Timothy was a great waiter.
Loved the house made barrel aged habanero hot sauce (available for purchase). The baked/grilled sweet potato with the unique sides of pesto butter and house made salsa was a fantastic vegetarian choice. Fish was amazing too. We really enjoyed our dinner here.
Family from out of town was visiting we have ate here other times. Great food was thinking the Bloody Mary use to be bigger. Felt like drinks all 4 of us ordered came out a little different looking with toppings. Little more love into them would be nice.
Amazing food, Delicious! Drinks were very good as well!
We dined at Imperial for the first time recently. It was on our list of restaurants to try. The food was good and the service was outstanding. The noise level was very high. Great spot for casual dining but I wouldn't recommend it for a special occasion. Most of the patrons were in their 20's and 30's. It was busy and clearly a hopping place for hipsters.
The food was average. The service was below average. When I asked for ground pepper for my salad, the server returned with a small pepper shaker.
Food was wonderful! I ordered the kale salad with fried chicken on the side.
Friends ordered other brunch menus.
Super helpful staff took care of everything and let us finish up a private meeting in their private dining room.
Scrumptious. Great Downtown location also!!
The food was mind blowing. The rolls, the duck meatballs, the sweet potato the size of your head....
We got a last minute, late (9:45PM) reservation on a Friday evening after traveling to Portland. It was a pleasant surprise to find a Portland Restaurant Month menu and the selection was a good value, but my food was "meh." The salad leaves were smushy, as they were overdressed. The chicken special was flavorful, but was very small. The cheesecake was nice, if unique - the citrus twist was different!
Of course the time we were sat impacted our meal tasting fresh but I also just felt like the service was "meh" too. This restaurant has so much potential, so it was a bit disappointing.
First time, familiar dishes with twist on the spices. Excellent choice for the night
We both had the Portland Dining Month special and it was messily arranged on the plate, overpowered with flavors, and small portions for the price. The wine pairings were unsatisfying. I’ve been there a few times, but this experience was not great. On the positive side, they did make the dessert gluten-free for us, which was nice, and they helped us get our food in time to make our show.
It’s a great experience. Went to enjoy March Portland dining month at the Imperial. Prefer to have been seated at a different table versus the long shared one in the middle. Will try again and have something off their menu.
We four ladies had a delightful day; the high-quality comfort food was delicious. From the Parker Roll to the raspberry chocolate pie, the "yum" factor was high. It is very noisy so one ends up almost shouting to luncheon partners across the table. That is the only real negative. The wait staff is superb--two young women formerly from New Jersey (from whence I came) were cheerful, professional and most accommodating. I asked for a cider which wasn't sweet enough for me; the server recommended a rose which still didn't taste just right. I finally had a non-alcoholic drink that was perfect. Server was most gracious and no extra charge for my samplings. Ahi tuna was delicious but probably a tad pricey for a few pieces @$19. Friend had chicken, another pea/lentil soup and fourth had great hamburger. All in all a wonderful non-rushed experience. Tone down the noise and it's a 5-star experience.
Imperial always impresses! Great food and service for a fair price creates outstanding value. The fried chicken is a must and the miso albacore was delicious! Highly recommend!
Not a big fan of sitting at the cafeteria table. Had an annoying group next to us. When they were finished with their plates they just pushed them down into our area.
Steak was fantastic. Reasonably fast service. Server was very attentive.
Great food. Cool place! We will definitely go back we also want to try another of their restaurants in the group.
The food was mediocre, service was awful. The waitress even rolled her eyes when asked to try a small sample of $16 wine which i did not like. Will not.go back
Absolutely amazing! Worth the price! They definitely know how to cure and cook their meats. And such amazing flavor combinations!
Great service and food delivered, no complaints, well done!!
We love this restaurant! My husband says it’s his favorite restaurant! We sit up to watch the chefs cook the meat on the fire grill! So fun to play such and educational too! They don’t mind if you ask questions, which is great ask we asked a lot! Food is amazing!
Dining with friends.
Underwhelming. It was fine but that’s it. Greeted by a very nice hostess. Ordered the roasted chicken and it arrived Luke warm after what tasted like it was sitting in a warmer long before we got there. Parker rolls were great. Cocktail was nice. Waitress forgot to put order in for fries so son had to start on his burger without the fries and all she said was sorry I forgot to put the order in. Had to flag her down for catsup. Overall not terrible but not worth the trip. Don’t see us going back anytime soon.
Really good food and great service.
Very friendly and polite hostess and waitress. The staff was extremely respectful. Food was wonderfully prepared and the atmosphere was great. Will most definitely recommend to colleagues and friends.
Great time with WONDERFUL food
I had the pork secretto and need to learn how to make this at home. My husband loved his steak which was cooked to perfection.
Went here for our anniversary dinner, and we had a great experience. Great staff, great food, awesome service. Worth it!
Fantastic all around. This is one of the best spots in Portland. Full stop.
There were four of us and we were all disappointed with our food. The trout was cold and the steak was over cooked. Even more disappointing were the desserts - not even edible. I believe the chefs has changed recently because this was very different than previous experiences there.
My only reason for not giving a 5 star rating was due to the fact that our glassware was dirty on the outside; wine and water. The waitress replaced but seemed irritated. We loved the food, and have been to Imperial several times...we will be back.
Inventive and delicious food, fun and welcoming staff.
Talk about a popular happy hour! Geez. Though we don't often go just for the happy hour and instead reserve a table for a wonder dinner at reasonable prices. The food is always creative and excellent. The service is wonderful.
We do however, enjoy the happy hour in the bar when seating is available. Great food at very reasonable prices with exceptional drinks. Again, the service is outstanding.
Imperial is always perfect.
Steak was amazing. Service is awesome! Really cool to watch the wood fires grille.
Service was slow, I think the server had to many tables to manage. Food was great. Pop tarts are amazing. I’ll still go back. But this was my least favorite experience in the 5x I’ve been.
The food at Imperial was very well executed and big on flavor. We had the duck meatballs and some of the Poke salad for starters and both were excellent. The meatballs are a little on the salty side, but that suits my taste so they were great. The Poke was really fresh with just a tiny amount of heat from the peppers. For dinner my wife had the flat top burger and she loved it. It's very big so it could probably be shared. I had the flat iron steak medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. The sauce it came with was good, very mild. We also had these awesome coal-roasted sweet potatoes. Great side dish. All in all a really good dinner.
Great... and I mean GREAT food.
Our server was not good. Very easily could have had an off night but our table was an afterthought to her and she wasn't very personable.
Food was great. Bring your umbrella. — The scallops carbonara was fantastic (always order the carbonara if they have it on the menu!). The steelhead was also fresh and had a great sauce with it. The second waiter we had was very attentive and helpful. The first one tried to convince us that having water drip on us throughout the dinner was “normal” for a 100 year old building. We had to insist on a new table after she worked pretty hard to convince us that it would be dripping on us from any other table as well. They finally moved us and, of course, we didn’t get dripped on the rest of the night.
It was a really nice place. Mabe a little too Noisy and a little over Priced but not a bad place. I would Recommend this place
Excellent food, with very creative touches (wasabi sauce with my plank salmon, alongside shiitake mushrooms that were out of this world)...(it was a "wow" moment)
We were trying to make the Arlene Schnitzer theatre further down Broadway and so the timing was perfect...the staff knew that in advance and took great care of us! This is a Portland gem.
