Excellent food and service!
Need I say more?simply stated "do not go there".it was awful.
For $21 for chicken and biscuits they should have served 2 biscuits and enough gravy for each one
The Positives: great location and service provided by the staff. The atmosphere is decent, but wouldn’t consider it to be exciting, romantic or worthy of bringing me back here.
The disappointment: the food. Though the drink choices were good/interesting the food was very disappointing, especially considering the price. Fried chicken that had great texture but was very bland for $24? No thanks. Overall the food was very disappointing made even greater by the price and other amazing options in the city from brick and mortar restaurants to food trucks.
Awesome place as usual! Great food, great atmosphere and great CRAIC!!!
The Imperial doesn't disappoint as there is something for everyone and always prepared in a unique way.
It is good for sharing as well and has a menu that showcases the fresh and best of the Northwest.
When trying to visit with friends, it is very very noisy and that is my only complaint ......makes it hard to hear one another and I believe the acoustics issue can be solved.
Disappointing menu; weak by-the-glass wine selections; incredibly noisy; over-priced. Much hype, little substance.
Amazing heirloom tomato and peach salad.
Breakfast at Imperial is a real treat. The crab and shrimp omlette is great and the french toast is amazing for those who want a more decadent fair.
Just an okay place but overpriced for variety, value, and just staff friendliness.
Imperial is one of the few restaurants that can do a variety of cuisine styles not just well, but VERY well. The staff are always attentive and orders come out rather quickly, which is why this restaurant is one of my top picks for a business lunch.
Service was spotty, for the first time since we have eaten at this restaurant. Food was good as usual.
Food was just ok ☹️
Great tasting brunch options. Great service. Fun ambiance.
Food quality was average.
Preparation and delivery of food was suspect.
Never had a cold T-bone. This falls on chef, server or management.
A $69 T-bone should arrive the table hot or at worst warm.
Unfortunately, it arrived cold to the touch!
The manager (Aurei, sp?) came to the table about my lack of satisfaction with lots of attitude showing his dissatisfaction that a piece of meat had to be discarded. He then said “a medium rare steak is going to be cold, would you like it cooked medium so that it’s warm on the inside to please you”... Wow!
I told him I expected the T-bone to arrive hot in temperature. Not cold!
Once he brought another T-bone to the table he mentioned TWICE that “this ribeye came right off the grill”.
Pitiful customer service and a total lack of respect for his customer!
Management and waiter never offered to bring fresh sides of potatoes or vegetables after waiting 20 minutes for the steak.
Did not matter to them that my sides had to be eaten prior to the new steak or that my son had to eat his salmon on his own..
No offer or thought of “hey, sorry for the inconvenience. Can we get you fresh sides, a glass of wine or a dessert”.
Great wine and food! Love the location and the owner helped us pick out wine and kept our glasses filled!
Bar might be good. No lunch menu on Saturday, only brunch then they “were out of” what is likely a signature dish. Other stuff can be found elsewhere. Stadft was nice.
What great good and fun we had at the imperial. Can’t wait to come back!!
Compared to other Portland restaurants, this one was slow and overpriced. The steaks were also tough. We waited 45 minutes for our meal and 20 minutes for our check. It was a bit of a disappointing last night of our vacation.
From the time we walked in we were treated like old friends. Service and food were top notch. I don't drink and I really appreciate a hand built mocktail, a nice touch. Thank you for a lovely evening. The only thing better than the food was the service. Kirsten and Ari took great care of us.
The second Chef Vitaly Paley restaurant we visited during our short time in Portland. Rosa Rosa at Athens Dossier was outstanding but Imperial is good too.
Very good service. Server & mgr went extra mile for my husbands b-day. Steak disappointing - $45 steak that was $20 of fat. All tables nice wood & polished, except ours - dull, scraped, rough.
Blah menu and seriously small portion of food with zero side items. You even have to pay for a roll!
Great lunch, great service and a great room for a business lunch
Best fried chicken ever!
The eggs benedict was amazing! The traditional english muffin was traded for a homemade biscuit and the hollandaise was spot on! A great experience.
Our 1st time here. Celebrated hubby's birthday, we all ordered different entrees and all was delicious. Service and recommendations by our server all spot on!
Have recommended restaurant to many friends. i
I am from Ohio, and have only been to Imperial twice. Both times had excellent food and the atmosphere is very nice. Enjoyed the experience! Would highly recommend.
We were on vacation in Portland and were celebrating my husband's birthday. After reading about Imperial in our guide book, we decided to give it a try...and it was right next door to our hotel.
Imperial is delicious and the ambiance was cool and classy! Best cocktails!! Went back twice, after having dinner that night. Would highly recommend it!
The flavors of every dish we ordered were incredible! The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. I’d definitely come back
A solid choice for a pre-show meal! The salmon was excellent.
Excellent food but a bit slow service. I guess they were overwhelmed with the crowd. However I will definitely recommend this place as the food was very very good.
Brunch. Service was super slow. Food was just ok. Nothing special. Maybe Sunday brunch is not the right time to go. Seemed very disorganized
Rica comida , ingredientes muy frescos , pedí el salmón y está un poco desabrido . Pero lo demás muy bien preparado, hay influencia de comida mexicana lo cual me gusto mucho.
Los cócteles también muy buenos .
The Imperial is a very popular place in downtown Portland. The host was very friendly and helpful when I arrived and accommodated my request for a quiet table. The menu is eclectic with a good selection of seafood and meat dishes. We shared the bay scallop cerviche and the wild mushroom bone marrow. The cerviche was nice and fresh. The mushroom bone marrow was yummy. I had the razor clams which was quite tasty but the portion was small (as the waitress warned me). My colleague had the halibut en papillote and the portion was very generous. The service is prompt and friendly. The noise level is high in the restaurant. The Negroni I had was very interesting and had a smoky flavour which cut the sweetness.
amazing food - the waiter was great and easy going - we sat ourside so that we did not have to deal wht the interior noise - so all was wonderful!
we went to Imperial two days in a row!! we were from out of town and heard that the happy hour was terrific - so that was the first magnet...the second night was because the night before everyonw was terrific, it is celiac friendly, and has great ambiance!!
The waitress was sad and bitter and not warm or friendly. The food was poor quality, skimpy portions, cake dry and fries soggy and rolls overcooked. Bleh. Not at all worth the money. I used to like this place a few years ago.
Brunch was great. Not a ton of people was a perk. The server was pleasant and service was top notch.
We would go back again:
good service , good menu options , nice interior and decor.
Thank you !
We eat at least one meal at Imperial every time we are in town.
