Great service and great food!
Excellent food and service! One of the best restaurants in pdx!
The Impossible Burger is impossibly amazing!
"A radish walks into a bar"; first item I spied on the cocktail list. Complete winner!. Amazing flavors: Radishes on toast, signature fried chicken. You will have room for desert, share a slice of the German Chocolate Cheesecake. Can't wait to go back here again. Service was personable and attentive.
Again the Imperial for the win. Each time I eat here I come away thinking about when I'll be returning. The food is always excellent and the service was perfect as well. I'll be going back soon.
I was disappointed. . On the reservation I asked for a table rather than a booth. We arrived for our reservation on time at 1:45. We were rushed over to a booth even though there were tables available. We were told we had only a few minutes to order lunch. We were told that if we could not order quickly then we would have to move over to the bar area where we could only order from the happy hour menu. None of us were impressed with our meal. The salad had only a small amount of dressing. The tuna poke was terrible. The tuna was not sliced properly and was full of tendon material that was not edible. I have had poke here before and was looking forward to it.
Excellent brunch, in the queen of brunch towns! We loved the perfectly spiced biscuits and gravy; fluffy pancakes—amazing butter; eggs Benedict with legendary bacon; and, the steak and eggs with herbaceous sauce was outstanding. The atmosphere was colored by exuberant sports fans watching b-ball. Great service. Definitely a find.
Met up with some friends for a breakfast/brunch. Fun breakfast menu, awesome fluffy pancakes & good eggs benedict. Would be nice to have a English muffin under the eggs and traditional Hollandaise sauce, their secret hot sauce was killer.
The staff was very friendly and timely.
Had a bit of a snafu when it came time to settle up the bill but management took care of the issue. Clean cozy and comfortable, I hate driving downtown but glad we ventured so far from home.
Would like to try the happy hour :)
I ordered the grilled halibut, my wife ordered the fried chicken. Chicken was good but the halibut was under cooked! They did the right thing by comping my meal and bringing me a new plate. BUT when they finally brought me the new plate the halibut was still undercooked and they gave me the lame excuse that the halibut that they had just received in was bigger than usual and that’s why it was undercooked! What!?!?! Our waiter was very uninterested to say the least and we left knowing we would not come back.
Made a reservation to surprise my husband for his birthday. Made the reservation for 4 with a special request to seat our other 2 guests prior to our arrival for the surprise. It was perfectly orchestrated and such a great surprise! Food was amazing and service was excellent! Highly recommend.
This is a hip spot, good food and cocktails. Some of the stuff was a huge whiff though. They offered a $52 dry-aged Culotte that I found to be inedible. It wasn't my dish so I didn't complain, and the girl who ordered it didn't want to make trouble. But for $52 you'd better come with your A-game on a steak and it was just bad.
Everything else was great. Service can be a little distracted because it's a busy restaurant.
This particular visit to Imperial was my second over a span of two years, as I travel to Portland for work, every few months. My first impression of this being a fantastic restaurant was confirmed with another great visit. The food was on point, once more, but it was the fantastic service that really pushed this visit over the edge for us.
It started with our friendly and engaging hostess, who continually checked in on our table, and even jumped in and grabbed us drinks at one point. Our server was friendly, attentive, and very helpful in a way that didn't seem forced. It was a fairly busy evening in the restaurant, and my friend and I were taking our time with dinner, enjoying catching up. Our server caught onto this, and let us spend time chatting, but prompted us gently when we should jump onto the next course, so we would not get caught up in the kitchen slow-down with the growing crowd. I appreciated not having to worry about it, but not being rushed all at the same time!
At one point, I received a dish that had a component that I cannot eat. I realized this as my mistake (and admitted as much) as that item was on the description of the dish on the menu, but I had missed it. The staff was very accommodating, and replaced my side dish with one I could eat without complaint. Most PDX restaurants would have given me attitude for the mistake and the trouble, but our server, and the manager that came to check on us were very understanding.
With so many wonderful food options in PDX, the addition of fabulous service really puts Imperial over the top! Well done!
The quality of food is lower than before.
This was our third time to Imperial and we will definitely be back. There are so many great things on the menu, it's fun to order a bunch and share.
