The food was simply amazing and everything from the steak to the side dish to the desert were put together perfect! A must if you're in Portland, definitely the best restaurant in town.
Absolutely OUTSTANDING!!! This is one of my favorite restaurants of all time, out of everywhere. The food is just absolutely incredible - and I'd say that probably includes everything on the menu. I've never had a dish I didn't like. Some wow more than others, but never a disappointment. Service is outstanding as well. 10 stars across the board.
The food and service were excellent; the only flaw was the noise level. We did enjoy the meal, though, is spite of the noise.
We enjoyed a creative, wonderful meal at Imperial. We ordered everything with minimal salt and it made all the difference in the experience as compared with previous meals here which were arguably oversalted. The quality of the product is top-notch. We absolutely loved the food and the vibe. This is a must restaurant for anyone hanging out in Portland. You will not be disappointed.
We went there for Portland dining month and thoroughly enjoyed the 3-course meal. The food was just outstanding. We also bought the wine pairing which was very well done and well worth it. We weren't impressed by the description of the dessert, but when the brown sugar cake with cashew nougat ice cream came it was superb - especially with the paired dessert wine. The service was friendly, attentive, and not obtrusive. Loved it all and had a great evening. I would highly recommend Imperial.
Our party of four had: surf and turf, coulotte, and the black cod,
all were very well prepared and presented and delicious . Really appreciate a chef that knows how to prepare fish that's not dry. The highlight, though, was the baked alaska. OMG. I doubt it's always on the menu so go as soon as you can...
Happy Hour is deluxe.
Drinks and food are top notch.
I usually enjoy dinners at Imperial, but this time the service was poor and one of our dinners was disappointing (the wagyu coulotte was tough and lacked flavor). Our server mumbled and seemed disinterested. He didn't check on us during the meal at all, and delivered the check without a single word.
Outstanding food and service!
Food was on point, service was great. Definitely on our list of places we'll go again.
On our recent trip to Portland, our hotel's staff recommended this place for brunch and we were not disappointed! Food and service were both fantastic! We were seated at the chef's counter, right in front of the wood stove, watching our food being prepared. Love seeing the energy in the kitchen staff, and the chef's methodical way of approaching every dish. Menu has a lot of comfort food dishes but all with a slight twist to them. Plus they use very fresh ingredients. I loved the roasted squash and my husband raved about his biscuit and gravy. Our server was friendly, efficient, gave us great food recommendations and with the right amount of attention. Would definitely return next time in Portland!
Amazing food! My husband and I really enjoyed our evening
Excellent service. Great food! We arrived late and thu made us totally welcome and sped the meal along when we needed to leave. Food had great local ingredients and was ecellent.
Best fried chicken ever!! It was so juicy that I neglected some of the gourmet meat dishes on my table till it was gone.
While I prefer to visit Imperial for Happy Hour, on this occasion I visited Imperial for a business lunch. (Lunch is frustrating because my job does not allow for an opportunity for explore Imperial's amazing list of cocktails.) While Imperial does not market itself as a destination for business lunches, they clearly recognize that the lunch clientele is often there for business get-togethers. The staff was very efficient and professional, working quickly to take orders and keep our table stocked (water and whatnot) without hovering. Food was delivered promptly and the bill was presented efficiently.
More importantly, the food was excellent. I ordered the fish sandwich and my colleague negotiated an off-menu salad that met her dietary needs. Imperial exceeded her expectations without blinking an eye at the unusual request. My fish sandwich was thoroughly enjoyable - fried to crispness without mangling the fish into McNugget territory.
All in all, highly recommended.
Good food, small portions, a bit spendy. Noise level is LOUD!
Great sides. Good rolls, but $1 each. Dessert pie was very good. Prices a little high. Restrooms are downstairs through hotel lobby.
Expected it to be good - did not disappoint! Five adult siblings and our mom celebrated her birthday with a great Sunday brunch. Comfortable round table in middle of the beautiful dining space made for easy group conversation. Service was friendly and just attentive enough.
Menu selection was great; enough options to cover our group - which included drinkers and non-drinkers, foodies, carnivores and vegetarians - yet not overwhelming. Tasty comfort food, with hearty proportions. All at a very reasonable prices.
Will definitely come back to try their dinner menu for date night!
Went for brunch, really good but 5 stars shouldn't be a daily occurence. Wasnt a dream but was great food and a super wicked atmosphere. Plan on going back for dinner real soon.
Elegant atmosphere. Delicious variety of food! Great location.
