We went for dinner. We were a group of 5 which included 2 kids. Each one of us ordered our own dish. It would have been nice for the server to tell us that each dish could be shared by 2-3 people (adults) easily! We ended up with a ton of leftovers! Also when we asked for a shareable portion of bread (bread basket) he said it would not be enough for 3 adults and 2 kids! I saw a neighboring table and in my opinion it would have been more than enough! The server was pushy and just overselling ....in which he succeeded!
I first visited India Palace way back in 1992. It was the first Indian restaurant I'd ever visited, so I had little else to compare it to. Fast forward 25 years and it's still an amazing place. My only complaint is that the cozy, typical Indian restaurant decor has been replaced with more sleek and modern designs. Other than that, the food and service are both still amazing.
Very delicious Indian food. Shared the vegetarian platter for one with a friend and it was more than enough food.
Good solid Indian food that you'll get in Dallas
I had dinner there and bill was way higher than the food I got. Basically, this place is over priced. Just go for lunch buffet. I should have known better when I walked in. This place was empty. Food was just mediocre Indian food. Nothing excellent about it. Won't go back there again.
Upscale decor and excellent value make this a worthy restaurant. The menu includes staples of the Indian cuisine, but also rare-to-find dishes, such as the Hakka Noodles, a Chinese-Indian (Chindian) dish. The servers are well-meaning, but were not familiar enough with the menu. The serving are of generous size.
We have been dining at India Palace for over 30 years. Christmas Day they were very busy. Our waiter was very inexperienced. We asked a busboy for water and he gave us attitude and only one water. We were given our appetizer plate without the condiments. Had to wait FOREVER for the check and finally brought it up to the hostess to pay. Told the owner, who we know, about our complaints and he could not have cared less. Not even an apology. Will not go back!
I've eaten here or done take out several times. It's usually fine but this particular night was a bit crazy; the kitchen was very backed up and our food took a while to get out. Our server was very apologetic. However, when our food finally came out, it was partially the wrong order. They were very quick to fix this and comped us one entree and a couple desserts.
Ultimately I am happy with India Palace for having consistently great quality and going above and beyond to take care of the very rare problem that does occasionally come up. Thank you, Patrick, for helping make the most of what could otherwise have been a rocky experience.
The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. I highly recomend this restaurant. It is the best Indian restaurant in Dallas.
Other than a recalcitrant child at a nearby table, the food and service were far above normal. We don't dine at India Palace often, due to the length of the drive from our home, but when we do, it seldom fails to impress. The spice level of the food can be customized to one's particular tastes ... which in Indian Food, might be an important consideration for some. Service is friendly and prompt. The menu selection is extensive.
It is well kept restaurant, clean and decorated nicely. We had the buffet and while it was nicely laid out and had quite a lot of items, the food was a let down. While they had a good spread many items were not warm enough, the South Indian dishes were terrible and the North Indian selections were ok. Service was good but can't make up for the quality of the food. Will not be going back.
I was surprised by the service level on this last visit. We were one of three tables occupied in the restaurant and was seated by the bar wall, were we had to talk over television and wait staff conversing in the bar area. Service didn't seem as prompt in the past. Once we finished dining, the server came by to check on us and our silverware was crossed in our plates. We expected her to remove the plates so we could continue talking. After a while, we finally pushed the plates out of our way while we talked. Soon, three people came to the table and took over 4 minutes to move plates around and finally clear the table. This just wasn't the experience that I am used to seeing at India Palace.
Best Indian food we have had in the US
The food was very good. The mango lassi was delicious
Party of eight men across from us. Quite loud the more beer they drank
Great buffet! Always good choices and lots of variety.
The food was excellent. Some dishes were better than others, but overall great. The chili chicken was absolutely delicious! Curry chicken was better than the chicken tika masala. Their Cabernet was also very good.
Very tasty curry, we were not aware there was a Sunday buffet on father'sday!
My favorite Indian in Dallas. This one could hold up against others in more Indian Food rich cities. Love their rich and flavorful Chicken Tikki Masalas and Saag Paneer. I order this for home delivery often. It's always delicious.
India Palace has consistently great Indian food. I'm not Indian so keep that in mind but I find the menu varied and everything I've ever had there has been good. Saturday night I (a female) took my cousin and her boyfriend out for dinner as repayment for walking my dog. The food was good as usual. What I found odd was that the waiter addressed my cousin's boyfriend first every time he came to the table. Again he was the only male at the table. The waiter was definitely giving him more respect than either of the women at the table. I'm sure he was quite surprised at the end when I paid for the meal. I'm sorry now that I did not dock his tip and write him a note saying why. Perhaps he will read this review and learn from it. If not, next time, I will definitely make my position clear. And if it happens a third time, I will go somewhere else.
Attractive restaurant. Food very spicy. Large noisy tables on either side-asked to move-was discouraged despite empty tables. Won't return.
I love Indian food! The food here is very good but a bit pricey. The ambiance is casual and the atmosphere is quiet. They also have a fairly decent cocktail menu. If you are in the mood for sit down Indian food this is the only place I can find that's decent in this part of Dallas and it's a good place for a date night!
My wife and I love Indian food and had heard good things about the India Palace. The food and service could not have been better. Our waiter was the best and made the birthday celebration even more special with his friendly attitude, fun rendition of happy birthday and the special treat for my wife. We look forward to returning in the near future.
I ate vegetarian bhojan. And drank a kingfisher beer. The beer is not the best kingfisher beer you can get. I would have preferred kingfisher strong.
Papad with chutney s , nice ! Green chutney was fantastic. Other two lack in flavor. Tamarind chutney disappointed me.
In the thali, kofta were fabulous. Rajma was spicy but lacked the creamy flavor. Saag paneer was OK. Naan were good. Kheer disappointed me again big time. Texture of kheer too rough for me. Lacked the sweetness .
Raita was the worst. Texture and taste wise. Why would you put milk and curd item in one dish ? Doesn't go well.
And all this for 33 $ ...I mean come on! Had the taste been good..I would have paid $40. It felt as if 2 different chefs made separate dishes of that plate. They charged for quantity and not for taste. More importantly, just make it as they do it India. Bold flavor s.
Love this place. They are always glad to see you, the food is presented beautifully, and everything is hot and delicious. Service was excellent!
We have been here over and over and it never disappoints. The buffet has plenty to offer and the food is fresh, hot and refilled constantly.
Overall decor was good and the food was pretty authentic. Couple of serious issues 1) tables are very close, 2) when asked for extra spicy food, it was served loaded with heaps of red chili peppers, very painful experience (not expected from professional chef)
Hands down the best Indian food in Dallas. Been dining here for years. Love the remodel.
Food was good. Service spotty. They seem to get overwhelmed when busy. Good value and nicer ambience since renovation.
India Palace has been serving the best Indian food in Texas for over 25 years.
They consistently have a great variety and high quality of options for enjoying the best of Indian cuisine.
I highly recommend India Palace.
India Palace has had the best Indian food in Dallas for over 25 years. They consistently serve fresh and tasty Indian food in a gracious atmosphere. I highly recommend India Palace for anyone looking for Indian food in North Texas.
If you love Indian food this is the place for you! Outstanding flavors in well prepared meals. Spice to your desired heat level tolerance.
Sam the server was excellent. Food was good. Maharajah platter was a feast. Owners/ managers seemed too busy to handle the crowd when the restaurant was half full-not very welcoming when you walk in.
India Palace is rated 4.3 stars by 33 OpenTable diners.