KNOWN FOR MEAT BUT EXCELLENT FOR FISH. Bustling modern industrial restaurant in the heart of Downtown Portland. We had a corner booth that allowed us to hear each other over the rollicking dinner and bar crowd. Oysters and Chicken Liver Pate were both excellent and paired nicely with our glasses of crisp Sauvignon Blanc. Our mains were Steelhead and Halibut, each perfectly prepared, moist and softly flaking to the fork. The Steelhead was accompanied by lentils and a rich onion compote, while the Halibut was sauced with lemon butter. Both paired remarkably well with an excellent 2014 Chateauneuf du Pape. The waitstaff were fairly attentive but it felt a bit like most of them were on auto-pilot. Several times our waiter was not listening to what I was saying, as his responses were non-sequiturs. One server who brought the Steelhead gave an excellent description of the dish while placing it. The server who brought the Halibut said not a word. The wine list was extensive and has a wide offering of both New and Old World wines. Valet parking made coming and going on a blustery Portland night of driving rain fairly tolerable. We would return.
The food was wonderful! The service was also excellent. The only complaint was it was very loud. Still, it was worth it!
Everything we ordered—smoked mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, rolls, NY strip, halibut, apple pie, banana cream pie, pudding, and chocolate sorbet—was delicious.
My wife and I went to Imperial for her birthday. Really nice environment, great beer, wine and cocktail selections.
I did not have the steak, but if you are into steaks, this is a great place to go.
My wife had the scallops, she is very picky about how scallops should be served, and she loved them.
I had a half chicken. It was just okay, but the side dishes were great.
Would highly recommend the Imperial.
The server was awesome and very friendly. The food so great. My daughter loves the lemon juice. Thank you.
The Spinella steak (I think that’s what it was called?) was absolutely amazing. All of our dishes were good and the drinks were well made. I’ll def recommend and dine here again next time I’m in Portland.
The best fried chicken. Have it.
Good food, and comfortable atmosphere
I was not to impressed with the Portland Dining menu/meal. The entre and dinner had very small portions. My main course came out on the colder side not hot. There was no bread or any type of food while waiting for the food. I did not like that this restaurant did not offer any type of sauce for the brisket. Only hot sauce was avail. The wine prices were very expensive.
first time. Very pleasant evening and nicelyprepared food.
Food is excellent, really well prepared and service is great too
The service and food were outstanding. We had a drink at the bar before we were seated and the talented friendly bartender and the gin drinks were a great start to a fine dining experience. We sat down and just pointed to all the stuff we wanted on the menu. The server sorted it out for us perfectly. She called it “coursing”. Thank you! Everything was just so good. Not too basic and not too experimental. Man! It was great.
My only negative is that it’s too loud, which is fine in a steak house way, but there was music pounding out it’s bass tones among the din, and that was just bad.
The food was excellent. We went for Portland dinning month and the choices were wonderful but my husband had a salad and the best T-bone steak we’ve ever tasted. Melt in your mouth tender. The best part of the meal was our server Allison. Alli treated us like we were guests in her home. So friendly and just plain fun. I have never enjoyed a meal like this one and it was because of Alli that we had such a great time
Great food and service
Shared several small plates and appetizers, which was ample for a meal. Desserts were fabulous!
Excellent wine pairings and service. Food was better than average.
The food, the service, and the ambiance are all amazing!! The small portions are not quite worth the price tag.
The food was delicious. The service was, as I expect in a good Portland restaurant, was excellent: friendly and efficient.
The only negatives were the decor (some bad color choices), a too low lighting level (I was straining to read the menu) and an ambient noise level that was high enough to keep me leaning over the table to make sure my companion and I could hear each other. However, these were minor annoyances.
Overall, it was a very good dinner. I would certainly eat there again.
Nice, vibrant restaurant with great choice and excellent food. Prompt and friendly service. Central location.
Food was fabulous, carpaccio with foie gras, beet salad with goat cheese, gnocci, slow cooked brisket, cake with caramel sauce, all great. Cocktails were not great- daiquiri and gimlet a bit too sweet; Brandy Alexander had ice, which is should not have had, and no nutmeg sprinkle, which it should have had. But the food is worth coming back for.
Great experience having Sunday brunch with my family. They set us up in a private room in the back, kept the coffee flowing and made great suggestions.
We loved the Homeade Poptarts, mushroom omelet and Fried chicken. Definitely recommend!
Something was off tonight. Salads came out timely but had a 55 minute lag until entrees were served. The salmon was over-cooked, the other 3 entrees were fine. Server brought bread and pickles while we waited but we were getting tired. Other tables around us were served timely and turned over while we waited. We were offered dessert but it was just a really long meal so we wrapped it up for the night. I think they tried to sort it out but would have been nice if the manager would have made an effort to come over and apologize. We were here because our concierge at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco raved about it. We came with high hopes and left disappointed.
My wife and I ate a late Saturday orning breakfast at Imperial. The restaurant is very, very, noisy. Usual breakfast food items were just "okay", but my one serious complaint is that the bacon was old and dried out. Probably won't return.
Great food and friendly knowledgeable staff. What's not to like?
Ben is awesome
