He wasn't friendly, was empty on monday night...food lacked presentation although tasty..place. ..something
From the great food to the service, this place is a gem. We keep coming back. The chef/owner takes pride in everything he cooks. The staff can not be more perfect. Much time is paid to the smallest deatails.
Incognito is the perfect neighborhood restaurant that gets it right every time. Right from the start they treat you like a regular, there to greet you by name right as you arrive and things just get better from there. Paolo and Adriana are both great covering the room, making sure everyone feels at home and man can the guy cook.
The staff is very well trained, always there when you need them but they never hover over you while you are trying to enjoy your meal. Great spot to take people from out of town or for a quick weekend reservation. Super happy these guys choose my neighborhood to open this restaurant.
It was a Thurs. evening. The place wasn't crowded, there was no one to greet you at the door. We were seated by a busboy who said any table is fine. Told him we had a reservation, which is why opentable thought we were a no show. Ordered the lasagna and a salad. The salad was average at best. Croutons that were definitely from a package, skimpy on the main ingredients. The lasagna was served in a small crock type dish, which was probably nuked to heat. Burnt bottom and pasta that was so mushed from being microwaved. Awful. Told the waiter and he shrugged it off. WILL NOT be back.
here is what happened to me:
it is bad business and discourteous and poor restaurant etiquette to do what they did:
If you don't have a wine that was ordered as advertised, you should come back and say so and suggest that the customer might choose another wine.
You shouldn't do what they did - presume that a different wine is acceptable. And coincidentally pour that wine in a carafe for tasting, allowing a customer to send it back if they don't like it. Don't we have that prerogative anyway when a bottle is newly opened.
And to stand at the table waiting for a decision does put pressure on a customer. All this said, you should charge at the MOST the carafe price, not the bottle price since you didn't bring a bottle. It was wrong and poor customer treatment. I do not feel good about it.
Food was very good. Staff very attentive. Although mostly empty they sat a loud, poorly dressed blowhard who spouted his politics through mouthfuls of food right next to us.
The owner was so wonderful and attrntive. He brought us his special diahes ao we could try them, even tjough we didn't order them. A charming host and our meal was delicious!!
OMG another great meal, Chef Palo outdid himself with the special cognac veal dish with wild mushrooms broccoli rabe, and those special toasted potato cubes , desert was an incredible Tiramisu super fresh and smooth. Staff is very attentive and polite and invisible to the eye but dishes are cleared and glasses filled, tables cleaned without you noticing. More restaurants need to take notice of what a quality dining experience entails. The overseeing management of Incognito shows in the end product. Go and treat yourself to a great dining experience you wont regret it.
We come to Incognito often and there almost never a miss. The menu is interesting, the food well-prepared, and the service friendly and timely. Unless there's a big, loud crowd at the bar-and I've only run into that once, during the week- it's a rare restaurant, where its possible to enjoy a leisurely dinner, with terrific, flavorful food, and enjoy quiet conversation with friends. You can actually hear each other!
This was my first dinner at Incognito Bistro. I had the sword fish special. It was excellent.
We had a pasta bolognese special for a starter. It was an entrée but 3 of us shared
it as a starter because it sounded delicious. It was. We will be back to this restaurant.
