Went to dinner with our family of 5. Made reservations. Table wasn’t ready and there were only two other groups in the entire restaurant. It took them 35 minutes to get water and get an order started. Can’t imagine what it would be like if the restaurant was full. The food was good but the overall service was lacking. Would recommend take out vs in dining.
Huge portions. Very tasty. We could have share one and been happy.
I will be back.
Great service, nice atmosphere, great value. Had a nice vegetarian thali dinner. Kitchen was accommodating of dietary needs.
We have been going to India House for many years, The food is fabulous. The Owner Tony is very nice and mostly there. They have very nice booths for 4 and for larger parties. The cherry naan is yummy and the only place we know that makes it. Our favorite Indian Food place in Portland Metro area
First time visit for our two guests. They loved the food, setting, service and breadth of the menu. We always eat family style. Portion sizes support that.
Food was great as always. Server was a little strange but overall good.
We've enjoyed India House for many, many years. Food always great, and Tariq (Tony) always a welcoming and gracious house.
Food was amazing... Spice level was great for 8 children. We had a group of 16 and they gave us several house specials (ginger chicken) on the house to celebrate a graduation. The waiter was great.
Times with open table and restaurant were not accurate. We arrived and restarting was not open, even though they accepted the reservation. Will not go back.
One waiter, full house. Not something I would ding them for on my first trip. But only get ones more shot. Good food.
A birthday tradition in our house. It's a little speedy, but the flavors never disappoint. Yum
Very nice christmas evening meal. Attentive service and good vindaloo! Will return next visit to OR.
The owner Tony prides himself in making all of his sauces and dishes homemade. Warm, cozy, elegant atmosphere with nice booths. Very clean! Food tastes fresh. My new favorite Indian restaurant.
All food was soupy. We ordered a number of vegetarian as well as meat dishes, and there were no identifiable vegetables whether eggplant or mixed.
Enjoyed our meals there. Will go again. Wait staff somewhat overwhelmed by post-Timbers crowd but kept a friendly outlook. I had prawns and they were tasty.
We have been fans of India House for many years. The food is why we go there. It is wonderful. Great Kormas, Curries, Bhunas, Tandooris, etc. There are items on the menu we cant get anywhere else (Cherry Naan). The booths are comfortable and cozy. Window tables if you have larger groups. Tony, the Owner is wonderful and is there most nights, sometimes in the kitchen. We take friends often and it always gets rave reviews from them too.
Great food. Cool environment.
The waiter was a bit odd - spoke almost like he was drunk. Was a bit uncomfortable interacting with him.
Been going here for years and always enjoying the dishes we order and the service is excellent!
Despite the late night reservation and a last minute rush of diners the staff and food quality did not fail to impress! Reliable taste and quality. Don’t miss tasty appetizers rushing toward delicious entrees!
We have dined here many times, and find the menu and food good.
I’ve eaten Indian food worldwide, and this is definitely not good. Rogan josh consisted of a greasy gravy. It was not the least bit creamy and lacked any nuanced spice.....just “heat”
Very little and poor quality lamb. Horribly overpriced
Well appointed with quality service. The food was exceptional, with a tasty vindaloo and an excellent set of vegetarian options. It was affordable, enjoyable, and I look forward to returning.
Ambience and service ok, but if you’re into Indian food, this is just the best. Been going there 25 years!
Food was amazing and menu had a large selection of traditional Indian food.
We dined before a theater event. Food was perfect--and I have eaten at India House many times and have never been disappointed. the service very courteous and attentive.
Lovely staff, amazing food. Perfect for dates and family outings.
We have come to India House for many years now. It's dependable, good Indian food with a fairly extensive menu. It's a family-friendly restaurant, usually with quick service. They have decent Indian beers as well as local wine choices, but they also offer delicious mango lassi's for the kids! You are able to choose the level of spiciness you prefer for each dish. It is not 'fine dining', but it's a decent and comfortable restaurant with good food and a convenient location!
We had a horrible experience. We waited over 2 hours to receive our food! The wait staff was indifferent and did nothing to accommodate the crazy long wait. When the food arrived it was tasteless. The food had obviously sat in warming kettles. It was over cooked and under spiced. Terrible dining experience. Will NEVER return!!!!!!
I had not been to India House in about 10 years. I remember the food being much better then, especially the garlic naan and the biryani. Our order came out very quickly and the food was not sufficiently heated, and seemed like it had been quickly heated in a microwave.
Driven by many times, always wanted to stop in. Finally did, was not disappointed at all. The rice (2 choices) was cooked perfectly, the dal and other toppings were excellent. Unfortunately, l don't eat a lot, so... it wasn't a good deal for me, but my plate was delicious. I don't like green tea, and that is what they offered. Will I go again? Yes, with someone who has a large stomach!
Things were okay until more people arrived, waiter couldn't attend everyone efficiently (as he was the only one there with one other gal). Please hire more if you expect the place to be busy. :)
Second visit. The food was good, but both times the service was slow and condescending. Either one would be tolerable, but not both. Probably won't be back.
Very average. Food was just OK, not flavorful. Everything was ala carte which seemed rather cheap to not even include rice.
I have been coming here for years and I don't know if the changed ownership but the curry I had was bland the samosas were soggy and the Portions were very small
I would not recommend this restaurant
What a great server- she says her son works there too! Delicious
Food was absolutely incredible and our server Johnny felt like family, he helped us navigate the menu and his recommendations were top notch.
India House has been around forever and we have been going for around 15 years. The food is good, the service was great and we always love being here.
Excellent basic Indian dishes, very flavorful. Perhaps slightly pricey, but worth it. Pleasant, slightly dated atmosphere, attentive service.
We have been going to the India House for more than 20 years. The thali meals are a great option, allowing guests to taste a variety of dishes for less than $20. They have a variety of Indian beers, and the sweet lassis are great.
Our waiter (Johnny) is absolutely THE BEST!! He always helps us choose an elegant and tasty meal ... wine, too!! Thanks, Johnny!!!
