Food is great, service can be slow sometimes though
Sooooooo good!!! They have more options than most Indian restaurants in the Bay Area that I’ve been to. We ordered several curries and breads as well as tandoori chicken (very moist and tender), samosas and veggie pakora. Everything was delicious. Totally going there again.
Great service, excellent food lovely dining room.
Friendly service, warm atmosphere and delicious food! We will be back to try some other menu items that caught our eye for sure.
Late dinner 8:45 on a Thursday night so the place was pretty quiet, and not many patrons. We had a nice sit on the floor booth.
Food was full of flavor and came up hot. Would definitely go again
The shrimp tandoori was overcooked to the point of being difficult to chew. The worst dishof our four dishes was the cucumber salad, which consisted of thickly cut cucumber, with thick slices of raw carrot and one slice of raw onion. Really! Even the naan was bad. There were some pieces of shredded cheese, which was supposed to be goat cheese.
We were the only people in the restaurant the entire time we were there, yet the service was really, really slow. We had to ask twice to get our drinks. When we arrived we were chastised for being a day late. I showed the server my change of date confirmation, but he wasn't interested. We were celebrating a birthday, and this was a huge disappointment.
Great food. Good friendly people.
Bit pricey.nice location
Food is always good but service could be better
Sadly the lonely waiter was overworked—he had to take orders from the tables, deliver them and also answer the phone. The food was ok (though not great) but it did not come out with rice (an anomaly for an Indian restaurant!) The naan was so so...overall I would not return here.
Delicious Indian cuisine! We were pleasantly surprised.
Food was not good, we have had much better Indian food elsewhere.
Our party of 8 grew to a party of 12 and we were graciously accommodated. Our request to split the check into groups of 6 was happily accommodated. Only 1 wait person was working so it took some time for us to place our order. We ordered 4 appetizers and they soon arrived with a variety of sauces. I particularly enjoyed the calamari. I selected Lamb Saag. It was delicious. I ordered a house sauvignion blanc with my meal. It tasted much more like a dry riesling. The ambience could have been a bit better. A large screen TV depicting some kind of mayhem that no one was apparently watching was quite distracting. I had to ask for the lights to be turned on so we could see one another. Even with the lights, it was difficult to see the others in the room. We did enjoy the view of the harbor from our tables
Our dinner was amazing! Everything recommended was delicious, the views are beautiful, and the service was outstanding.
I was looking for a restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday. We like to try out new places for special occasions, to find new favorites, and I wanted to look outside the usual Millbrae, Burlingame, San Mateo business districts. Checked out the coastal options and settled on India Beach. What a great choice! Easy drive along the coast, friendly staff, and the food was great. Be sure to order the salmon tandoori.
Service, food and atmosphere were what we wanted and received. Its in the neighborhood and to be able to patronize a restaurant in our area and have it been terrific is a plus, Thank you.
A lot of the time, when traveling to smaller towns for some quiet time out of the Big City, I find food that is less than "up to par". No fault of the restaurant, usually, they just don't have access to the talent and the ingredients. This did not stop India Beach! We were greeted as if we were regulars, given a great "cozy" booth (on pillows, no less), and a waiter with genuine charm. Then the food came out. My girlfriend is a non-glutten eater, and this was not a problem, as much of the breaded fare is fried in chickpea flour, what a great idea! The curry were on point, veggies cooked to perfection, meat tender, juicy, and spicy. This restaurant is out of the way if you're in Half Moon Bay, but worth the effort to find.
This is by far the best Indian cuisine I've had in many years... as a matter of fact, best since I was in London. I had the Prawns Goa and it was out of this world... mild, creamy coconut based curry with lots of large shrimp - perfectly spiced. Even the rice is wonderful - a quality Basmati with saffron, peas and spices. The appetizer was their version of fried calamari, which is fried in a garbanzo bean batter - with 3 sauces - absolutely could have ordered two and made a meal out of it. My date had chicken tikka marsala, and it too was wonderful.
This was my 2nd trip there, and I will definitely go back... there's a mango chicken on the menu that I'd like to try. Everything in this restaurant is superb. Prices are moderate (especially for the coast). Highly recommend it - I would give it 10 stars if I could...
I was promptly seated upon my arrival (aren't Open Table reservations wonderful! Especially when dining alone). I am not a particularly experienced diner for Indian food so I stuck with the Butter Chicken and Aloo Gobi with plain Naan after an appetizer of Calamari Pakora. Different levels of spiciness are offered and I stayed with mild spice for all dishes. Wait staff were attentive, the ambience is warm and nicely unexpected for a seaside establishment. The food was good and familiar by choice. Next time I will step it up a bit with the spices.
Excellent food (especially the butter chicken and the saag paneer), along with a gorgeous view including option for outdoor dining, great service!
Service was top notch- there was no one else in the restaurant, so I don't know how it is when it's busy. Food was great. The restaurant was clean and appealing. Nice Bollywood music playing in the background.
This restaurant opened recently and this was our first visit. We have always loved the ambiance of the restaurant and the new India Beach was even better. The food was outstanding and pricing was very reasonable. definitely will go back to try other selections as the menu is extensive. We brought our own wines, and the corkage fee is very reasonable. The wine list was reasonably priced but limited. Service started off great, but got a little slow as the meal progressed.
India Beach, which has taken over the property Cafe Gibralter operated, is a welcome addition to our local restaurant scene. Their cuisine is expertly prepared, the service is very good, and the atmosphere is pleasant. They haven't made many changes to the property and it is still as nice as ever, with some low seating in semi-private booths at the back, as well as traditional table and chair seating in the main dining area. They've added some outdoor tables and chairs, which is a nice touch. The ocean view is a bit far, but still easy to see through the large windows. If you're not a fan of spicy food, make certain to ask for the mildest version of whatever dish you are trying. Everything from their naan to their many entrees is freshly made and delicious! Their tandoori dishes are excellent, as are all the curries. Frankly, everything on the menu is very good. After several visits, I feel confident that this is a top notch dining experience.
The food was very tasty, a nice addition to coastside dining opportunities. The service was fine, but could use an uptick in friendliness. The only drawback, to us, was that their pre-teen boy (assuming it was the owner's boy) had control of the tv remote and he kept bringing up his favorite Indian music videos, which in it's self wouldn't have been bad, but he kept changing the channel and it was distracting and a little noisy. Overall good experience and we'll go back again when we crave Indian food!
Excellent dishes - nice ambience. Excellent local find.
Wonderful shared the two person feast which was li think 45.00 but it was so wonderful and had enough for another meal that we took home but gives you a great variety.
We had a great first time dinner and experience at India Beach and we look forward to going back very soon!
We arrived with a limited expectation after we have had other Indian restaurants in our small town and none have delighted. Indian Beach delivered. Flavorful food to share for our table plus a thrilling ambiance. I expect their servers knowledge of wine and serving will improve. We are thrilled with the restaurant, food quality and presentation and price. We will certainly be back, especially for the mid week work night last minute dinners.
India Beach is a great new addition to the restaurant scene here on the coast. It replaced Gibraltar Cafe which had a great reputation but in my experience was a disaster so to have a wonderful place like India Beach replace it is a wonderful surprise.
The food is fantastic and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
