Good dining experience! I had the Brussels Sprouts and tomato soup and quite tasty. I didn't give it 5 stars because the brussel sprouts were a little unevenly cooked with some not cooked quite through. But tasty nevertheless and I would return.
The fry bread chorizo breakfast dish was sooooo good.
The food was well prepared and the service quite good. Portions was filling and satisfactory and overall we will come again to try other items on the menu. I will note that we were a party of six and we each had a different dish and all were exceptionally flavorful and tasty.
Great food and a menu to please most anybody. As is the case with too many restaurants today, the noise level is harsh when it is busy.
Few vegetarian entree options. More entree options and vegetarian dinner specials are lacking.
Imperial was fine, but I'm not in a rush to return.
Near spot. Will definitely come back. Do double check their service windows. For example, we had to wait around to try things off their dinner menu, because Nrunch is exclusively, and strictly only served until 3pm. No biggie, we just had another round of drinks and waited an hour. Get the chicken biscuits with an egg. Just do it.
Good service, some menu items overpriced, others fair value.
We had a very pleasurable dining experience at The Imperial. The food was delicious and there were a wide variety of choices. Out waiter was helpful in making suggestions. He was also helpful in our wine choice. We were never rushed and our waiter was attentive to our needs. Our dinner was a little slow in arriving, but not so much that we had to ask about it. We had enough to eat but still had room for dessert, had we so opted. All in all, a nice dining experience. We sat in the middle of the main dining area, so the noise was a bit high. I've eaten here before, so I know other, more peripheral locations are quieter.
Food is always fantastic!!
We really love going to Imperial. Had the roasted brussels sprouts, which included bacon and apple pieces a in a mustard-based sauce, roast beef with root veg mash and yorkshire pudding, and the marinated pork shoulder (a favorite), and we finished with a chocolate-hazelnut pie. All were fantastic. It's often very loud at Imperial, which is about the only thing we don't like, but we were there somewhat early for a Friday night, so it was a bit quieter this time.
We all enjoyed our dinners a great deal and had a wonderful time with excellent service and a fun atmosphere.
New Years Eve dinner
New Years Eve
Excellent food and the wood fire cook was fun to watch.
Amazing food with creative thought and nearly perfect execution!
Food was excellent, service was very good. They give you a little time to figure out your selection, then when you are ready to order, service moves quickly.
Food was pretty standard for Portland. Maybe a little expensive for what we got. I thought the rolls would be hot.
I loved everything except the charred sweet potato and in the end we didn't really need it (as suggested by the wait staff) as the portions were plenty big. Also the prices seemed to have been raised. The whole bill was pretty shocking for 3 people.
Loved the fried chicken, as every one said I would. We had friendly service and enjoyed the Christmas decorations!
The weekend brunch is great. The menu is great and staff is excellent. The fried chicken at brunch is a great deal.
We loved our meal and overall experience. The pork chop was the most delicious cut of meat I’ve experienced. Just to note, the “chefs table” is a very hot seat with the wood burning fire... not like the “cozy warm” seats the hostess eluded to. None the less I would recommend this to anybody and return when we can.
We had a good time here. A little spending but a good happy hour just could have had better prices on the drinks that were in small glasses
We shared the rib eye and potato on the side and it was plenty to eat.
We sat in the private room with our family of 9 plus a baby. They are so great and accommodating at the Imperial. The drinks are exceptional and the food is always delicious and interesting. We had just about every entree on the menu except the steak options and everyone was happy. Probably the roasted chicken was the least fav but still good. Thanks for another delightful meal and experience for our post holiday family gathering. We’ll be back!!
Disappointed thought their be a Christmas special menu !!!!
Delightful evening for Christmas eve. The food was great and beautifully presented.
We had planned on happy hour, reservation at 4 for9 including out of town guests. Once seated at our table we were given menus, Which were expensive entrees. I asked for the happy hour menu and was told they weren’t serving happy hour that day. Their website said they had happy hour every night. 4 pm entrees? We spent so much more than we wanted so it was sad. Good food but small portions for 9 and expensive drinks. 😞
We got a lovely private room for our party of 6! Great all around.
I was so looking forward to this dinner. I selected Imperial as the location of a special dinner for my family. Upon being seated we waited a long time, even though only half the tables were seated, for the terse hostess/busses? to ask us about our water choices. Finally the waiter arrived after another long wait. The music, 70s-80s Funk, was loud and incongruous for the setting and the crowd who were trying to talk and enjoy a meal. The fried chicken was drowning in wet onions and pickles which is a poor decision when most people like crispness. My daughter’s burger was over cooked and my risotto was salty and watery. We fled as soon as possible and would caution others not to go there.
Everything was perfect. Service, food, drinks. Spot on every time.
Able to sit in the bar area, had prompt service. The risotto was dynamite and was perfect on a stormy day.
One of the best meals ever!!
Small steak cooked to medium-rare perfection. Roasted Brussel sprouts with bacon and apple was amazing - and I hate Brussel sprouts! The charred sweet potato with onion butter and sea salt toppings defied description - in taste and color! Everything I could do to not finish this giant potato treat!!
Cold, crisp Portland evening with a hearty PNW meal and some fine wine. Thank you Imperial!
Our server was very disengaged... like she had no time for us.. very short with us when we asked questions about menu.
My spouse, our child and I went for Sunday brunch. It wasn't very busy but service was still slow. I ordered the latkes and was very disappointed. I was served potato pancakes (not latkes) that had a sour after-taste. My problem with this is that if you are going to serve potato pancakes (and not even good ones at that), don't call them latkes. What I was served was not a latke and should never be called a latke. The manager spoke to me about the dish and said it was "the chef's interpretation of a latke", yeah, no. Latkes are latkes or they aren't. They are not something you interpret.
The cinnamon roll was tasty but was luke-warm even though it had just come out of the oven. My spouse had the eggs benedict and those were tasty as well but nothing to write home about.
Excellent food, quality service and overall a really great restaurant! Only drawback was the noise level made conversations somewhat challenging.
Small portions, over priced for fair food quality . Probably won’t return
Our 3-generation family group enjoyed a special celebration in a private space, with attentive service, delicious dishes - for children too - and very helpful staff when we sought extra assistance. Our occasion was enhanced by both the quieter ambiance of the semi-private room and the restaurant's happy willingness to serve our own birthday cake. We know the food always is inventive and delicious.
We had a reservation at 8:30 and didn’t sit down until 8:45. Our drinks took another 20minutes and we didnt get our food until 10. My husbands order was wrong.
First time to visit . Friday night and it was packed. Maitre d promptly seated us, staff was gracious, food was delicious. One our best meals and evenings ever!
Imperial has become our annual go to for my cousin and I when we head to Portland for Christmas shopping. There are so many wonderful dining choices in Portland and Imperial is at the top of our list.
Great service, food and ambience.
Loved the exposed old architecture.
