Very limited menu.
An absolutely exquisite dining experience. The food and service were both amazing.
Be sure to hydrate before going (and after) because the sodium levels in the dishes are through the roof!! wild mushrooms with bone marrow sounded phenomenal but was inedible because every bite tasted like a mouthful of salt and no other flavor. very disappointing.
Have been coming to Imperial over the past few years periodically, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and it's always excellent, and a treat. The most recent occasion was for Thanksgiving dinner, and it was fantastic as ever.
Excellent food and service. Crowded accordingly.. Glad we used open table.
Thanksgiving. Was kinda disappointed at being put in a back room. Very nondescript without ambiance. They did have a movie playing. Service was exceptional.
Perfect on any and every level you would measure it!!! I can't wait for my next visit!
Thanksgiving day
Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful for the 7 members of my family--a round table, good food, excellent service.
The staff was so amazing on Thanksgiving. And the food was beyond description (a bit over the top at $42 for a turkey dinner, but that is a minor thing). Jonah was our server and he was an absolute delight. He made the meal perfect and made sure we were in need of nothing at all times.
Unfortunately my food was not even warm when it arrived. My husband had better luck.
Brunch was high quality, if just a little unimaginative. Everything was delicious.
I would have to give a mixed review based on the food and service for a brunch service. The food was good, but the delivery of said food was slow, uneven and incorrectly fired or just delivered incorrectly. We got two of one entree. The toast to come with two of the meals and the side of bacon that was to come with another was delivered as an afterthought. My wife asked for a specialty cocktail. A Spinnaker, as served by another food establishment consisting of Earl Grey Tea, a shot of Amoretto and a float of cream. It came without the Amoretto. Our vegetarian friend could have pieced together a meal, but didn't need to as my daughter who has firsthand knowledge of "the breakfast menu" knows there to be more options, but when asked if any of them could be accessed the answer was a flat no.
This all constitutes too many errors/mishandles for a restaraunt with Chef Paley's name on the front door. So would I reccomend? I'd have to try a dinner service first.
The food was great, especially the elk tartar. The noise level was incredibly loud, I would not be able to take my elder parents. Service was efficient, if not personable.
The guy who “greeted” us was extremely off-putting, and rude. Kind of took the sails out of our entire evening. We arrived a few minutes early, and asked if we could be seated at our table. The host stared at my husband for a few, long seconds, and finally said, “Your table’s not going anywhere!” Really? Wow. Thanks for the welcome. We’ll think twice about returning.
Food was excellent!! Service was, unfortunately, very poor.
Our waiter made excellent menu suggestions and was very friendly and accommodating. Excellent food, excellent service and an excellent overall experience!!
We have been coming here for brunch for 5 years. The service was terrible this time and the food just ok. Was not worth the expense.
Always great!
The food was ok!! I had the flat iron steak which I’ve had better steaks at sizzler for far less. One of the others in our group got the cider pork which was actually pretty good!! The pickled berries that were on it really made it pop! The grilled half chicken was tasty! The skin was crisp and the seasoning was good!! What really made the good was the green chili sauce on the outside!! The salmon was kind of foshy smelling!! It had ok flavor but nothing spectacular!! Over all for the money I don’t feel that it would be a place I would be willing to frequent!!
Came out for girls night out. Food was great as usual. Atmosphere loud and upbeat. Fun. Service a bit slow as they were busy. Took awhile to get cocktails. This place is consistent.
Food was great .. just have to remember it’s not a great place for catching up with friends as it’s very loud. Our server was very nice! They messed up on my open table reservation but I think it got fixed.
Get the apple cinnamon roll! It's made of brioche dough, with spiced apples, cream cheese frosting, and a caramel drizzle. It's big enough to share, but you won't want to. I also recommend the house hot sauce, if only for the novelty of having it come out in a medicine jar with a dropper to apply it to your food. Staff was very friendly. The restaurant charges a 3% "wellness" tax to provide health insurance to the staff.
The duck meatballs were one of the tastiest dishes we have ever eaten. The mushrooms were excellent and the sweet potato was good.
My hamburger was slightly overdone, but still good.
The menu is small and the portions are medium. Service was very good!
Prices are more than fair. All in all - highly recommended.
So accommodating to our large foodie group wanting to try practically everything on menu and share on the small plates. We loved all the flavor bursts and variety of textures and presentations.
On holiday from Vancouver and had a great meal! Radish drink with burger and lovely salad.
We arrived earl so we went to the bar for a drink, so when the time was right, they seated us. Our waitress, Karen, was fabulous which only enhanced our celebration. The restaurant gave us a special vegetable dish while Karen gave us a glass each of Sherry to celebrate our 54 years. We both love their fried chicken, their most popular dish which we enjoyed after we split a salad. Wines, drinks, coffee were excellent but the people were the best.
Wonderful dining experience -from the service to the food. My husband enjoyed the fried chicken and I enjoyed the flat iron steak - both were very good. . Ordered the mushrooms as a side. . Wow! Absolutely delicious- would definitely recommend this restaurant. . We'll definitely be back
Fantastic dinner experience with client's from out of town.
Great service and happy hour snacks. the fried chicken was fabulous!
Great time- food and service was exceptional. Fish dishes were very small compared to both chicken dishes and quite a bit more expensive
We had a great time and our food was delicious. I would recommend!
The waitress was not friendly and seemed to have an aggressive tone. It put a damper on the evening.
Portions of the lunch entree special were extremely small. Provide some kind of salad or vegetable to make the portion appear larger.
Food was okay. Pickles were coated in extra hot sauce and wait staff failed to warn us. Ruined the palate completely. Chicken was over cooked. Pork secretta was incredibly dry and tough. Waitress was SURLY and stopped at table twice. Entire experience was disappointing.
I have been coming to Imperial for a few years. Been seeing a deterioration in quality of food and service over the last few months. Last visit will be last.
Friday night's special dinner at Imperial was delightful! Vitaly Paley and Matthew Jarrell of Imperial welcomed Brian Dunsmoor of Hachet Hall in LA to Portland. The five course dinner was thoughtful, delicious and seasonal. The collaboration of the chefs was a real treat! Thank you all! Geri and John
Both the food and the service is excellent I will definitely go back.
One of Portland’s finest restaurants. First rate front of house, fantastic kitchen: the fried chicken was perfect!! Risotto -spot on!! Always delivers, each and every visit!!
The food was interesting and quite good. We really enjoyed the Portland Poke- delicious. The duck meatballs had an interesting flavor but were my least favorite dish. The harissa carrots and roasted Brussels sprouts were also very good. The Parker House rolls were okay, nothing exceptional. Our server was not very attentive or very helpful. It was quite noisy, but overall ambiance was pleasant. I would return to this restaurant.
