The flavors of every dish we ordered were incredible! The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. I’d definitely come back
Excellent food but a bit slow service. I guess they were overwhelmed with the crowd. However I will definitely recommend this place as the food was very very good.
Brunch. Service was super slow. Food was just ok. Nothing special. Maybe Sunday brunch is not the right time to go. Seemed very disorganized
Rica comida , ingredientes muy frescos , pedí el salmón y está un poco desabrido . Pero lo demás muy bien preparado, hay influencia de comida mexicana lo cual me gusto mucho.
Los cócteles también muy buenos .
The Imperial is a very popular place in downtown Portland. The host was very friendly and helpful when I arrived and accommodated my request for a quiet table. The menu is eclectic with a good selection of seafood and meat dishes. We shared the bay scallop cerviche and the wild mushroom bone marrow. The cerviche was nice and fresh. The mushroom bone marrow was yummy. I had the razor clams which was quite tasty but the portion was small (as the waitress warned me). My colleague had the halibut en papillote and the portion was very generous. The service is prompt and friendly. The noise level is high in the restaurant. The Negroni I had was very interesting and had a smoky flavour which cut the sweetness.
amazing food - the waiter was great and easy going - we sat ourside so that we did not have to deal wht the interior noise - so all was wonderful!
we went to Imperial two days in a row!! we were from out of town and heard that the happy hour was terrific - so that was the first magnet...the second night was because the night before everyonw was terrific, it is celiac friendly, and has great ambiance!!
The waitress was sad and bitter and not warm or friendly. The food was poor quality, skimpy portions, cake dry and fries soggy and rolls overcooked. Bleh. Not at all worth the money. I used to like this place a few years ago.
Brunch was great. Not a ton of people was a perk. The server was pleasant and service was top notch.
We would go back again:
good service , good menu options , nice interior and decor.
Thank you !
We eat at least one meal at Imperial every time we are in town.
amazing! The razor clams were to die for. The service was spectacular.
Poor service and just ok food quality
Great steak and fish. Huge and tasty sweet potato side. Excellent wine list. Ken Wright Pinot Noir on tap was really good.
Our experience was excellent! The waitress was exceptional-very patient with our orders, our party #, and very flexible. The food was incredible and our seating area was superb (private room with doors). We'll be back!
Great wait staff and food!
The food was excellent. The server was not helpful with choices however, too busy to help us navigate the menu. It didn’t help that the noise level of the room was off the charts. I am certain it was at an unhealthy level for everyone’s hearing. Something needs to be done to address it.
I was the only one of us who had been to Imperial before, so I was very eager for my companions to love it, and they did. It was my third or fourth visit to Imperial, and I have experienced only excellent food and service there.
This was a terrific meal. All four of us were very pleased with appetizers and entrees as well as desserts. The service was attentive and the one error was corrected promptly and taken off the bill without our having to ask for it.
Imperial restaurant offers well-prepared foods at moderate $$$ prices. I especially enjoyed the soup du jour, which was a sweet corn and chanterelle chowder. It was served without the oyster crackers as advertised, and the server went back to the kitchen where they "found" the crackers after all. Did not care for the duck meatballs, as there was a spice that gave it an odd flavor. Others in my party enjoyed their entrees, so that's why I gave the rating that I did. Server was friendly and accommodating.
Staff was being trained and service was very slow with little attentiveness to us. When they were there extremely nice and helpful. I was told of a special I wanted to order and by the time they came back for my order I was told it was gone. Food was great and arrived at the right temperature and great flavors.
Our third time at Imperial. Service, ambiance all excellent... But the food was hit and miss. Examples of dishes that were lacking were the mains - a stroganoff sauce served with an otherwise excellent steak was so salty as to be inedible. Sauces with another steak were bland. Succotash also bland, all ingredients tasted the same. A dessert of black forest cake was really a slice of regular chocolate cake with some cherries in sauce on the side - very strange. Excellent were the Parker House rolls and the smashed potatoes. Service was excellent and we were given a quiet table in the rear as requested. I wish the food was better.
Went to Imperial for brunch. Saw the menu before hand, thought it would be pretty good. I've been there before for drinks.