Loud! Food was average. Caesar salad was over dressed. Hamburger was cooked to order and tasty, but sausage entree was dry. Expected more from Paley.
This was a belated Valentine's Day dinner. The food was very good, as was the wine. But what made the most difference was the service. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. An altogether excellent experience. We are long time fans of this restaurant and this just reinforced the fact that nothing has changed! We'll be back.
The food was excellent but the service was very lacking. Had to wait a long time for drinks that we could see sitting on the bar. Asked for coffee more than once. No condiments offered. Food was excellent.
A friend and I popped in for lunch in this beautifully designed downtown restaurant. The burger was one of the best in my life! House made bun, pickles on grilled Kobe beef. Fries were ordinary. Dressing on salad very tart. My friend enjoyed her cobb salad with smoked chicken. Warmed chocolate chip cookies were fabulous! Great coffee.
Wait staff was spot-on at every turn. Beautiful restaurant and I loved the table they gave us. The food was tasty and aesthetically pleasing, but many portions not impressive for the pricetag.
Now we've enjoyed all 3 Paley's Portland restaurants. We'll be back!
The restaurant was in a great location and extremely easy to walk to from anywhere downtown. The food was very good, a little more like a tapas restaurant but still delicious.
The vegetables are outstanding. The 1/2 chicken is amazing.
First time to dine at Imperial and we had the bone in ribeye for two and it was DELICIOUS!! Beet salad was incredible....cocktails were great!! Love the vibe
Food and service were fine. The Hazelnut sundae was a great finish.
The room is very live ( brick, wood, metal) and noisy. Some sound deadening would be nice.
The entree (secretto pork) was delicious. Sides (crab salad, roasted mushrooms), not so much.
Imperial is my go to brunch location... never lets me down
Fabulously presented meals served by wonderful wait staff.
We selected Imperial for for our 25th anniversary based on its reputation and the fact that we had not previously eaten there. It did not disappoint! This was quite possibly the best meal we have had in Portland, and we have had some pretty impressive meals in Portland over the years. Every aspect of the evening was flawless, from the smart and knowledgable wait staff to the impeccably sourced ingredients, and exquisite execution. Every aspect was perfectly thought out and just right. Nothing was precious or pretentious. The staff was busy (it was Friday after all) but nothing ever felt rushed. Our server happily decanted the bottle of wine we brought with us too. Front and back of the house are both very well run and the love of good food permeates the place. It was thoroughly enjoyable evening and we look forward to returning.
I met my girlfriends at Imperial for lunch. This place always delivers. The kale salad is delicious but small. As a vegetarian i did not add Chicken so the portion didn't satisfy my hunger. I do wish they offered more hearty vegetarian options because what they do They do very well.
Very good food overall, except the smoked mushrooms which tasted really odd--would not order those again. Our waitress also seemed somewhat unsure of herself. The night seemed slightly "off," but we eat at Imperial often and will definitely be back.
The fried chicken was amazing. We will definitely come back for more!
We LOVED the food. It took a long time before our waiter visited our table for the first time, but other than that she was excellent. It was on the more expensive side for the same quality restaurant in Portland, but not that far off from the average I suppose. It was pretty loud while we were there. The food and drinks were really excellent.
Made reservations for lunch and so glad that we did as it was packed when we arrived around 12:15. As soon as we were seated, we were promptly greeted by Emily T. We had already looked at the menu online and placed an order of the crab salad, fried chicken and fries with secret sauce. Our food arrived quickly and everything was stupid good! When I could finally tear myself away from the ridiculous fries, I was ready to tear into the steaming hot chicken. Unfortunately, Emily had not visited our table in a while and I had to flag down another waiter to bring us hot sauce. He told us that hot sauce and honey should have been provided...hmm...Emily was so not on her job. As soon as he brought the in house accoutrements we tore into it and it was delicious! The combo of the fresh made honey and hot sauce spoke volumes. Next it was on to the salad, which was wonderful; filled with lots of meaty fresh crab meat.
Of course, no meal is complete without dessert. I do not like fruit and cake combined, wasn't in the mood for pie, so we decided on the cookie. Emily finally showed up and told us the cookie was big enough to split. When it arrived, we were like really? I could have easily eaten that by myself. I wasn't to pleased, but the cookie was warm (the best) and the addiction of the chocolate chip ice cream was perfect. It wasn't your typical ice cream filled with bits of chocolate chip, but the actual cookie! I can't wait to come back here to dine for dinner!
Good bar, good service, unexpected tastes but noise was a bit of a deterrent to easy conversation.
