the lunch buffet!
My family and I are from northern Illinois, but I went to school at SLU. We make at least a yearly visit back to the Lou and Rasoi is ALWAYS on the agenda for at least one meal. We especially enjoy their lunch buffet. They have a great selection and the food is always perfect. Just enough spice! We've introduced a few friends to the world if Indian cuisine by bringing them to Rasoi, and have had many success stories! Lots of people interested in coming back for another meal. Overall, great food, experience and super friendly servers! Recommend to anyone that is looking for a great meal!
Great wine at a decent price. Our waiter was really nice.
Food needs to reflect different flavors. Veggie curries all tasted the same.
Think chef needs to review usage of different spice combos with different vegetables -
Seemed like the same spices used for everything.
I am Indian and I know what I'm talking about.
The waiter was slow and inattentive. The place wasn't exactly packed, especially for 8pm on a Saturday. The food almost arrived ahead of the drinks. The lamb was very chewy, worst I've ever had. The chicken was ok. Seasoning overall was good. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant was nicely furnished and decorated.