The place was pretty empty and host put us in the middle of the room, asked to move to a more private area, he obliged but did not seem happy about the change. The wait staff was nice enough. The manager made the rounds but never stopped to say, "Hi". The food was smaller portions and ok quality, but I would say not worth the price. The price is probably reflective of the real estate vs. the quality/quantity. I had the steak and eggs, steak was juicy and cooked nicely. My friend had the seafood omelet, he enjoyed it. My daughter had the short stack and did not eat the pancakes but a few bites. They also charged me for 3 coffees instead of 2 because I had my daughter take a sip to try the coffee. I was under whelmed.
Our waiter was great! He was very helpful asking us a couple of times if we had any questions about the menu. The food came out pretty fast and was amazing!
Food was overly salted , I don't know if this was the standard or just a one off . The place was noisy . I was there on a visit to Portland. If I was local I might have given them a second chance.
The food was delicious as well as creative. The service was very attentive and knowledgeable. We highly recommend!
Excellent food and timely service.
Fried chicken was the only main my party loved. I ordered a NY Strip that was one of the specials. In 45 years 1st dish I’ve ever sent back. Ribeye was ok not good.. Service was good. Just an overall underwhelming experience.
Excellent server (name?) and hostess (Coco). Very, very loud at 6:30 pm with a few larger groups nearby. Bay scallop ceviche was quite lime juice-y, and there was too much liquid standing in the cup. Didn’t get the purpose of the popcorn topping. Smoked mushrooms, which I’ve had here before, were fantastic, as was the Summer-something drink (mai-tai-like). despite the hot-and-miss meal, I appreciate the depth of flavors and creativity I always find at Imperial and will be back!
Amazing food, great cocktails and overall fantastic experience. Very enjoyable dinner!
Eaten here several times, the potato JoJos with the special cut burger were awesome. I did order my burger medium rare but it was definitely rare when I received it. I am a tartare fan so didn’t really mind but it definitely was not cooked to the right temp. Although the flavor was good the burger over all was a bit greasy and hard to eat because it was so big.
Once again, food coming out of the kitchen was VERY slow! Had a similar experience a few months ago with breakfast and thought it was an exception, but apparently now it's the norm. No one had food for some time, so the noise level was quite loud; had to almost shout to the other people at our table of four. After food finally started coming out of the kitchen the noise level dropped a bit. Our food was good, but not quite sure it was worth the wait.
Outstanding food. Absolutely delicious. Great service. We ate here for dinner on a Friday night, so it was pretty noisy, but we had a great time.
We went for happy hour and loved it! We loved everything we got!
Great ambience great food loved it!
Great service as always. The salmon was very good. We were a little disappointed with the rib eye. Rolls were good but not to die for.
I wanted a place for our group could talk and not have to yell so we reserved a small room and it was great. The staff took great care of us and were super friendly. In my opinion the prices were a bit high but the food was of excellent quality. I would recommend the Imperial for business meetings and or a small get together for sure, just make sure someone else is buying :)
Great food and service but quite loud. Still, one of the better experiences I've had in Portland. Go an check it out.
I'm sad. I like Imperial. Maybe it was an off night. I hope so. And, with so many excellent dining choices in PDX, I'm not sure when I'll go back to find out. We arrived about 20 minutes ahead of our reservation time. We checked in and sat at the bar for a drink. Good cocktails! Then our reservation time came and went without the host coming to get us and seat us. When I realized this and spoke to the host he said our table still wasn't ready. This was despite the fact that I saw him seat a few parties of 2 while we were sitting at the bar. He forgot us. Own it. Apologize. Make it right. We decided to eat at the bar. It took forever for our food to come out. The bartenders weren't that busy. Even so, we sat with empty glasses for about 15 minutes and weren't asked if we wanted something else to drink until our entrees arrived. By then it was too late. We wanted to eat and leave. Compared to my other Imperial experiences, the food this time was just okay. I had a guest from out of town visiting. She was underwhelmed. So was I.
Poor quality food and lackluster service, and unfortunately the atmosphere does not make up for it. Just my opinion.
Great cocktails, food and atmosphere. Loved our time there.
Food was great. The waitress was helpful in choosing a meal that would fit for a vegan even asking the kitchen to make some alterations. Will definitely return.
