First time back after several years. Enjoyed our food. The noise level increased as the night went on. But all in all a good "dare night" with my husband.

First time we have come here was 4 or 5 years ago. The food was outstanding, great Indian food. This last visit the food was just mediocre. A disappointment and I would not go back here.

Love this place ... can always count on getting great food here. It's not loud, the serving staff are helpful if you don't know the different items and the food seems authentic.

Ambience and service was great! Food was good but a bit more flavor would have made me give an extra star.

Found the receptionist to be completely unwelcoming both upon arrival and departure. She barely made eye contact and did not speak when seating us or when we left. The server was also unfriendly. They ruined the experience, but the food didn't help, either. I love spicy but 2 of the other 3 diners could have benefitted from a server who actually asked them about their tolerance for spicy food, as is often a practice at Indian restaurants, particularly one that is basically a tourist trap. I informed him that their mouths were on fire and he brought yogurt of some kind to help but by then it was really too late.

We chose this restaurant because we love Indian food and it had good reviews, but were underwhelmed. Everything tasted kind of the same. It wasn't terrible, just not the best Indian food we've had. The service was excellent, and the room itself is very nice. Serving sizes were large but we left most of our food on the table.

Overall experience was ruined when we found a bandaid in our food. The staff handled it as gracefully as possible and comped our entire meal but suffice to say we will not be going back.

Food frankly not great but would recommend it as it is one of the ONLY Indian restaurants in River North neighborhood and near the Chicago Loop.

I've been here a few times and the food is always good. Their vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes are good. The service is really slow though which is difficult to deal with. Also, on my recent visit the valet situation was a disaster. There was only one person working and it took almost 20min to get our car even though it was parked in front of the restaurant. The valet was out parking a car so there was no one available to get our keys. An absolute buzz kill after filling your stomach with delicious indian food. We were all in a food coma and wanted to go home. Not sure if this is the norm. It was our first time using the valet at India House. Usually we walk or cab over. Despite those negatives we'll be back. The food is really good and the location is convenient.

Solid food, the bartenders are very nice, but if you're one person coming to eat you'll be automatically seated at the bar, which wasn't really what I had in mind

The food, ambiance, and service is excellent. Aloo tikki chat is great, tandoori items are very tasty. They just need to serve the food hotter. EVERYTIME we go, the food comes out lukewarm. We asked them to bring our gulab jamun extra hot, and it was warm. Overall, would recommend it to family and friends.

Excellent Indian food in a prime downtown location. They serve all of the Indian standard dishes and execute them very well. We frequent Devon Ave restaurants and this spot outside the Indian neighborhood is above average. It is also more than twice the price.

We came here to celebrate a special occasion and were really disappointed with our experience. We drove over an hour to get there and made the trip because we had been there three years ago and had liked it then. The service was really slow, the naan and gravy they serve before the meal came in a tiny bowl which apparently was for both of us. The waiter never came by to ask how the food was or whether we needed more. We ordered the same dishes as we did the last time. We were really disappointed to find out there was no flavor in the palak paneer and it wasn't spicy at all. Even the malai kofta was just ok. Paying 100 dollars for a meal and getting less than average quality experience is just unacceptable. We would never go back to this place again.

Perhaps, it was because it was
a holiday, and a Sunday, but
service was poor, food seemed
to have been on a steam table too
long, and over-cooked, but our
favorite place for Indian cuisine
was very disappointing. Something
has gone very wrong.

This was my first time here. I made reservations and indicated it was a special occasion. When we arrived they sat us at a table next to the bathrooms when the restaurant was not that busy. I requested to move to a booth and they were extremely nice about it.
After that, it was all fantastic and I will go back. The service was terrific and food even tastier. They have an extensive menu so it was difficult to decide. I loved everything we tried - sesame nan, fresh salad, lamb and a vegetarian dish. Yum yum yum! Go there!

Food is great but service is not the best, expensive for what it is, $21.95 for Chicken Tikka Masala and you have to order rice separately. Wine by the glass was $15 and about 5oz. Too many great options in Chicago to bother going back.

The food is over rated. None of the dishes we ordered were good. We ordered tea in the end & they brought it twice but both of the times, it was cold & not fresh. When we asked, they said we don't make fresh tea. It is made once in the morning. Seriously??? And still they charged $3.50 for each tea. Will not recommend.
