About In Riva
In Riva is the first venture by Philadelphia-born chef Arthur Cavaliere who has combined the similarities of his two favorite cities—Naples and Philadelphia—to deliver an unparalleled culinary experience. Sticking with the Italian translation of its name, In Riva is located "along the banks" of the Schuylkill River in East Falls.
In Riva is a Southern Italian inspired restaurant with urban flair, specializing in Napoletana style pizza, house-made pasta and contemporary antipasti. In Riva also offers an eclectic array of new and old world wines, Italian craft beers and racy specialty cocktails.

In Riva Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I always enjoy InRiva. They've got a great variety of Italian specialties and their pizza is the most the closest to authentic Italian pizza you'll find on this side of the Atlantic. We especially enjoy having a drink and snack there in the spring and summer, when they've got outdoor dining overlooking the Kelly Drive and the Schulkill River.
We came in from Chicago for the Army/Navy game and were looking for an incredible resturant to eat at. All I have to say is In Riva and the staff was amazing. I worked with Dawn (event planner as we had 13 in our group) and she came up with an incredible menu that was delicious. If you live in the Philly area or are traveling there, In Riva is a must stop for incredible food!!
Very good as usual, but our service was a bit off. Server said they did not have the beer I requested, so I went to the bar and got it myself. They forgot our salad until after our pizzas were served.
Still live InRiva and I consider our family “regulars” there. That will not change.
I do wish they would address the acoustics- it’s terribly loud. An easy fix would be the installation of acoustic panels on ceilings/walls. They can be decorative if desired.
The grilled asparagus and roasted mushroom salad were very good; our friend liked the salt cod and eggs a great deal; the pizza crust was good, but the toppings (pepperoni, pesto, and basil) were delicious only OK. The portions were generous, and though not inexpensive, it was a good value.
We had a party of 10 for a special occasion and it was exactly what I hoped for -- creative and delicious food, lots of choices for people to order to his/her own palette. Very good wine list -- interesting choices across a range of price points. Friendly and helpful service without hovering. Room was lively and energetic -- but not so that you couldn't hear table conversation. Wonderful evening. Thanks, In Riva!
Another big hit!!!!
Our dishes this day: Branzino appie, picked tomatoes with buffalo mozzz, split pea soup, as green and fresh as could be, rock shrimp with spaghetti and Margarita pizza with mushrooms! Cannoli for desert!
Everything was delicious and I do love eating here. However, I kind have memorized the menu and an occasional special wouldn’t fall amiss! Also, please please get an espresso machine!!!!
Have been here about 4 or 5 times and I have never been disappointed. We have gone with a friend from California he loved it the next day he was still talking about how great the food was. Last time I was there it was with family from overseas they also Loved it.
In Riva is one of our go to places. Good beer, imaginative menu, high quality food that always surpasses my expectations, and friendly staff. What’s not to love? We stop in for early dinner pretty much every time we are in the city for a concert. Easy to get to. Easy, free parking and right across the street from the river. An all around winner that deserves a lot more press than it receives.
Service is very attentive. However, although the menu is limited. The food is delicious but very small portions with high prices. There is nothing extra to write home about...a little bruschetta or something....The location is lovely for a lunch looking at the river. Parking available across the street ans some in the lot of restaurant.
The food here is always good and the flavor combos are creative and interesting. The view of the river is lovely when the weather is nice and you're sitting outside.
Even though they present themselves as a "tapas" style restaurant, I find they are a little pricey for a neighborhood lace, even with the great view. But not too bad for a small meal.
Their "Open Table etiquette" is non-existent. I always comment on whether a place has reviewed my requests or even looked at my OT reservation before I've arrived and they had not seen my res in this instance. In all fairness, it was a same-day-reservation, and I definitely take that into account and see what happens next time. Yes, there will be a next time as it's near a friend's home.
We had a very large group for a birthday brunch. They were very accommodating, faster than expected for such a large table, and everything was delicious. Jenna was attentive (as well as the rest of the staff) and went beyond our expectations. Usually restaurants try to hustle out large groups, but they were happy to let us hang out and celebrate. One of the many reasons we keep coming back.
The restaurant itself was great. The staff was friendly and the prices were awesome. The food not so great, everything was entirely too salty. We ordered a salad, and it was salty, I didn't know that was possible. It's a nice place and very convenient for me but I'd only go back if I was going to the bar.
Food and service were awesome. Dined for my sons birthday. Our only negative was the manager on duty or delivered our drinks. Seemed miserable and never bothered to smile. My husband tried to make conversation and she just walked away. Server herself was super pleasant.
Our group of four sat on the patio on a beautiful September evening. First time there - we enjoyed the craft cocktails and the beer list.
We shared appetizers - steak tartare bruschetta and fire roasted asparagus - both very good.
The pasta is made in house, so we ordered three varieties to share. The winner was the bucatelli with mushrooms.
Service was excellent- our waitress was friendly and attentive.
Total bill came to $200 for four of us but we had two drinks apiece plus coffee, an after dinner bourbon and two desserts.
